Excerpt from Some Account of the Trade in Slaves From Africa as Connected With Europe and America The extinction of the Trade in Slaves from Africa has been an object of desire with the people of this country for the last half-century: and they have repeatedly urged the Crown and the Government to make every endeavour possible to effect it. Parliament has expressed its readiness to agree to great sacrifices for the attainment of this object; and successive Administrations have been unceasing in their efforts, to fulfil the commands of the Crown, and to second, in this respect, the wishes of the People. I therefore thought, that a succinct account of the facts belonging to these transactions might not be useless to the Government, nor unacceptable to the public.
