Sound Doctrine for Today's Christians by Rev. Preston N. Tolliver Jr. Pdf

This book exists as maybe what will be my greatest accomplishment in life. Thanking Almighty God for his co-authorship. The nourishment of the meat of the Word is presented herein for understanding by even babes in Christianity. It is a work that is doctrinally true to the Bible. Rev. Tolliver "The world is indeed hungry for the Living Word and maybe as never before in history." Tolliver selects forty topics prevalent today. Classic religious topics are Salvation/Being Born Again, Faith in Jesus Christ, Trinity, Man's Purpose, and True Freedom. Topics regarding society values include Child Rearing, Divorce, Sexual Morality, Homosexuality, Racism, Abortion, and Civil Rights Movement. Each topic has a separate section beginning with a guided question. Questions may require a single answer which consists of Bible verse(s) that serve as commentary. Complex questions are broken down further. A sample question is: "Notwithstanding the issues of women's rights or "right to life," what does the Bible have to say about abortion?" All Bible verses are quoted in full and taken from the King James version. Thirteen appendices support Tolliver's conclusions. An interesting example is Appendix 8: Title 89 Social Services' definition of child abuse. The author recommends that parents read section 300.20 and use wisdom in administering correction. This 606 page book is an excellent resource for someone wanting to attend seminary without having time or resources to do so. -The US Review of Books

Wolves in Sheep's Clothing by Larry Herneisey Pdf

And Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that no man deceive you. (Matthew 24:4) Are Christians in today's churches being deceived? If we were, how would we know? We often accept doctrines of today's popular teachers at face value, without ever comparing their claims against the principles of Scripture. Taking for granted that everything we are hearing taught is truthful and sound doctrine, is to be very naïve. Jesus warns us in Matthew 7:15, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." We live in an age of rapid change and much deception. If the teaching of the church is going to remain sound, the responsibility rests with us. "Wolves in Sheep's Clothing" is a study guide, a reference source, and a thought-provoking look at many of the teachings prevalent in today's Christian church. The author exposes many of today's false teachings, often with a bold stance. The false teachers propagate their lies with boldness, therefore at times it is necessary to stand against them with boldness. After studying this work, the reader will be empowered to sort through the misleading and deceptive doctrines of today, and avoid the common traps set by most false teachers. Hopefully by the end of the study the reader will have learned practical ways to determine for himself whether a teaching is truthful or in error. At the very least this study will provoke the reader to deep spiritual thought, and at the most, it will set people free from the bonds of false teaching. This study will benefit the fresh new believer and the seminary student, as well as the seasoned Bible teacher. This work is a must read for pastors, teachers, Bible study leaders, and anyone who thirsts after truth.

Sound Doctrine by Torben Sondergaard Pdf

According to the Bible, sound doctrine creates true fear of the Lord. If this fear of the Lord is missing in our churches, as it seems to be, it must be a sign that we do not preach the true Word of God and sound doctrine. Teaching sound doctrine should cause us to see a need to surrender everything to God and to live in the light. There is no darkness, no sin, when we are walking in the light ( 1 John 1:7). True godliness and holiness is required to walk with God. In this prophetic word to the Church, Torben brings us back to the Bible where sound doctrine is found, including how to address sin in the church and in the individual. Has the church been teaching sound doctrine? Has it become soft on sin? Can the church expect its prayers to be answered if there is sin in the camp? Is the church accursed because it has allowed sin to thrive unchallenged? Can a person truly be born again and continue in conscious sin? Have we been teaching a grace that tramples the blood of Jesus? These are serious questions that must be addressed if we expect God to hear our prayers. His word to the church: REPENT!

The Evangelical Universalist by Gregory MacDonald Pdf

Can an orthodox Christian, committed to the historic faith of the Church and the authority of the Bible, be a universalist? Is it possible to believe that salvation is found only by grace, through faith in Christ, and yet to maintain that in the end all people will be saved? Can one believe passionately in mission if one does not think that anyone will be lost forever? Could universalism be consistent with the teachings of the Bible? In The Evangelical Universalist the author argues that the answer is ‘yes!’ to all of these questions. Weaving together philosophical, theological, and biblical considerations, he seeks to show that being a committed universalist is consistent with the central teachings of the biblical texts and of historic Christian theology.

Genesis by Steven L. Rogers,Courtney L. Johnson Pdf

As a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, my sworn duty was to guide, teach, and protect those who served in subordinate positions. In this role, it was critical to provide clear and concise information so that those who trusted my leadership would not be ignorant of the mission or threats. The Apostle Paul gives an explicit command to believers to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The reader should be forewarned this written work takes an unwavering confrontational approach with the sword of doctrine to pierce and cut away the customs, traditions, political correctness, spiritualism, and ignorance that has infiltrated and infected the body of Christ that is yielding illiterate believers that are unable to prove and defend the faith. Lastly, not all doctrine is sound. Sound doctrine is truth that has been established in Genesis and echoes throughout eternity without changing with the seasons of moral relativism, humanism, and ecumenicalism. Genesis: Let There Be Sound Doctrine is a book written to fulfill Paul's command to educate and encourage the Christian believer in the undeniable truths of God's creation, His identity, and plan of salvation. In this pursuit, physical evidence is accompanied by Holy Ghost revelation expressed in a palatable way so the reader can harmonize their beliefs with the sound spoken from heaven.

Doctrine Still Matters by Chester Tatmon Pdf

The apostles in general and the Apostle Paul in particular stressed the importance of studying and teaching sound doctrine. Although there are many important subjects in the Bible, in this book, we have chosen to highlight some that we consider to be very important. I think it is critical that one be as accurate as possible when studying the nature of God, His Son Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the concept of the Trinity. In addition, it is imperative that the Bible be utilized as the primary source for investigating these doctrines; the Apostle Paul encouraged his spiritual son Timothy to study to show himself approved. Study what? Probably the Old Testament manuscripts and even the letters that had been sent to him. I would like to echo him in saying to all who read this book, study to show yourselves approved because doctrine still matters.

Introduction to Bible Doctrine by Reid Ashbaucher Pdf

From a non-denominational Biblicist perspective, Introduction to Bible Doctrine was written to meet the prerequisite requirements of the author's textbook on Dispensational Theology: A Textbook on Eschatology in the Twenty-First Century. It is the author's view that a partial mission of the New Testament Church is to be a pillar and support of the truth-defined as God's Word (1 Timothy 3:15). This book fulfills that mission, as a supporting pillar providing sound doctrine to the body of Christ-worldwide. This work would be appropriate for use in a 100 or 200 level college course for Introduction to Biblical Doctrine or Theology, or for any local New Testament church to use in their adult educational endeavors. Individual Christians and pastors should find this book helpful in summarizing scriptural truths in the support of their faith. The book is organized around the doctrine of God, Christ, The Holy Spirit, The Scriptures, Humanity, Angels, Salvation, The Church, Heaven and Hell (Good and Evil), and Eschatology.

Discipleship Defined by Eric Russ Pdf

"DON'T read this book if you want to remain comfortable! Eric challenges us to consider what Biblical discipleship looks like based on what Jesus did. Eric writes this book with the integrity of a man who is not merely theorizing about the way things ought to be, rather he is describing what is actually happening as he builds Biblical disciples in the context of the inner city. This book is soundly Biblical, challenging and practical. This book is about building disciples not programs." Roger Hershey, Campus Crusade For Christ "It is a joy to highly commend to all Discipleship Defined, for it is exactly the prescription that is needed for the Church to regain much of our lost effectiveness. "Discipleship Defined" has carefully described, yet without programming it into a rigid system, how to go about this challenging task." Walter C. Kaiser, Jr., President Emeritus Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary "Eric Russ gives us some very straight forward thinking about discipleship, a topic widely misunderstood and undervalued. Moving away from piety-driven discipleship, Russ points us toward a holistic, Christ-centered way of following Jesus." Jonathan Dodson, Lead Pastor Austin City Life, Austin, TX. "Eric has a healthy obsession about strong discipleship, and it shows in a gracious way in this guidebook for muscular commitment. Can you be obsessed and still have a gracious spirit? Eric does, and so does this book!" Knute Larson, Senior Pastor The Chapel, Akron, OH (1983-2009) Eric Russ is lead pastor of Mack Avenue Community Church in Detroit, Michigan. He is married to Sara and has four children. For more information visit www.discipleshipdefined.com or www.mackave.com.
