The Sovereignty of God by Arthur Pink Pdf

The Sovereignty of God is a religion classic by English Bible teacher Arthur Pink who articulates and relates the Biblical truths of God's absolute Sovereignty with the main goal to exalt God solely from the pages of Scripture. Pink attempts to draw closer the tension between the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man, an eternal question that remains debated even though it's seemingly plainly taught in the Scripture. The author's focus is on the divine side of the issue, defining God's sovereignty and presenting the different spheres that it works and operates. Further on he turns to the tension between the sovereignty of God and human will and responsibility.

Sovereignty of God by Arthur W. Pink Pdf

Pink (d. 1953) is noted for his independent thinking. He was so well read, and had such a photographic memory, that he could give you the page and column in a host of reference works and commentaries. This book shocked the Christian world in 1919 when he published it. He fiercely defends the sovereignty of God, and all the cognate doctrines such as the Doctrines of Grace. It is THE book to give to those just after conversion, and a prime book to give to anyone who defends the free will of man. Pink was a Baptist preacher who held pulpits in England, America, and Australia. His early training was in scientology. His conversion was instant, and complete dedication to the cause of God and truth quickly became evident. This early book by Pink lays Scripture end to end to prove God's control over all persons and events. It is uncompromising, and as such it raises the hackles on the necks of many new students of this doctrine. Persons who knew Pink seldom objected to anything he taught, because he could literally quote hundreds of verses of Scripture verbatim on the subject under discussion. This book may be overwhelming, but it is certain that its many printings have been used of God to convince people of His sovereignty. The Banner of Truth has an edition of this book, but they have abridged their edition by deleting the chapter on Reprobation. If Pink were still alive, he certainly would not have allowed this misrepresentation of his doctrinal belief: that God both elects and reprobates, as Romans 9:21?23 clearly teaches. It is an important stone to guide the steps of those who are not yet convinced of God's absolute sovereignty over all persons and events.

Sovereign Grace by Dwight Lyman Moody Pdf

"Sovereign Grace" is a term often used in Christian theology to describe the concept of God's unmerited favor and saving power extended to humanity. It emphasizes that salvation is entirely the work of God, not dependent on human effort or merit. Dwight Lyman Moody, a prominent American evangelist and preacher in the 19th century, likely discussed this theological concept in his sermons and writings, emphasizing the central role of God's grace in the Christian faith. While there may not be a specific work titled "Sovereign Grace" by Moody, his teachings and sermons often touched on this fundamental aspect of Christian belief.

Sovereign Grace by D L Moody Pdf

In this short book, first published in 1891, the great American evangelist Dwight L. Moody (1836-1899) gives a powerful, succinct explanation of the sovereign grace of God. Moody writes: "In the exercise of his high calling, the faithful ambassador of Christ must not scruple to declare the whole counsel of God, "rightly dividing the word of truth," to all classes of hearers. He must warn the openly wicked man that if he persists in his evil courses, the just judgments of God will inevitably overtake him; he must unmask the hypocrite; he must utter no uncertain protest against the crooked and devious ways of the self-seeker and the time-server. But if he enters into the Spirit of his Master, no part of his public work will be more congenial or delightful than the proclamation of the full, free, and sovereign grace of God, manifested towards sinful men in the gift of His Eternal Son, to be the Saviour of the world."

The Sovereignty of God & the Responsibility of Man by A. C. Clayman Pdf

The sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man has been a topic that has been fought in many theological battlegrounds over centuries past, and we know that it will continue to be fought for centuries to come. Yet God invites us with a grand calling as we look into the souls of men that are perishing without hope and without God to desire such a weighty topic to impact us by having the right view of God, a proper perspective of our relationship to God and how it should impact our daily lives. The burden of the Lord to author this book is the desire for God to do that work in the heart of the readers as we peer into the beauty and glory of God.

Sovereignty, Grace, and Glory by Bob Lenz Pdf

This study of the character of three aspects of God is presented to assist the lay church person to understand and to be awed at the manner in which God deals with His creation. The book is also written to aid an unbeliever in understanding God's purpose for his life. The three aspects are the sovereignty of God, the mystery and beauty of His character; the grace of God, His modus operandi in dealing with His world; and the glory of God, His magnificence and ultimate purpose for His creation. Although sounding very technical, this book is for the scholarly as well as the everyday believer who desires to study the Word of God in depth. If we can comprehend the depth of meaning behind the fact that God is in control- his sovereignty, that he deals with us in constant grace, and sets before us a great and eternal destiny-glory, we'll be able to persevere and thrive joyfully, no matter what happens to us. Bob Lenz understands and communicates this. You'll be blessed and helped by reading the book. Bob has been in ministry for over fifty years. He was a former missionary with TEAM for twenty years in Indonesia. He has also taught at the Moody Bible Institute, Nipawin Bible Institute in Canada, Asian Theological Seminary in Manila, Philippines, and as an adjunct professor at the Asian Biblical Theological Seminary. He formerly held the position of editor for the publication Occasional Bulletin of the Evangelical Missiological Society for fifteen years. He has a diploma from Moody Bible Institute, BA from Bethel College in St. Paul MN, MRE from Grand Rapids Baptist Theological Seminary, and a D. Miss. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. The Sovereignty of God by Arthur W. Pink Pdf

In the following pages an attempt has been made to examine anew in the light of God's Word some of the profoundest questions which can engage the human mind. Oth¬ers have grappled with these mighty problems in days gone by and from their labors we are the gainers. While mak¬ing no claim for originality the writer, nevertheless, has endeavored to examine and deal with his subject from an entirely independent viewpoint. We have studied diligently the writings of such men as Augustine and Acquinas, Calvin and Melancthon, Jonathan Edwards and Ralph Erskine, Andrew Fuller and Robert Haldane.* And sad it is to think that these eminent and honored names are almost entirely unknown to the present generation. Though, of course, we do not endorse all their conclusions, yet we gladly acknowledge our deep indebtedness to their works. We have purposely refrained from quoting freely from these deeply taught theologians, because we desired that the faith of our readers should stand not in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. For this reason we have quoted freely from the Scriptures and have sought to furnish proof texts for every statement we have advanced. Arthur Walkington Pink was an English Christian evangelist and Biblical scholar known for his staunchly Calvinist and Puritan-like teachings. Though born to Christian parents, prior to conversion he migrated into a Theosophical society (an occult gnostic group popular in England during that time), and quickly rose in prominence within their ranks. His conversion came from his father's patient admonitions from Scripture. It was the verse, Proverbs 14:12, 'there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death,' which particularly struck his heart and compelled him to renounce Theosophy and follow Jesus.

The Doctrines of Grace by James Montgomery Boice,Philip Graham Ryken Pdf

There is no question that we live in an age of weak theology and casual Christianity. We have substituted intuition for truth, feeling for belief and immediate gratification for enduring hope. Evangelicalism desperately needs to return to the doctrines that once before reformed the world: radical depravity, unconditional election, particular redemption, efficacious grace and persevering grace. James Boice and Philip Ryken not only provide a compelling exposition on these doctrines of grace, but also look briefly at their historical impact. The authors leave no doubt that the church suffers when these foundational truths are neglected and that she must return to a Christianity that is practical-minded, kind-hearted, and most importantly, biblically based.
