The Doctrines of Grace by Charles H. Spurgeon Pdf

My own private opinion is that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and him crucified, unless you preach what now-a-days is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else. I do not believe we can preach the gospel, if we do not preach justification by faith, without works; nor unless we preach the sovereignty of God in his dispensation of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing, unchangeable, eternal, immutable, conquering, love of Jehovah: nor do I think we can preach the gospel, unless we base it upon the peculiar redemption which Christ made for his elect and chosen people; nor can I comprehend a gospel which lets saints fall away after they are called, and suffers the children of God to be burned in the fires of damnation after having believed. Such a gospel I abhor. The gospel of the Bible is not such a gospel. We preach Christ crucified in a different fashion, and to all gainsayers we reply. "We have not so learned Christ." (Charles Spurgeon)

Spurgeon and the Doctrines of Grace by Charles H. Spurgeon Pdf

"The old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach today, or else be false to my conscience and my God." The truth Charles Spurgeon was referring to was a system of beliefs known as "the doctrines of grace," or, more simply, "Calvinism." For Spurgeon, Calvinism was not some man-made concept foreign to the teachings of the Bible. Instead, it is the gospel message, the very teaching of holy Scripture. In this collection of sermons and writings, Spurgeon sets forth the biblical teaching of salvation and why it's important for us today.

An Exposition of the Doctrines of Grace by Charles Spurgeon Pdf

EXPOSITION OF THE DOCTRINES OF GRACETHURSDAY, APRIL 11th, 1861.THE REV. C. H. SPURGEON TOOK THE CHAIR AT 3 o'clock. The REV. C. H. SPURGEON in opening the proceedings said, we have met together beneath this roof already to set forth most of those truths in which consists the peculiarity of this Church. Last evening we endeavoured to show to the world, that we heartily recognised the essential union of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. And now, this afternoon and evening, it is our intention, through the lips of our brethren, to set forth those things which are verily received among us, and especially those great points which have been so often attacked, but which are still upheld and maintained,--truths which we have proved in our experience to be full of grace and truth. My only business upon this occasion is to introduce the brethren who shall address you, and I shall do so as briefly as possible, making what I shall say a preface to their remarks. The controversy which has been carried on between the Calvinist and the Arminian is exceedingly important, but it does not so involve the vital point of personal godliness as to make eternal life depend upon our holding either system of theology.

Sovereign Grace Pulpit by Charles H. Spurgeon,J. D. Watson Pdf

This 238-page book is a collection of Spurgeon's sermons (unabridged and modernized English) that cover all “five points” of the Doctrines of Grace. They were carefully selected to present Spurgeon's teaching accurately and succinctly so there won't be any misunderstanding or misrepresenting. We are deeply indebted to Larry Pierce (the developer of the classic Bible software program, The Online Bible) and his wife Marion for their diligent labor in modernizing Spurgeon's sermons, a task they began in 2008 and plan to complete in 2018. They graciously granted permission to use these modernized versions for this book. We have also added: more visible section headings and subheadings; additional paragraph breaks to split unusually long paragraphs; Scripture references in brackets so they can be listed in the “Scripture Index”; the occasional footnote to add helpful information or explanation; a four-page Publisher's Preface; and an eleven-page biogrpahical sketch of Spurgeon. Following an Introduction using Spurgeon's “A Defense of Calvinism,” this collection includes 12 of his sermons: “The Unconquerable King,” “Divine Sovereignty,” “Human Inability,” “Free Will a Slave,” “God's Will and Man's Will,” “Election,” “The Death Of Christ,” “Particular Redemption,” “Effectual Calling,” “The Security of Believers; or, Sheep Who Shall Never Perish,” “Perseverance of the Saints;” and “High Doctrine” (the Conclusion).

The Doctrines of Grace from the Lips of Our Lord by J. D. Watson Pdf

The doctrine of salvation is the watershed doctrine of Scripture. Flowing from that doctrine will be not only all other doctrine but also personal practice and Christian ministry. The major controversy concerning salvation is whether it is a result of the sovereign grace of God alone or a mixture of "God's part" and "man's part." Addressing that issue is absolutely critical to the very foundations of Christianity itself. Whichever one of those premises is correct, we should expect to find it everywhere we look in Scripture, and that is precisely what we find. There is no truth that permeates the Bible more than the doctrines of God's sovereign grace. From Genesis to Revelation, in literally hundreds of verses, these doctrines call, capture, and command our attention.Of the many books of the Bible we could choose, the Gospel of John is among the most compelling because of its foundational nature. It is there we find some of the most profound teaching on the Doctrines of Grace in all Scripture. Examining more than one hundred verses in John, this small volume presents these great biblical and historical doctrines directly from the lips of our Lord.

Spurgeon V. Hyper-Calvinism by Iain H. Murray Pdf

C.H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) is best-remembered today for the remarkable ministry he exercised in London during the Victorian era. His influence was incalculable. Thousands listened to his preaching every week, while hundreds of thousands throughout the world later read his sermons in published form. A man of great natural gifts, charm and wit, Spurgeons master passion was evident in everything he did to preach Jesus Christ to all as the only Saviour. But as early as 1855 this brought him into a serious and prolonged doctrinal controversy with Hyper-Calvinism. By tracing this conflict, exploring the issues involved in it and showing what was at stake in them.

What's So Great about the Doctrines of Grace? by Richard D. Phillips Pdf

Do Christians choose to have faith, or is faith a supernatural work of God? Far from an abstract intellectual exercise, this question has vast implications for the hope, joy, and assurance of the Christian life. When the truth of God's sovereign grace breaks into our minds and hearts, it changes everything. In What's So Great about the Doctrines of Grace? Dr. Richard D. Phillips takes us on a tour of the doctrines of grace, also known as the five points of Calvinism. With clear biblical exposition, he helps us to see the extent of our corruption in sin, to anchor our faith in the fullness of grace, and to trust in God's promise to finish what He started--the salvation of His people. When we rely on God's all-sufficient grace, we can truly live for His all-consuming glory.

The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon by Steven J. Lawson Pdf

Charles Spurgeon, the great Baptist preacher of nineteenth-century London, is remembered today as "the prince of preachers." However, the strength of Spurgeon's ministry went far beyond simple rhetorical skill. In The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon, new from Reformation Trust Publishing, author Steven J. Lawson shows that Spurgeon fearlessly taught the doctrines of grace and tirelessly held forth the free offer of salvation in Jesus Christ. In thirty-eight years as pastor of the congregation meeting at the New Park Street Chapel and later the Metropolitan Tabernacle, Spurgeon propounded Calvinistic theology with precision and clarity. Yet he always accompanied it with a passionate plea for sinners to come to Christ and be saved. Lawson traces these twin points of emphasis throughout Spurgeon's long, fruitful ministry, showing also that he preached Christ crucified without apology and looked to the Holy Spirit for success in all his endeavors.

All of Grace (Religious Study) by Charles Spurgeon Pdf

This eBook edition has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. All of Grace is a theological study by Charles Spurgeon who is known as the "Prince of Preachers". Grace is the hallmark of Christianity which is often out of the focus of the Christian church. Spurgeon suggests that the grace is the central glue of faith, redemption, and repentance. He argues that through grace, repentance gets a meaning. A gospel centered study tells about the greatness of Jesus and the Lord's redemptive heart towards his own. Spurgeon deals with the sin that entangles us by showing us Jesus. He reminds us that the Lord knows very well that we can't change our heart, but he can, when we submit to him by faith in Jesus. And with faith comes repentance.
