Stealing Genius by Steve Miller Pdf

Improvement is not innovation…and innovation is essential if your aim is to survive in today’s business environment. Stealing Genius lays the foundation for a dramatic, and long-overdue, shift in 21st-century strategic marketing and branding. Most executives and decision-makers are now focused on improving what they already have. They want better versions of the products and services they know about or understand. However, fixating on improvement in today’s world is a dangerous path—one that ultimately leads to commoditization and irrelevance. Targeting your time, attention, and resources on innovation, by contrast, means identifying something that does not exist right now in any form—something that will create a powerful, uncopyable experience for your target customer. In order to be successful both today and in the future, you need to separate yourself from the competition by practicing the breakthrough principle of Adaptive Innovation—what Steve Miller calls Stealing Genius™. How? By delivering an experience that the competition either cannot or will not attempt to copy. This is literally impossible if you stick to what is already familiar to you, because whatever is familiar to you and your customers is likely to be familiar to your competition. You must create a new experience that is unique to you and that fosters a powerful emotional attachment with your target customer. Featuring dozens of real-life case studies from a wide range of industries, Stealing Genius outlines Miller’s proven six-step process for creating an uncopyable experience. You’ll learn how to: Do more than think outside the box—you’ll build a new box completely Identify your “Moose,” the distinctive customer/client profile for which you are hunting Leverage insight from daily experience, personal heroes, and organizations outside your industry to better serve your customers Flip the competition by doing the exact opposite of what those in your industry are currently doing Maximize your strategic innovation by bringing in a Stealing Genius™ facilitator If you are trying to anticipate the crowd’s movement, you might as well be following the crowd. Create a truly original brand experience and start pioneering in your industry by implementing the game-changing process of Stealing Genius™.

Newfoundland Rhapsody by Glenn David Colton Pdf

Frederick Rennie Emerson (1895-1972) was a dynamic presence in the cultural and intellectual life of Newfoundland and Labrador for much of the twentieth century. A musician, lawyer, educator, and folklore enthusiast, Emerson was a central figure in the preservation and mediation of Newfoundland culture in the tumultuous decades prior to and following Confederation with Canada in 1949. Glenn Colton shows how Emerson fostered greater awareness and understanding of Newfoundland's cultural heritage in local, national, and international contexts. His collaboration with song collector Maud Karpeles in the late 1920s preserved some of the most cherished folk songs in the English language, and a decade later, his lectures at Memorial University College emphasized folk traditions and classical repertoire to inspire cultural discovery for an entire generation. As Newfoundland's representative on the first Canada Council and vice-president of the Canadian Folk Music Society, he played a crucial role in shaping Canadian cultural policy during the transformative years of the mid-twentieth century. Colton also reveals the meaningful creative works Emerson composed in response to the same cultural heritage he documented and preserved: his one-act drama Proud Kate Sullivan (1940) is a pioneering depiction of Newfoundland life, and the folk-inspired Newfoundland Rhapsody (1964) is one of few examples of symphonic music composed by a Newfoundlander of his generation. Newfoundland Rhapsody explores Newfoundland society, Canada's emerging arts scene, and the international folk music community to offer a new lens through which to view the cultural history of twentieth-century Newfoundland and Canada.

On the Enemy's Side by Hamour Baika Pdf

A breath-taking story about love and courage... [and] finding an inner compass that leads through chaos, destruction, and violence. With each sentence, one learns to be more historically aware, tolerant, courageous and loving. Botakoz Kassymbekova, historian and author of Despite Cultures Hamour Baika tells a necessary story... It’s necessary because it’s told with such urgency, beauty, and sensitivity. Baika layers in a hidden—and forbidden—history of gay men, giving those men a voice. John Copenhaver, award-winning author of Dodging and Burning On the Enemy's Side features well-developed characters, setting, and story-line... This novel is literary in tone and is reminiscent of the short story, "The Guest," by Albert Camus. While Hesam and Bahram are at the center of the novel, the themes of identity, honor, and morality in the face of oppressive systems repeats with each character. Angelic Rodgers, originally published on Reedsy Discovery Synopsis: In 1980, as the world is captivated by the Iranian hostage crisis, aspiring doctor Hesam drops out of medical school in Rome and returns to Iran to serve his country. A member of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, he becomes a prison guard in Ahwaz, assigned to investigate and interrogate political prisoners. The more he learns about ethnic and religious tensions, however, the more he finds the concept of revolutionary justice questionable. Hesam finds solace in speaking with a defiant young prisoner with whom he develops a passionate bond. But when Hesam discovers damning evidence about the detainee, he has to choose between his political ideals and his conscience in a country where same-sex love is violently condemned. On the Enemy’s Side is contemporary historical fiction, inspired by real events during a tumultuous period preceding the Iran Iraq war. Baika has crafted a memorable cast of characters of divergent and conflicting political allegiances, all who struggle to do the right thing in a morally complicated world. Astutely crafted, meticulously researched, and emotionally engaging, On the Enemy’s Side is a haunting modern classic about love during a civil war.
