David Fincher's Zodiac by Matthew Sorrento,David Ryan Pdf

David Fincher’s Zodiac (2007), written by producer James Vanderbilt and adapted from the true crime works of Robert Graysmith, remains one of the most respected films of the early twenty-first century. As the second film featuring a serial killer (and the first based on fact) by Fincher, Zodiac remains a standout in a varied but stylistically unified career. While connected to this genre, the film also hybridizes the policier genre and the investigative reporter film. And yet, scholarship has largely ignored the film. This collection is the first book-length work of criticism dedicated to the film. Section One focuses on early influences, while the second section analyzes the film’s unique treatment of narrative. The book closes with a section focusing on game theory, data and hegemony, the Zodiac’s treatment in music, and the use of sound in cinema. By offering new avenues and continuing a few established ones, this book will interest scholars of cinema and true crime along with fans and enthusiasts in these areas.

The Zodiac and the Soul by Charles E.O. Carter Pdf

In this book, Charles Carter (1887-1968) shows how the Zodiac of twelve constellations describes an ideal world. In other words, how the soul - the ideal - reveals itself in astrological terms. In the process, Carter invents a new form of rulerships, based on the traditional exaltations, which includes the outer planets. Carter also teases us with his unpublished system of numerology, which was based on 12, rather than the usual 10. As astrology is based around the numbers 2, 3, 4 and 12 (not 5 or 10), a base-12 number system is of immediate interest. Realizing his subject was abstract and unlikely to appeal to all, Carter also includes innovative ideas on directing, and on transits. The result is a book that fascinates on many levels. Charles E.O. Carter, one of the leading astrologers of the 20th century, was President of the Astrological Lodge at the Theosophical Society from 1920 to 1952. He was first Principal of the Faculty of Astrological Studies, which he helped found in 1948. He edited The Astrologer's Quarterly from 1926 until 1959. The Zodiac and the Soul was first published in 1928, with revisions in 1947, 1960, and 1968, the year of his death.

The Astrological Revolution by Robert A. Powell,Kevin Dann Pdf

Like the prostrate pilgrim on the front cover --with his head protruding through the vault of heaven to discern the working of the cosmos --humanity has for many centuries employed astrology to penetrate the mystery of the stars' relationship to human destiny. Based on decades of research into both astrological reincarnation and the history of astronomy/astrology, The Astrological Revolution unfolds this mystery. The reader is invited to call into question the basis of modern astrology. This basis, the tropical zodiac, emerged through Greek astronomers from what was originally a calendar dividing the year into twelve solar months. The fact that ninety-eight percent of Western astrologers use the tropical zodiac means that contemporary Western astrology is based on a calendar system that does not reflect the actual location of the planets against the background of the starry heavens. In other words, most astrologers in the West are practicing a form of astrology that no longer embodies the reality of the stars. What is needed to bring astrology (which means the "science of the stars") back into alignment with the stars in the heavens? The first step in an astrological revolution that leads to true astrology is to recognize the sidereal zodiac (sidereal meaning "related to the stars"). In antiquity, the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Hindus used the sidereal zodiac, and today Hindu (Vedic) astrologers still use the sidereal zodiac. Based on recognition --through the newly discovered rules of astrological reincarnation, that the sidereal zodiac presents an authentic astrological zodiac --a new practice of astrology is possible that offers tools to reestablish a wisdom-filled astrology in the modern world. This new astrology, based on the sidereal zodiac, is similar to the classic sidereal form but in a modern form, as that practiced by the three magi, who --prompted by the stars --journeyed to Bethlehem two thousand years ago. Drawing on specific biographical examples, The Astrological Revolution reveals new understandings of how the starry heavens work into human destiny. For instance, the book demonstrates the newly discovered rules of astrological reincarnation through the previous incarnations of composer Franz Schubert and his patron Joseph von Spaun --respectively, the Sultan of Morocco, Abu Yusuf Ya'qub, and his erstwhile enemy, Alfonso X, the Castilian King known as "El Sabio" (the Learned), along with their sidereal horoscopes. Rudolf Steiner's biography is also considered in relation to the sidereal zodiac and the rules of astrological reincarnation. After reestablishing the sidereal zodiac as a basis for astrology that penetrates the mystery of the stars' relationship to human destiny, the reader is invited to discover the astrological significance of the totality of the vast sphere of stars surrounding the Earth. The Astrological Revolution points to the astrological significance of the entire celestial sphere, including all the stars and constellations beyond the twelve zodiacal signs. This discovery is revealed by studying the megastars, the most luminous stars of our galaxy, illustrating how megastars show up in an extraordinary way in Christ's healing miracles by aligning with the Sun at the time of those miraculous events. The Astrological Revolution thus offers a spiritual --yet scientific --path of building a new relationship to the stars.

The Zodiac Rules by Seaward Alden-Rye Pdf

This wide-ranging book for the curious thinker – not just astrology buffs – makes a case for a return to the ancient sidereal zodiac. It was developed in Babylonia and inherited by India while the Greeks failed to understand the relation between the precession of the equinoxes (though already known to them) and the Eastern zodiac. The author, an academic, attempts to verify the truth claims of astrology to the satisfaction of a modern rational mind. That the sidereal zodiac has deigned to respond to this investigator's pilot studies apparently shows both that the questions posed must be the right ones, and also that you cannot flog a dead horse and expect a response – as earlier investigators of the tropical zodiac repeatedly have. Western man has falsely believed himself to be a Darwinian jungle animal, but the real humanity is altogether Another Kind. The zodiac hints of challenges faced by the journeying soul, but Western civilization has been hellbent on denying the true dignity of Man. Those in the habit of profiting on people weaker than themselves will not like the discoveries here presented. Theoretical, speculative as well as historical, the book even attempts to uncover a forgotten tradition about the evil star Algol, presumed to be a part of the astrological studies conducted by the original Palestinian Christians while still calling themselves the Children of Light. There's no denying some portions are complex; one may return to the contents several times and pick up new food for thought not noticed before. But the alert reader will be fascinated to find out how the zodiac appears to encode an ancient "psycho-cosmology" known from Roman philosopher Plotinus and Hinduism alike. Contrasting with the dense sample horoscope pointers, lighter strokes are used in presenting certain less well understood astrological symbols. Did you know that the secret to the Water Bearer may not primarily be the bearer but the utensil he holds? No matter one's background, the reader will emerge with new and surprising insights into the zodiac, this old manual for the way things are or should be. The book contains a condensed account of the cosmology around year 1, closely related to the Cardinal Vices and Virtues – themes running like a thread throughout the book. These chapters also require keeping one's wits to hand, but for good measure some light-hearted (though not frivolous) studies are also thrown in the pot. Like a fun but also slightly sad analysis of a number of so-called glamour models, their horoscopes and how these account for the way the models describe their work publicly. Not for many hundred years have the zodiac signs rung so true! There is also a chapter on the Nobel Prize laureates in literature that segues into one on Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford and convincingly shown by competent researchers to be the most likely author behind the nom de plume Shakespeare. This may be also the first book ever that seriously tries to show crummy political views to be a function of poor birth omens. This author subscribes to Plato's view that only high-caliber people, evolved above the animal instincts like greed and lust should be allowed to helm a country. It will become more and more obvious as you read this one-of-a-kind book that there really is only one ideology for the world-to-come (Age of Aquarius) that is in harmony with the sanatana dharma, the eternal and moral world-order. This unusual book has been composed with at least three types of reader in mind. It contains enough orientation for an astrological novice while simultaneously catering to the needs of the more advanced student. It also addresses the skeptic, while all the while in fact being an apologetic for… philosophic idealism! Is it really possible to squeeze all this into five-hundred pages? Read the book and judge for yourself. You'll be the richer for it.

The End of the Zodiac Mystery by Michael N. Wakshull Pdf

The Most Dangerous Animal of All was co-written by the estranged son of California's infamous Zodiac killer to reveal his father's true identity. When the book hit the streets the skeptics were in full force. Just like those who mocked the boy who cried wolf, no one could blame them. Too many people had already claimed to either be the killer or to know who he really was. The problem is-the skeptics weren't considering the handwriting comparisons skillfully performed by Document Examiner, Michael Wakshull, to finally crack the case. The End of the Zodiac Mystery will enable you to reach your own conclusion whether this decades-long cold case has finally been solved. In it, Wakshull walks you step-by-step through his intriguing forensic analysis, revealing the methodology he used to solve the case other document examiners refused to accept. There is a twist to every story, and his methodology required a twist, too, in order to ensure a credible conclusion. Where The Most Dangerous Animal of All leaves off, The End of the Zodiac Mystery picks up, sharing actual handwriting comparisons between Earl Van Best Jr. and the self-named Zodiac killer. It is virtually certain the documents were written by the same man. If you like surprise endings, don't start reading from the back of the book. Save the thrill in the epilogue for the end!
