Systematic Theology by Katherine Sonderegger Pdf

This systematic theology begins from the treatise De Deo Uno and develops the dogma of the Trinity as an expression of divine unicity, on which will depend creation, Christology, and ecclesiology. The Invisible God must be seen and known in the visible. In this way, God and God's relation to creation are distinguished—but not separated—from Christology, the doctrine of perfections from redemption. In the end, the transcendent beauty who is God can be known only in worship and praise.

Systematic Theology by Paul Tillich Pdf

This is the first part of Paul Tillich's three-volume Systematic Theology, one of the most profound statements of the Christian message ever composed and the summation and definitive presentation of the theology of the most influential and creative American theologian of the twentieth century. In this path-breaking volume Tillich presents the basic method and statement of his system—his famous "correlation" of man's deepest questions with theological answers. Here the focus is on the concepts of being and reason. Tillich shows how the quest for revelation is integral to reason itself. In the same way a description of the inner tensions of being leads to the recognition that the quest for God is implied in finite being. Here also Tillich defines his thought in relation to philosophy and the Bible and sets forth his famous doctrine of God as the "Ground of Being." Thus God is understood not as a being existing beside other beings, but as being-itself or the power of being in everything. God cannot be made into an object; religious knowledge is, therefore, necessarily symbolic.

Systematic Theology : Volume 1: The Triune God by Minnesota Robert W. Jenson Director Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theory Pdf

The Triune God, together with the forthcoming second volume, The Works of God, develops a compendious statement of Christian theology in the tradition of a medieval summa, or of such modern works as those of Schleiermacher and Barth. Theology, as it is understood here, is the Christian church's continuing discourse concerning her specific communal purpose; it is the hermeneutic and critical reflection internal to the church's task of speaking the gospel, to the world as message and to God in petition and praise. This volume and its successor are thus dedicated to the service of the one church of the creeds; it is for no particular denomination or confession. The interlocutors of this work's analyses and proposals are drawn from wherever in the ecumenical tradition a question may lead: to theologians and traditions ancient, medieval, or modern; Eastern or Western; Catholic or Protestant.

Perspectives on the Doctrine of God by Bruce A. Ware,Paul Helm,Roger E. Olson,John Sanders Pdf

These questions are irresistible to ponder. The Bible says, "For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor? Or who has ever first given to Him, and has to be repaid? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things" (Romans 11:34-36a, Holman CSB).

Lectures in Systematic Theology by Greg Nichols Pdf

"So the Lord said to Moses, "I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name." And he said, "Please, show me Your glory."" (Exodus 33:17-18) Moses hungered to see God's glory. He pleaded: "Show me, I pray you, your glory." This should be our prayer as we study the doctrine of God. Reverent hunger to see God's glory should motivate us. We must hunger to see the glory of his existence, knowledge, nature, names, and decree. We must hunger to know God and thirst after the knowledge of God. Further, the Lord promised to give Moses the desire of his heart: "I will make all my good-ness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before you." God also fulfilled this promise. When we come to God with reverent hunger, he will fill our hearts with the knowledge of himself. He will not disappoint us. He will surely show us his glory, and satisfy us with the display of his Name. ...We should not approach the doctrine of God with a critical spirit, or as a philosophical quest with a hunger for speculation. If any course in systematic theology should evoke spiritual hunger, this one should. The doctrine of God should never be dull, or dry, or speculative, or philosophical. It should pulse with spiritual life and hunger. Let's approach this subject with Moses' disposition. (Excerpt from the book)

Systematic Theology, Volume 2 by Katherine Sonderegger Pdf

Katherine Sonderegger follows her monumental volume on the doctrine of God with this second entry of her Systematic Theology, which explores the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. Locating her analysis first in the Hebrew Scriptures, Sonderegger examines the thrice-holy God that is proclaimed to Isaiah in the sanctuary and manifested in the sacrifice of the temple. The book of Leviticus, read in conversation with Exodus, unfolds the doctrine of the Trinity under the character of holiness. In the One God, Trinity speaks of the life, movement, and self-offering of God, who is the eternal procession of goodness and light. In Israel's sacrificial covenant, the Triune God is perfect self-offering: the eternal descent of the Father of Lights is the offering who is Son, eternally received and hallowed in the one who is Spirit. Anchoring the theology of the Trinity in Israel's Scriptures in this way elevates the processions over the persons, exploring the mystery of the Divine Life as holy, rational, and good. The Divine Persons, named in the New Testament, cannot be defined but may be glimpsed in the notion of perfection, a complete and perfect infinite set. In all these ways, the Holy Trinity may be praised as the deep reality of the life of God.

Systematic Theology Made Easy by C. Matthew McMahon Pdf

This work takes the major themes of systematic theology and places them in an easy to understand format. This is an introductory work for those beginning to study this subject, and deals with systematic theology in bite-size portions, or theological sound-bytes. The Word of God was given to the Church of Jesus Christ to disclose God's character, will, acts and plans. In the Word of God is found a host of different subjects that, when compiled, gives the reader the ability to know what God says on those subjects which are revealed in and through the holy Scriptures. Subjects covered in this work range from the science of theology, to the doctrines of Scripture, of God, of man, of salvation, covenant theology, the person and work of Jesus Christ, the benefits of redemption, the Law of God and even eschatology, including the doctrines of heaven and hell. This is a perfect primer for the new student of theology, or a refresher for those who want to study the marrow of systematic theology without needing to wade through other volumes which span thousands of pages.
