Tarzan and the Golden Lion (Serapis Classics) by Edgar Rice Burroughs Pdf

The story picks up with the Clayton family, Tarzan, Jane Porter and their son Korak, returning from their adventures in the previous novel (#8). Along the way they find an orphaned lion cub, which Tarzan takes home and trains. Flora Hawkes, a previous housemaid of the Clayton's had overheard of Tarzan's discovery of the treasure chamber in the lost city of Opar (from The Return of Tarzan and Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar) and had managed to copy his map to it. She concocted a plan to lead an expedition to collect the gold. As a contingency to discourage any local denizens from questioning them, she sought out and found a Tarzan look-alike named Esteban Miranda to accompany them. Two years passed since the Clayton family picked up their lion cub, making the year around 1935 and Tarzan would have been about 47 years old. His Greystoke estate had become financially depleted due his support of the Allies war efforts and he concluded it was time to return to Opar for another withdrawal.

He meets villain's party and ends up in the hands of the Oparians. Queen La felt she had nothing to lose by escaping with Tarzan through the only unguarded route-a path to the legendary valley of diamonds, from which no one had ever returned. There, Tarzan found a race of humans who were little better than animals in intelligence, being enslaved by a race of intelligent gorillas. With the help of his golden lion Jad-bal-ja, Tarzan used the natives to restore La to power. Tarzan eventually confronts the villains and, as always, wins.

Tarzan and the Golden Lion by Edgar Rice Burroughs Pdf

Tarzan had been betrayed. Drugged and helpless, he was delivered into the hands of the dreadful priests of Opar, last bastion of ancient Atlantis. La, High Priestess of the Flaming God, had saved him once again, driven by her hopeless love for the ape-man. But now she was betrayed and threatened by her people. To save her, Tarzan fled with her into the legendary Valley of Diamonds, while Jad-bal-ja, his faithful golden lion, followed. Ahead lay a land where savage gorillas ruled over servile men. And behind, Estaban Miranda - who looked exactly like Tarzan - plotted further treachery. We are delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. The aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature, and our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. AND so Tarzan of the Apes, and Jane Clayton, and Korak came home after a long absence andwith them came Jad-bal-ja, the golden lion, and Za, the bitch. Among the first to meet them and towelcome them home was old Muviro, father of Wasimbu, who had given his life in defense of thehome and wife of the ape-man."Ah, Bwana," cried the faithful black, "my old eyes are made young again by the sight of you. Ithas been long that you have been gone, but though many doubted that you would return, oldMuviro knew that the great world held nothing that might overcome his master. And so he knew, too, that his master would return to the home of his love and the land where his faithful Waziriawaited him; but that she, whom we have mourned as dead, should have returned is beyond belief, and great shall be the rejoicing in the huts of the Waziri tonight. And the earth shall tremble to thedancing feet of the warriors and the heavens ring with the glad cries of their women, since the threethey love most on earth have come back to them."And in truth, great indeed was the rejoicing in the huts of the Waziri. And not for one nightalone, but for many nights did the dancing and the rejoicing continue until Tarzan was compelled toput a stop to the festivities that he and his family might gain a few hours of unbroken slumber. Theape-man found that not only had his faithful Waziri, under the equally faithful guidance of hisEnglish foreman, Jervis, completely rehabilitated his stables, corrals, and outbuildings as well as thenative huts, but had restored the interior of the bungalow, so that in all outward appearances theplace was precisely as it had been before the raid of the German
