Teaching as Paul Taught by RoyCheck B. Zuck Pdf

Though books on Paul's life and writing abound, very few works have examined the apostle's teaching techniques. In this companion to 'Teaching as Jesus Taught,' Roy Zuck probes Paul's pedagogy to discover principles for effective teaching today. According to Zuck, the apostle Paul stands as a master teacher. "Analyzing and following Paul's educational goals and strategies," Zuck writes, "can help us become better teachers of God's Word. Examining his pedagogy can acquaint us with a number of important principles and procedures in teaching." 'Teaching as Paul Taught' explores the many New Testament references to Paul's teaching as well as the historical and cultural context in which the apostle taught. Zuck carefully organizes this extensive material around fifteen key questions regarding the teaching ministry of Paul. Over twenty tables and questions for reflection at the end of each chapter aid readers in following Paul's example. The result is a comprehensive and practical handbook for everyone involved in a teaching ministry.

Jeff Young Prestonwood Church, Dallas, TX This study is not an examination of what Jesus taught. It is an examination of how Jesus taught. In this book, you will learn. . . • Why is story such an effective way to teach? Where to find great stories. It is easier than it has ever been. What makes a great story? • How many times did Jesus ask questions? I was shocked by the answer. • What did Jesus expect of his disciples and how does expectation affect teaching? • Jesus wasn't always meek and mild and if you want to teach like Jesus you should raise your voice from time to time. • Teaching is not just about teaching. It is also about relationship. Love like Jesus. • Jesus teaching was not always clear. We are still fighting about it today. Why is that? Why wasn't Jesus clearer when he taught? • Jesus often taught in apparent contradiction. He told us to let our light so shine before men and to be careful not to do our acts of righteousness before men. He made these two statements in one sermon. What do we learn about teaching from that? • Jesus teaching was shocking to his original audience. Sometimes it shocks us. This book is born out of a careful study of the life of Christ taken from the gospels in the original Greek. Background information is from respected commentaries as well as the latest brain science on how we learn. This book has one simple goal: Teach like Jesus.

Did Jesus Teach Salvation by Works? by Alan P. Stanley Pdf

This book investigates the role of works in salvation in the Synoptic Gospels. Jesus was all too aware of people who claimed to believe in Him and yet proved to be not truly born again (e.g., John 2:23-25; 8:31-46). A profession of faith made at some point during one's life is no guarantee that heaven awaits that person. Such professions or conversion experiences must be followed by changed lives if faith is to be shown to be genuine saving faith. Hence Jesus teaches that regardless of one's profession, if one does not demonstrate a changed life produced by God, one will not enter into heaven. Such a judgment will be made when Jesus returns and judges every person according to his or her works. While this may seem contradictory to some more well-known passages ruling out the role of works in salvation (e.g., Rom 3:21-4:25; Gal 2:16-21; Eph 2:8-9), there is every good reason to understand that Jesus' teachings complement such passages. The works that admit one into heaven are not works produced by the flesh before conversion but works produced by God after conversion. They will fundamentally be characterized by a life of discipleship, love for others, and endurance in faith and obedience, and will therefore serve to confirm that one indeed did have a relationship with God during one's life. Hence Jesus did teach salvation by works. However God is the one who produces the works and they occur after conversion. Thus salvation is not one's initial conversion but one's final entrance into heaven.
