Quicklet On Richard Templar's Rules of Management by Jason Warner Pdf

ABOUT THE BOOK When I was a young man trying to make my mark in the software business, I was exposed to many different types of leadership personalities. This experience shaped my understanding of management, as it would any wide-eyed college graduate. I tried to emulate the people in positions of power, watched the people in various positions of authority, and started to build my mental framework for what it meant to manage by what they did. After all, they say the quickest way to success is to find out what successful people do and put what you learn into action. The problem? It was a mirage. Just because managers were in charge didn’t mean they were going to be successful. After watching for a bit I started to realize that all bad managers had one thing in common: "going down in flames." It might have taken some time, but eventually they all stalled and failed. Maybe they lost their team, maybe they made false promises one too many times, or maybe their irritating attitudes finally caught up with them. Eventually, people figured them out and jettisoned them as dead weight. I got lucky. When I was put in charge of a small software development team at the ripe old age of 22, a friend gave me Richard Templar’s The Rules of Management as a "good luck" gift. That night I read it cover-to-cover – twice. With no exaggeration, there was more wisdom in those pages than anything I had experienced, seen, or read up to that point on management. There was no secret wisdom, no hidden management guru framework, no convoluted advice. Instead, Templar applied common sense to the concept of management. MEET THE AUTHOR Jason Warner is an programmer, leader, author and open source enthusiast. Reading The Rules of Management has become a bit of a rite of passage for new managers. There are very few books universally applicable to management in different industries, but The Rules of Management bridges these divides and can be used by anyone in any management position. The Rules of Management has become a cult hit among first-time and emerging managers and leaders. It is often referenced in blog posts, on lists of “must read management books,” and cited as an influential read by many new managers. The book is not just for new managers, though. Seasoned managers have much to gain from it as well. It can serve as reinforcement of good practices and help identify and name bad practices. Good leaders are constantly striving for improvement and looking for ways to change and make gains. The Frenchman by Jack Beaumont Pdf

Based on the experiences of a real French spy, Jack Beaumont’s first-hand knowledge and experiences make this thriller plausible and frightening as you’re plunged into the very real world of terror, espionage, and danger. Alec de Payns is an undercover operative in the ultra-elusive French Y Division of the DGSE, a foreign intelligence service equivalent to the CIA or MI6. Code named Aguilar, de Payns is one of the division’s most accomplished agents working to neutralize international threats on a daily basis while simultaneously trying to balance his home life as a husband and father. When a routine mission to infiltrate a dangerous terrorist group unexpectedly goes belly up, Alec is faced with the unthinkable: that he may have been betrayed by someone in his close-knit team—and they may be trying to pin the blame on Alec himself. Back in Paris, Alec is assigned to investigate a secretive biological weapons facility in Pakistan which the DGSE believes to be producing a newly weaponized strain of bacteria, intended for release in France. As Alec works to uncover the facility’s secrets, he must also fight to clear his name and discover who the mole is before it’s too late. It’s not just his reputation that’s at stake—it’s the lives of his wife, two young children, and the entire population of Paris.

George Pérez by Patrick L. Hamilton Pdf

Born in the South Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, artist and writer George Pérez (1954–2022) cut his teeth in the 1970s as an artist at Marvel who worked on lesser titles like The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu and Creatures on the Loose, and then mainstays like Fantastic Four and The Avengers. In the 1980s, Pérez jumped ship to DC where he helped turn The New Teen Titans into a top-selling title and cocreated Crisis on Infinite Earths, which marked the publisher’s fiftieth anniversary and consolidated its sprawling universe. As writer and artist, Pérez relaunched DC’s Wonder Woman, a run that later inspired much of the 2017 film. Though Pérez’s style is highly recognizable, his contributions to comic art and history have not been fully acknowledged. In George Pérez, author Patrick L. Hamilton addresses this neglect, first, by discussing Pérez’s artistic style within the context of Bronze Age superhero art, and second, by analyzing Pérez’s work for its representations of race, disability, and gender. Though he struggled with deadlines and health issues in the 1990s, Pérez would reintroduce himself and his work to a new generation of comics fans with a return to Marvel’s The Avengers, as well as attempts at various creator-owned comics, the last of these being Sirens from Boom! Studios in 2014. Throughout his career, Pérez established a dynamic and minutely detailed style of comic art that was both unique and influential.

The Lion’s Prophecy by Michael Gaddis Pdf

Colonel Maria Olsen, decorated veteran of the Afghanistan and Iranian campaigns and the general’s onetime companion, will be compelled to leave her spiritual retreat and join him on this, his final mission. Together, they will face hardship and mortal danger as General Scofield leads his army to a climactic confrontation with his nation’s enemies. Before joining him in death, Maria’s last act of devotion will be to seek revenge against his mortal enemy, a mysterious Saudi Prince known to them through the general’s Angelic prophecy.” The Lion’s Prophecy opens with the nuclear destruction of Washington DC and New York City, and the deaths in those blasts of our nation’s most prominent political and financial leaders. Only one man alive has the technological ability and the moral courage to rally the country, rout its enemies, and save the United States from destruction: General Michael Scofield, “The Lion.” Will he unleash World War III with his menacing display of destructive power? Will he “stand down” at war’s end, or dictate terms to the country’s new leadership? Will his secret research into genetic design change the very nature of mankind? These are the questions asked in The Lion’s Prophecy. With its global action and life-altering technologies, "The Lion’s Prophecy" is the ultimate novel for fans of futuristic techno-thrillers. Prophecy also provides food for thought for readers in search of an alternative spiritual zeitgeist. The saga explores the impact of technology on war, and the impact of both on the material and spiritual existence of mankind. "The Lion’s Prophecy" can be read on many different levels -- as a fast-moving adventure story, as a cautionary tale about the subduction of our humanity by genetic engineering and other technological marvels, or as a spiritual journey in which the protagonists confront their inner demons and triumph over them.

Famous for a Time by Jason Wilson,Richard M. Reid Pdf

Celebrating Canadian athletes and sporting history. The cultural impact of sport on a nation is not slight. Famous for a Time explores a number of important, if not well remembered, Canadian athletes and the sports they played to help explain the nation’s complicated history, sporting and otherwise. It is an exploration that reveals the socio-cultural trends that have shaped Canada since Confederation. Through the prism of some exceptional athletes, the prevailing attitudes of many Canadians about class, race, masculinity, femininity, and national identity are laid bare. Here, from the sidelines, we learn how these attitudes have changed — or not, as the case may be — over time. From team sports such as lacrosse, baseball, and cricket to Canada’s cycling craze, track and field, and boxing, each chapter offers insight into an important aspect of the nation’s narrative. The winners and losers of Canada’s games simply mirror the larger questions that have faced Canadian society across three centuries.
