Racial Wellness by Jacquelyn Ogorchukwu Iyamah Pdf

A guide and workbook centered on self-care, healing, and empowerment for Black, Indigenous, and people of color—from racial wellness visionary and designer Jacquelyn Ogorchukwu Iyamah. As a society, we rarely talk about how racism affects the holistic health of Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Author and healing-informed designer Jacquelyn Ogorchukwu Iyamah refers to racism as “the multifaceted abuser” because of the ways it affects the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of BIPOC. Whether these communities are experiencing microaggressions or overt racism, they are constantly forced to practice resistance. Using her background in social welfare and interaction design, Iyamah seeks to stimulate revolutionary healing for communities of color, shifting the conversation from racial trauma to racial wellness. This powerful book helps BIPOC understand, reflect, and cope with racial trauma. Divided into five sections—emotional wellness, mental wellness, physical wellness, spiritual wellness, and our interconnected wellness—Iyamah lends readers a gentle hand on their journey toward racial wellness by providing ways to heal on individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels, while encouraging deeper reflection through insightful journal prompts. Filled with uplifting affirmations, tender reminders, love letters, and helpful graphics sprinkled throughout, Racial Wellness is as informative as it is comforting, offering communities of color the opportunity to rest, rehabilitate, and rebuild.

The Wall Around Your Heart by Mary E DeMuth Pdf

Family members hurt us. Friends betray us. Fellow Christians deceive us. But Jesus provides a path through the pain—the Lord’s Prayer. In The Wall Around Your Heart, Mary DeMuth shows you that you can reach wholeness and healing in the aftermath of painful relationships by following the road map of the Lord’s Prayer. You’ll walk through story after story of hurt people who are led through biblical truth into amazing, life-sustaining, joyful growth. Life is hard. People can be mean and petty and awful. But they can also be amazing and beautiful and sacrificial. God is good. He is faithful. You can trust him with your relationships. “He’ll send people to call out what is hard in your heart,” Mary shares. “And that’s a gift to you.” Allow God to access the wall around your heart. Dare to say, “Tear down the bricks, Lord, whatever it takes.” Pray first. Ask for bravery—for yourself and for others. Risk engaging despite your hurt. Seek the shelter of Jesus. You don’t have to resign yourself to your wounds! You can rise above the pain. You’ll usher in a new life—an openhearted way of relating to others that expands the kingdom of God. In the process, you’ll draw closer to Jesus, be healed, and become an agent of healing to others.

MAKING AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY in the POLITICAL PRESSURE COOKER by O. Lawrence Burnette, Jr. Pdf

This little volume of eight case studies in American foreign policy grew out of the author's course on that subject in a Leisure Learning offering at the University of West Florida during the Presidential campaign in 2008. It is, therefore, designed to appeal to the causal and well as the serious, scholarly student of how foreign policy is made. The thesis of the work is that major mistakes in the past have been made precisely because foreign policy, used as a wedge issue in Presidential campaigns, has been made without long-term analysis of the implications of policy so hastily made, and for the most base of political purposes. The conclusion is a plea for reducing the frequency of making such mistakes under such pressure, relieving the nation of the necessity to rue the resulting mistakes. That begs the question, "How do the citizens of a democracy, such as the American, have input into the creation of foreign policy, surely a vital function of political debate, without falling into the trap illustrated by these eight case studies?" Both general and specific recommendations are made, reflecting the author's academic and real-world foreign policy experience.
