Test and Design-for-Testability in Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits by Jose Luis Huertas Díaz Pdf

Test and Design-for-Testability in Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits deals with test and design for test of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. Especially in System-on-Chip (SoC), where different technologies are intertwined (analog, digital, sensors, RF); test is becoming a true bottleneck of present and future IC projects. Linking design and test in these heterogeneous systems will have a tremendous impact in terms of test time, cost and proficiency. Although it is recognized as a key issue for developing complex ICs, there is still a lack of structured references presenting the major topics in this area. The aim of this book is to present basic concepts and new ideas in a manner understandable for both professionals and students. Since this is an active research field, a comprehensive state-of-the-art overview is very valuable, introducing the main problems as well as the ways of solution that seem promising, emphasizing their basis, strengths and weaknesses. In essence, several topics are presented in detail. First of all, techniques for the efficient use of DSP-based test and CAD test tools. Standardization is another topic considered in the book, with focus on the IEEE 1149.4. Also addressed in depth is the connecting design and test by means of using high-level (behavioural) description techniques, specific examples are given. Another issue is related to test techniques for well-defined classes of integrated blocks, like data converters and phase-locked-loops. Besides these specification-driven testing techniques, fault-driven approaches are described as they offer potential solutions which are more similar to digital test methods. Finally, in Design-for-Testability and Built-In-Self-Test, two other concepts that were taken from digital design, are introduced in an analog context and illustrated for the case of integrated filters. In summary, the purpose of this book is to provide a glimpse on recent research results in the area of testing mixed-signal integrated circuits, specifically in the topics mentioned above. Much of the work reported herein has been performed within cooperative European Research Projects, in which the authors of the different chapters have actively collaborated. It is a representative snapshot of the current state-of-the-art in this emergent field.

Digital Signal Processing Using MATLAB & Wavelets added for testing purpose by Michael Weeks Pdf

Although Digital Signal Processing (DSP) has long been considered an electrical engineering topic, recent developments have also generated significant interest from the computer science community. DSP applications in the consumer market, such as bioinformatics, the MP3 audio format, and MPEG-based cable/satellite television have fueled a desire to understand this technology outside of hardware circles. Designed for upper division engineering and computer science students as well as practicing engineers and scientists, Digital Signal Processing Using MATLAB & Wavelets, Second Edition emphasizes the practical applications of signal processing. Over 100 MATLAB examples and wavelet techniques provide the latest applications of DSP, including image processing, games, filters, transforms, networking, parallel processing, and sound. This Second Edition also provides the mathematical processes and techniques needed to ensure an understanding of DSP theory. Designed to be incremental in difficulty, the book will benefit readers who are unfamiliar with complex mathematical topics or those limited in programming experience. Beginning with an introduction to MATLAB programming, it moves through filters, sinusoids, sampling, the Fourier transform, the z-transform and other key topics. Two chapters are dedicated to the discussion of wavelets and their applications. A CD-ROM (platform independent) accompanies every new printed copy of the book and contains source code, projects for each chapter, and the figures from the book. (eBook version does not include the CD-ROM)

Bispectral Methods of Signal Processing by Alexander V. Totsky,Alexander A. Zelensky,Victor F. Kravchenko Pdf

By studying applications in radar, telecommunications and digital image restoration, this monograph discusses signal processing techniques based on bispectral methods. Improved robustness against different forms of noise as well as preservation of phase information render this method a valuable alternative to common power-spectrum analysis used in radar object recognition, digital wireless communications, and jitter removal in images.

Aspects of Signal Processing by G. Tacconi Pdf

The summer school held in Portovenere followed a tutorial format with the purpose of familiarizing postdoctoral or postgraduate students in the basic theories and up-to-date applications of present knowledge. Although, from a teaching point of view, a certain areount of overlapping is always useful, in order to avoid excessive duplication direct contact between lecturers expert in the same subject was encouraged during the preparation phase. In recent years computer facilities and theoretical implementa tion have considerably increased the possibility of solving problems relating to signal detection in noise. Any type of communication may take advantage of signal processing principles, including any type of physical measurement that can be considered as a non-semantic and/or quasi-semantic communication. Since signal processing techniques are common to many branches of science (telecommunications, radar, sonar, seismology, geophysics, nuclear research, space research and others), the advanced and sophisticated levels reached singularly in anyone of them could be used to the advantage of the others. In particular, underwater acoustics is a discipline which, to some extent, represents a practical general model that has permitted the development of signal processing techniques suitable to meet data reduction and interpretation needs of other branches of science. This ASI consequently underlined the inter-disciplinarity of signal proces sing in order that the principles of outstanding methods developed in one field may be adapted to others.

Testing and Diagnosis of Analog Circuits and Systems by Ruey-wen Liu Pdf

IS THE TOPIC ANALOG TESTING AND DIAGNOSIS TIMELY? Yes, indeed it is. Testing and Diagnosis is an important topic and fulfills a vital need for the electronic industry. The testing and diagnosis of digital electronic circuits has been successfuIly developed to the point that it can be automated. Unfortu nately, its development for analog electronic circuits is still in its Stone Age. The engineer's intuition is still the most powerful tool used in the industry! There are two reasons for this. One is that there has been no pressing need from the industry. Analog circuits are usuaIly small in size. Sometimes, the engineer's experience and intuition are sufficient to fulfill the need. The other reason is that there are no breakthrough results from academic re search to provide the industry with critical ideas to develop tools. This is not because of a lack of effort. Both academic and industrial research groups have made major efforts to look into this problem. Unfortunately, the prob lem for analog circuits is fundamentally different from and much more diffi cult than its counterpart for digital circuits. These efforts have led to some important findings, but are still not at the point of being practicaIly useful. However, these situations are now changing. The current trend for the design of VLSI chips is to use analog/digital hybrid circuits, instead of digital circuits from the past. Therefore, even Ix x Preface though the analog circuit may be small, the total circuit under testing is large.

Speech and Audio Signal Processing by Ben Gold,Nelson Morgan,Dan Ellis Pdf

When Speech and Audio Signal Processing published in 1999, it stood out from its competition in its breadth of coverage and its accessible, intutiont-based style. This book was aimed at individual students and engineers excited about the broad span of audio processing and curious to understand the available techniques. Since then, with the advent of the iPod in 2001, the field of digital audio and music has exploded, leading to a much greater interest in the technical aspects of audio processing. This Second Edition will update and revise the original book to augment it with new material describing both the enabling technologies of digital music distribution (most significantly the MP3) and a range of exciting new research areas in automatic music content processing (such as automatic transcription, music similarity, etc.) that have emerged in the past five years, driven by the digital music revolution. New chapter topics include: Psychoacoustic Audio Coding, describing MP3 and related audio coding schemes based on psychoacoustic masking of quantization noise Music Transcription, including automatically deriving notes, beats, and chords from music signals. Music Information Retrieval, primarily focusing on audio-based genre classification, artist/style identification, and similarity estimation. Audio Source Separation, including multi-microphone beamforming, blind source separation, and the perception-inspired techniques usually referred to as Computational Auditory Scene Analysis (CASA).
