I Am Strong by John S. Dickerson Pdf

For many, the Christian life looks like this: You call out to God. Your problems get worse. You suffer and wait. Nothing changes. Author John S. Dickerson knows the feeling. A rare health condition drove him to examine the Bible's claim that "when I am weak, then I am strong." As a journalist, Dickerson has seen severe human suffering. As a pastor, he has comforted others through unimaginable grief. He wrote I Am Strong to give understanding, hope, and strength to the hurting. In its chapters, I Am Strong equips you to: Unlock God’s strength for your difficulties. Understand how a loving God will resolve your pain. Know God's plan to repurpose your pain, injustice, and inadequacy. Understand why your suffering does not mean God is punishing you. Overcome life's circumstances as Christ and Paul did. Discover the life-changing power of God's strength in your weakness. I Am Strong breathes hope and comfort. Much more, it offers daily practices and lifelong vision on which to build an unshakeable life of meaning and peace.

Wake Up, Lazarus! by Pierre Hegy Pdf

Today's Catholic Church faces a major decline, and a dramatic renewal is needed to facilitate positive change. Three general factors that contribute to the spiritual decline of all mainline churches and three factors that are special to the Catholic Church. Hegy describes the inner workings of two successful parishes - one evangelical and the other Catholic - to illustrate the strategies used that contribute to vibrant and growing church communities. He also reviews various renewal plans and then presents his personal, long-term plan for renewal in the Catholic Church, with practical implementation suggestions included in each step.

My Struggle, My Pain, My Victory by Malicia Campbell Pdf

Hi, I'm Evangelist Malicia M Campbell, I would like welcome you to walk with me. Though, I didn't choose this life for myself, I am certain that God knew all about it from the very beginning. I must say, my walk with God has not always been easy. I have had to endure many ups and downs, much pain, and have shed many tears. Yet, God stuck by me every step of the way. When God spoke to me concerning this book, I must say I wasn't very excited. I remember, talking to God and saying to him, "Sure God, I can write a Book". That was, until, he spoke back and said, "Not any book, but, a book about your life". Immediately, I thought, writing a book about my life would bring back a lot of memories, pain and even some shameful things that I wasn't so proud of. It was then God let me know, that this book was not about my needs, but, the need of his people. He said, "Others need to know that I am God, from someone who, truly, knows I am God". He said," This book shall bring divine healing, deliverance, freedom, and restoration to many lives, souls shall be saved from your testimony". Writing this book has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. Yet, it has been one of my most rewarding accomplishments. This, assignment, has brought me great healing from the inside out. As I wrote this book, there was purpose in mind, to help Heal, Empower, Push, Encourage and, help Deliver souls that have been in bondage to past hurt, betrayal, disappointments, and faced many adversaries. It is my prayer that, this divine, anointed, assignment will, destroy every yoke of the enemy pertaining to your life and, empower you to be able to serve God freely. Though, I have chosen not to name certain others in my writing, the events in this book are true events pertaining to my life. Though, it has taken longer than I expected to write and release this book due to my healing process in writing, I am certain that, it is in God's perfect timing. Many days, I had to get up from my computer and walk away in tears from memories, and emotions of reliving some of the events I pray that as you read this book, your past hurt be healed as, I was healed in writing it. I pray, your struggles produce power, and your pain produce purpose. I Prophesy Now, as you begin to open this book and read my Testimony, Chains of the past be Broken, Your Heart is mended, and Faith be Increased "It is So, In Jesus Name". Now walk with me as I share my story. As I share "My Struggles, My Pain, My Victory". And, in the words of one of my favorite poets, Langston Hughes, "Well, I'll tell you, "Life for me Ain't Been no Crystal Stair.

Fire Road by Kim Phuc Phan Thi Pdf

Get out! Run! We must leave this place! They are going to destroy this whole place! Go, children, run first! Go now! These were the final shouts nine year-old Kim Phuc heard before her world dissolved into flames—before napalm bombs fell from the sky, burning away her clothing and searing deep into her skin. It’s a moment forever captured, an iconic image that has come to define the horror and violence of the Vietnam War. Kim was left for dead in a morgue; no one expected her to survive the attack. Napalm meant fire, and fire meant death. Against all odds, Kim lived—but her journey toward healing was only beginning. When the napalm bombs dropped, everything Kim knew and relied on exploded along with them: her home, her country’s freedom, her childhood innocence and happiness. The coming years would be marked by excruciating treatments for her burns and unrelenting physical pain throughout her body, which were constant reminders of that terrible day. Kim survived the pain of her body ablaze, but how could she possibly survive the pain of her devastated soul? Fire Road is the true story of how she found the answer in a God who suffered Himself; a Savior who truly understood and cared about the depths of her pain. Fire Road is a story of horror and hope, a harrowing tale of a life changed in an instant—and the power and resilience that can only be found in the power of God’s mercy and love.

Experiencing Other Minds in the Courtroom by Neal Feigenson Pdf

Increasingly in America s courtrooms lawyers, litigants, and expert witnesses attempt to recreate what it s like to be inside the litigant s mind. But is it really possible to claim this perception as evidence? Is seeing really believing? Can anyone really know what it s like to have another person s perceptual experiences, when only that person has direct access to them? And why should courts ever admit visual or auditory evidence that purports to convey what another person s consciousness is like? How might these simulations affect the ways that judges and jurors do justice? Experiencing Other Minds thoughtful explores this evidentiary and cognitive terrain. Whether a simulation actually provides reliable knowledge about the other person s inner experience, depends on the strength of our grounds for believing in it. And that depends largely on how the simulation was made. Primarily a descriptive and analytic work, Experiencing Other Minds conducts a legal anthropological inquiry into a novel and distinctive evidentiary practice, situating each example of digitally simulated subjective perception in its case context and drawing on cognitive psychology, media studies, science and technology studies, and other disciplines to understand how each simulation produces specific epistemological and rhetorical effects. By paying closer attention to the different kinds of simulation and the different knowledge claims they offer, we can develop best practices for responsibly incorporating such evidence in the courtroom, and thereby improve the quality of justice as well. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Decides? by Sheldon Ekland-Olson Pdf

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Decides? looks at several of the most contentious issues in many societies. The book asks, whose rights are protected? How do these rights and protections change over time, and who makes those decisions? This book explores the fundamentally sociological processes which underlie the quest for morality and justice in human societies. The author sheds light on the social movements and social processes at the root of these seemingly personal moral questions. The third edition contains a new chapter on torture entitled, "Taking Life and Inflicting Suffering."
