The 36 Strategies of the Martial Arts is a classical collection of Chinese maxims on understanding, engaging, and defeating your enemy. The origin of the collection is unknown; however, the text is a synthesis of various military maxims, political expressions, and even folk sayings, some of which are from sources that date back 1,500 years. Professor Hiroshi Moriya, a Tokyo-based authority on Chinese culture and philosophy, supplies clear and succinct explanations of each maxim and illustrates them with examples not only from Chinese literature and history but also from events in Europe and modern business affairs. India’s Economic Development Strategies 1951–2000 A.D. by J.N. Mongia Pdf

It has been often said, even by dispassionate observers, that our economic policies built on ideological considerations and economic assumptions are far removed from the realities of our situation. For more than three decades, we have been striving to design an economic policy and a planning procedure that are distinctly Indian, but the effort has often resulted in only mixing and merging borro wed ideas and experiences. However, whatever may have been the ideological elements influencing the thinking on economic policies in the formative period of the pre-independence days, the situation has changed considerably in the actual formation of economic policies since Independence, and the effort has been not to be too closely identified with any ideology, but to work out a policy that will draw upon all these ideological positions. To what extent we have succeeded, required a detailed examination. Accordingly, I brought out, a few years ago, a treatise on 'India's Economic Policies' which continues to be extremely popular, with the inteIlec tual elite, the world over. In this, the learned contributors, dwelt at length on the different aspects of India's Economic Policies from 1947-77, and brought out the strength and weaknesses of the Indian economic scene. The present work on 'India's Economic Development Strategies' is born out of the conviction that what India needs now is a set of strategies, which are a consistent set of policies, and that there is an urgent need for the same in Indian Planning.

A Practice that Works by Steven M. Harris, Ph.D,David C. Ivey, Ph.D,Roy A. Bean, Ph.D. Pdf

In the advent of managed care and the continuing decline in reimbursement felt across the various disciplines of mental health have had profound impacts upon the quality and quantity of care in the field. As it has become increasingly difficult for a practitioner in private practice to provide a satisfactory level of care while earning a living in the process, many clinicians have become more innovative in the services they offer their clients. This book pulls together a group of mental health professionals who have branched out into new markets and services. A Practice that Works represents an anthology of new knowledge in the field, as chapter contributors describe in revealing detail their own innovative techniques. After first describing the idea behind a strategy such as Wilderness Therapy Programs, the editors discuss the logistics of billing issues pertinent to the strategy and provide practical steps to its implementation, follow-through and development. Finally each chapter includes a 'testimonial' from the editors before considering issues such as any other implications of the strategy, how the strategy can fit into one's larger therapeutic model, and how this new way of thinking has impacted the author's life and practice. This timely book should appeal to professionals in all areas of the mental health fields, and is written in a general style that will not turn any of them away from the innovative lessons to be gleaned from such a unique compilation.
