Allergy-Friendly Food for Families by Editors of Kiwi Magazine Pdf

Allergy-Friendly Food for Families is the most trustworthy, comprehensive, practical, and kid-friendly collection of recipes that exists for the important and growing audience of allergy-aware families. Unlike other allergy cookbooks, this book covers not one or two allergens, but the five most common allergens in kids: wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts, and soy. Each of the 120 recipes is free of at least three of these allergens; most are free of all five. When parents are desperate for ideas for what to make for dinner (or lunch, or snack time), they want recipes from someone they trust, for food that tastes good, that doesn't require a lot of fancy ingredients, and that the whole family can eat. Allergy-Friendly Food for Families is the ultimate resource. From the three crucial mealtimes (breakfast, lunch, dinner) to the "fun" foods families can't live without (desserts, snacks, parties), parents are completely covered. Perhaps most importantly, all of these recipes are simple for parents to make. Recipes such as Carrot Cake Breakfast Cookies, Pear Yogurt Dunkers, Good-for-you Nachos, Polenta Mini Pizzas, Giant Cookie Cake, Veggie Bite Soup, and Cool Zucchini Noodles will make kids forget they have allergies. Parents will love the additional informational sections on spotting food allergies, stocking an allergy-free pantry, deciphering labels, and other frequently asked questions. Food should be delicious; family time should be fun. This book reflects those values.

The Ultimate Allergy-Free Cookbook by Judi Zucker,Shari Zucker Pdf

For too many people, the term "allergy free cooking" conjures images of bland and boring meals--dishes that seem to be "missing something." But the fact is that meals can be made flavorful, appealing, satisfying, and healthful, and still eliminate common allergenic foods. Now, best-selling authors Judi and Shari Zucker have created a cookbook that will guide you in doing just that. The Ultimate Allergy-Free Cookbook is an exciting collection of over 150 delectable dishes that contain absolutely no eggs, cow's milk, soy, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, or shellfish, the eight foods most likely to cause allergic reactions. The book first looks at the overall problem of allergies--what they are, how they can be identified, and what problems they can cause. It offers valuable information on the dangers of cross-contamination of allergens in packaged foods, and helps you understand food labels. You'll even learn how to stock a safe allergen-free kitchen. What follows are six chapters of taste-tempting recipes, including starters and appetizers, soups, salads and dressings, main dishes, desserts and snacks, and drinkable delights. Each recipe is designed to be clear and easy to use, and many include options that help you change up dishes to fit your family's preferences. Special emphasis has been placed on using wholesome and fresh products that are rich in nutrients and fiber, and low in calories. Throughout, clever time-saving tips help you fit healthy cooking into your life, no matter how hectic it may be.

What Else is to Eat? by Linda Marienhoff Coss Pdf

Coss (How To Manage Your Child's Life-Threatening Food Allergies), a mother of children with food allergies, has written her second book on the topic, to address the issues of how to cook without dairy, eggs, or nuts. However, a large proportion of the approximately 120 recipes in this slim volume are for dishes that would not normally contain these basic ingredients anyway (i.e., Chicken Marsala, Roasted Asparagus, etc.). While these items do indeed meet the criteria, they can also be found in a great many other sources. The book does include some introductory information on dealing with food allergies, such as the importance of avoiding cross-contamination in the kitchen, reading package ingredients lists very carefully, and a short list of resources. The most useful chapters are those on baking, which include recipes for cookies, cakes, and quick breads made without eggs, milk, or nuts. A lack of illustrations and no real explanations on how or what to substitute for these allergens make this work less informative and less useful than it would be otherwise. An optional purchase.
