Beyond the North Wind by Christopher McIntosh Pdf

"The North" is simultaneously a location, a direction, and a mystical concept. Although this concept has ancient roots in mythology, folklore, and fairy tales, it continues to resonate today within modern culture. McIntosh leads readers, chapter by chapter, through the magical and spiritual history of the North, as well as its modern manifestations, as documented through physical records, such as runestones and megaliths, but also through mythology and lore. This mythic conception of a unique, powerful, and mysterious Northern civilization was known to the Greeks as "Hyberborea"--the "Land Beyond the North Wind"--which they considered to be the true origin place of their god, Apollo, bringer of civilization. Through the Greeks, this concept of the mythic North would spread throughout Western civilization. In addition, McIntosh discusses Russian Hyperboreanism, which he describes as among "the most influential of the new religions and quasi-religious movements that have sprung up in Russia since the fall of Communism" and which is currently almost unknown in the West.

Beyond the Green Revolution by Kenneth Dahlberg Pdf

This book, which is the result of an intellectual odyssey, began as an attempt to explore and map the environmental and cross-cultural dimensions of the continuing spread of the green revolution-that package of high-yielding varieties of grain, fertilizers, irrigation, and pesticides that constitutes the core of modern industrial agriculture. In the process of traversing the terrain of several intellectual traditions and cutting through various disciplinary forests and thickets, a number of striking observations were made-all leading to two sober ing conclusions. First, most intellectual maps dealing with agriculture fail to recognize it as the basic interface between human societies and their environment. Because of this, they are little better than the "flat earth" maps of earlier centuries in helping to understand global realities. Second, when agriculture is analyzed from a global perspec tive that takes evolution seriously, one sees that the ecological risks as well as the energy and social costs of modern industrial agriculture make it largely inappropriate for developing countries. Beyond that, one can see a great need within industrialized countries to develop less costly, less risky, and more sustainable agricultural alternatives. Early in the journey it became clear that conventional disciplinary approaches were inadequate to comprehend the scope and diversity of global agriculture and that a new multilevel approach was needed. It also became clear that any new approach would have to try to correct certain Western biases and blind spots.

Beyond the Rouge Clouds by Pavan John Zachariah Pdf

The sky is limitless and so are the clouds soaked in red wine that connote nothing less than the unceasing raw passion of oozing sexuality and perpetual sensual vigour that follows the symphony of breaths. If there is something magically romantic beyond red lips, blushed cheeks, erotic love bites and bubbling episodes of steamy scenes, that’s what this book desperately longs to explore and celebrate in the minds of ardent readers. True love and its magic beyond sexual pleasures is the sole promise the book keeps. A toast to all those ardent readers who wretchedly wish to rewrite the rulebook of love, life and laughter in their own terms, this book of five tales is nothing less than a backlash against the hypocrisies and taboos of our traditional pseudo-moralistic morass. Served on a romantic platter with a tangy flavour and an aroma of explicit content, all the five tales revolving around a completely different string of strong characters from various walks of love life unfolding myriad of romantic hues and tunes lay rapturous somewhere beyond the rouge clouds, in the coppices of crimson, by the potpourri of Vermillion. These tales are sure to take all of you on a scenic tour of magical romanticism, where you get to soak up the fascinating philosophies of vivid characters and experience exotic lands, appreciating the benevolence of nature’s beauty.
