The behaviour of professionals towards children in day-care centres by Laura Knieriem Pdf

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Pedagogy - The Teacher, Educational Leadership, grade: 1,0, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: This book deals with the behavior of pedagogical professionals in day-care centers towards the children they look after there. Against the background of equal opportunities, the study looks in particular at evaluating aspects in connection with the social background of the children, since the social status in Germany still has a considerable influence on educational success. So far, there has been little research into how equal opportunities are implemented in day-care centers and kindergartens. This book aims to provide information about this. It is examined whether all children in a group within the day care center have the same access to possibilities and chances, or whether this is prevented by the judgmental behavior of the educational staff. This study is based on the assumption that discriminatory and disadvantageous behavior can also be transferred to educators in kindergartens and day care centers. There is an assumption that questioning one's own objectivity in attitude and behavior is often considered difficult. Tomorrow's Criminals by N. Wim Slot,Machteld Hoeve Pdf

It has been acknowledged for some years that the early onset of delinquency can predict a long and serious criminal career. Most resources are targeted at the teenage years but this book argues convincingly that more research and interventions should be aimed at child delinquents aged 12 and under. Tomorrow's Criminals addresses key problems in criminological research and makes studies from the Netherlands more accessible to a wider audience. It provides information and analyses on risk factors and reviews screening tools and risk-focused prevention methods. The contributions increase visibility and accessibility of European policy and practice in the explanation and prevention of child delinquency.

Social Action with Children and Families by Crescy Cannan,Chris Warren Pdf

Meeting the needs of children at the same time as promoting family life is more than a question of resources: it needs a culture change in social services: a rediscovery and a modernization of the social action and community development traditions in social work. In Social Action with Children and Families the authors argue that ways must be found to work together to promote environments in which children can flourish, and to develop forms of public life which are friendly to children and their parents. Recent changes in child care systems have put more pressures on those working in it. Social workers have become more open to public scrutiny and are expected to respond to problems rooted in social and economic aspects of their clients' or services users' lives. Legislation stresses working in partnership with parents, other professionals, and community groups. The central aim of Social Action with Children and Families is to help those working in this field to find a new, more positive sense of direction and purpose. It will be invaluable reading to those studying social work, social policy and public administration as well as to all professionals working in these areas.

Touch is both an increasingly visible topic today and a core skill in many professions, especially in health, education and social work. This book combines helpful theoretical discussions and practical information, offering a balanced and culturally-informed introduction to an issue that both students and professionals often find difficult to navigate. Chapters discuss the various functions of touch and its uses, giving readers a deeper understanding of the potential of tactile work practices. The authors offer clear legal and ethical guidance to empower learners. They discuss key issues such as harmful touch and the increasing digitisation of patient work. Activities, case studies and further readings promote learning and help readers reflect on their own relationship to touch. This book will be an invaluable resource for students in undergraduate and graduate courses in healthcare, nursing, education and social work, and to practitioners looking for guidance on this topic.

Young Children, Parents and Professionals by Margaret Henry Pdf

As early year education and very early child care increase, parents and professionals face many difficult questions. What are the effects of early education on children? Are parents fulfilling their roles? What should teachers' roles be? Seldom asked are more basic questions: What are the fundamental needs of young children? Or parents? Or professionals? How can these differing sets of needs be met? Margaret Henry proposes three dimensions of caregiving behaviour through which parents and professionals not only help young children to develop, but can also help one another's development. Evidence of positive change comes both from her own research in family day care and from the work of her students, practicing teachers and child care personnel. Their examples involve often hard-to-reach parents - those who are tired, employed, alienated, bossy and culturally and ethnically diverse. There are practical suggestions here for professionals and parents interested in enhancing their relationships with one another and the outcomes for young children.

Multicultural Child Care by Paul Vedder,Ellen Bouwer,Trees Pels Pdf

"What is the state of multicultural education in child care centres in Western European countries? What should multicultural education in these centres look like? These are the two key questions addressed in this book. In this study the authors have analysed the state of multicultural education in child care centres in the Netherlands, England, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain. The main situation considered here is the Netherlands where the recent and rapid growth of the number of child care centres, together with the growing numbers of immigrant children visiting these centres, have given a strong impetus to concerns about the quality of centre education from a multicultural perspective." "For centre staff, sensitive responses towards children and parents, as well as parental involvement, have become essential for managing cultural diversity in a way beneficial for both migrant and indigenous families. It is argued that defining and improving the quality of centre education from a multicultural perspective require discussions between staff and parents about educational goals and the means to achieve them. The book gives recommendations for improving the relationship between staff and parents by way of consensus building about these aims."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
