The Bomb That Blew Up God: And Other Serious Poems by Freddy Niagara Fonseca Pdf

THE BOMB THAT BLEW UP GOD (And Other Serious Poems) is a collection of poetry of 113 poems on 182 pages, uniting seven major themes in seven chapters. Together they read like a dynamic, yet intimate travelogue through our soul and the life we are living on Planet Earth. Chapter 1: SHARDS OF LIGHT begins in an uncertain universe of random smatterings of light on the verge of spiritual darkness. The poems in this chapter are mostly introspective, set in colorful locales on the globe and vast realms of the soul. Amidst all of this, we also find lighter content related to a growing sense of light. Chapter 2: DANCES, MUSIC, MAGIC. This chapter is marked by energy and melody. It intends to invoke sheer joy, motion, and exotic ambiance. At the same time, each poem evokes vivid pictures, recurring memories and humor riding on exciting, novel rhythms. Chapter 3: THE BOMB THAT BLEW UP GOD contains the title poem, a satyric fable demonstrating God's eternal resilience and mercy, one of the pillars of this book. The tone of the first part of the chapter is one of facing challenges in the midst of considerable adversity. The second half is more relaxed. Some poems are emotionally charged, asking poignant questions. Others suggest plausible answers in veiled ways. Chapter 4: VIGNETTES. Here we're being entertained by brief comedies, mini-dramas, dramedies and alluring observations told in as few words as possible. In a way this collection represents a gravitational centerpoint. However, this doesn't mean that every poem is for entertainment alone. Challenges abound. Chapter 5: DO WE REALLY DIE. Death, one of the major realities of life is met in this chapter from several unusual angles. Obviously there is drama at times, but also resignation. There's even a humorous poem among the bunch. Other poems seem matter-of-fact, serving as sobering anchors in a final harbor. Chapter 6: STRANGE RENEWAL opens doors to some of the most diverse, reckless and theatrical poems in the book. On the one hand, we are seeing some mundane, everyday challenges we all share being brought to unexpected conclusions. But there's also room for thoughtful soliloquies heralding spiritual transformation. Chapter 7: A NEW DAWN, the last chapter showcases poetry exclusively set in the natural world and how we respond to it. Here we take in Nature at its most beautiful, epic, and uplifting. We witness the grand cycles of the Universe turning. In a goodly number of poems we experience a measure of contentment, understanding, and appreciation of our existence.

The Bomb That Blew Up God by Freddy Fonseca Pdf

THE BOMB THAT BLEW UP GOD And Other Serious Poems is a tender poetry collection full of adventure and wit. Freddy Fonseca weaves seven major themes of life into a vast, spiritual journey spanning the globe and universe. There's a wild side to his poetry that's both dead serious and totally charming. The title poem, a modern fable, depicts the age-old struggle between good and evil, with a surprise ending. A ray of hope starts enlivening a universe on the verge of spiritual darkness. Dances, music and magic explode with energy, joy and tuneful poetry in exotic settings. Poems steeped in conflict have us dealing with existential fears. How will we overcome these? We're getting some relief from previous challenges. Brief, daring sketches, mini dramas, humor, and more. Death shows its terrifying face from multiple sides. We are trying to cope. Sometimes successfully. New doors open to theatrical poems full of life, and profound monologues heralding spiritual transformation. Nature shines at its most beautiful and uplifting. We gain a measure of appreciation and gratitude in our much too hectic lives. Fonseca evokes lively, tropical rhythms from South America. His poems range from three line haiku verses to three page epic poetry in the blink of an eye. Using free verse and rhyme, he pours his heart out into accessible, life-affirming poetry.

Hiroshima by John Hersey Pdf

Hiroshima is the story of six people—a clerk, a widowed seamstress, a physician, a Methodist minister, a young surgeon, and a German Catholic priest—who lived through the greatest single manmade disaster in history. In vivid and indelible prose, Pulitzer Prize–winner John Hersey traces the stories of these half-dozen individuals from 8:15 a.m. on August 6, 1945, when Hiroshima was destroyed by the first atomic bomb ever dropped on a city, through the hours and days that followed. Almost four decades after the original publication of this celebrated book, Hersey went back to Hiroshima in search of the people whose stories he had told, and his account of what he discovered is now the eloquent and moving final chapter of Hiroshima.

By the Bomb's Early Light by Paul Boyer Pdf

Originally published in 1985, By the Bomb's Early Light is the first book to explore the cultural 'fallout' in America during the early years of the atomic age. Paul Boyer argues that the major aspects of the long-running debates about nuclear armament and disarmament developed and took shape soon after the bombing of Hiroshima. The book is based on a wide range of sources, including cartoons, opinion polls, radio programs, movies, literature, song lyrics, slang, and interviews with leading opinion-makers of the time. Through these materials, Boyer shows the surprising and profoundly disturbing ways in which the bomb quickly and totally penetrated the fabric of American life, from the chillingly prophetic forecasts of observers like Lewis Mumford to the Hollywood starlet who launched her career as the 'anatomic bomb.' In a new preface, Boyer discusses recent changes in nuclear politics and attitudes toward the nuclear age.

Shane O Doherty joined the IRA at 15 years of age and was later arrested. From his prison cell, O Doherty courageously wrote letters of apology to his victims. This is a graphic account of his life in the IRA and explains why ordinary people might turn to terrorism. "

God's Hand on America by Michael Medved Pdf

In The American Miracle- Divine Providence in the Rise of the Republic, Michael Medved uncovered a pattern of extraordinary and improbable turns in the young nation's ascent to power. Now, in the anticipated second volume, the nation's epic tale enters the modern era. As the civil war comes to an end and reconstruction begins, the Union is narrowly saved from total demise. But contempt still runs hot through the battered nation, and the future of the United States is still at stake. In This Favored Land, Medved reveals the instruments of fate that took the bedraggled country from its lowest point to her dominant role on the world stage today. Following the paths of American heroes and the little known figures who played indispensable roles in the unfolding of the nation's freakishly fortunate destiny, This Favored Land proves that the founding fathers were right- God has always been--and continues to be--at work in shaping the fate of the nation.
