Ben is a boy who has so often tried to convince people he has seen a Bigfoot that when a real Yeti arrives and borrows his bicycle, no one comes to see if he is telling the truth, in a classic tale with a hugely hilarious twist that carries a timeless message for children about the importance of establishing trust and not "crying wolf."
For years, scientists and researchers have studied, speculated about, and searched for an enigmatic creature that is legendary in the annals of American folklore. Now, learn the truth about... BIGFOOT! In this fascinating and comprehensive look at the fact, fiction, and fable of the North American "Sasquatch," award-winning author Loren Coleman takes readers on a journey into America's biggest mystery -- could an unrecognized "ape" be living in our midst? Drawing on over forty years of investigations, interviews, and fieldwork on these incredible beasts, Coleman explores the modern debates about these powerful, ape-like creatures, why they have remained a mystery for so long, and what we can learn about ourselves from these animals, our nearest cousins! From reports of Bigfoot's existence found in ancient Native American traditions, to the controversial Patterson-Gimlin film of a Bigfoot in the wild, to today's Internet sites that record the sightings almost as soon as they occur, Coleman uncovers the past, explains the present, and considers the future of one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in the natural world.
Do you believe in Bigfoot? Is he roaming around in a forest near you? Max, Carl and Phil seem to think so. They are engaged in a quest to not only find him, but to capture him. If they can catch him, then maybe they can sell Bigfoot to the highest bidder. At least that is what they planned to do. But not everything goes as planned they say and this could be one of those instances. But seeing that this is a ridiculous idea from the start, it is hard to see how it could go right. Money is the driving factor here and that tends to make people do crazy things. So anything is possible. Join them as author James Kieffer takes you on their zany little adventure from concept to execution and see if you can be convinced of whether or not the prize is worth the peril. In the end, can they really do it?
What is Sasquatch? Thousands of people believe in it. Hundreds say they have seen it. But the mystery of Sasquatch has not been solved . . . Sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot, is a cryptid—a creature of cryptozoology. Cryptozoology is the study of creatures not recognized by traditional science, and it is the quest to understand things that cannot be proven via ordinary channels. Kelly Milner Halls interviews cryptozoologists, linguistics experts, anthropologists, biologists, and regular people like us who have seen, heard, or maybe stumbled across evidence leading them to believe that Sasquatch is real. Serious Sasquatch seekers are as skeptical as unbelievers. They are not out to collect great stories. They are out to put together facts. The difference is, they are willing to keep an open mind. Do you believe in Sasquatch?
Terri Quinn lives a double existence. Half of it is as a bestselling author, the other is as a collie, which makes Ugly Creek the perfect place to be. The unique town and its odd residents fuel her muse, and she feels accepted there as both human and shapeshifter. Hunter Deveraux has spent most of his life trying to prove his worth to his father. He's in Ugly Creek to write a book aiming to debunk tales of the weird and unexplained that are as much a part of the town as the beautiful scenery. Jeopardizing this plan is falling for the one woman who can prove him wrong. Terri has no idea how to handle loving a man who must choose between his lifelong view of reality and the woman he cares about. In the clash, when fantasy proves to be reality, will love be enough?
Does a hulking, hairy, 800-pound, nine-foot-tall, elusive primate roam the woods and forests throughout North America—and the world? What should we make of the grainy videos and photos and the thousands of eyewitness reports? Audio-recordings exist purporting to be the creatures’ eerie chatter and bone-chilling screaming. Whether called Sasquatch, Yeti, Bigfoot, or something else, bipedal primates appear in folklore, legends, and eyewitness accounts in every state of the union and many places around the world. The fascination with the man-beast is stronger than ever in today’s pop culture. Exploring the history, movies, and literature, the conspiracy theorizing, and the world of the supernatural, The Encyclopedia of Sasquatch, Yeti and Cryptid Primates is a comprehensive resource to the man-beast. With nearly 200 entries and 120 photographs, drawings, and illustrations, it is the definitive guide to understanding, hunting, and avoiding the brute, as well as discovering the facts behind the sightings and horrifying tales. It covers 400 years of folklore, mythology, history, and pop culture, including Native American lore, the “wild men” reports in the pages of 19th century-era American newspapers, Florida's Myakka Skunk Ape, Australia's Yowie, China's Yeren, Himalayas’ Yeti, Russian expeditions, Harry and the Hendersons, Exists and the countless movies titled Bigfoot, as well as specials on the television shows Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel, scientific reports and findings, and much, much more. Various documentaries and reality television shows have all superficially tackled the subject, but Nick Redfern presents a truly encyclopedic look at cryptid primates. It is a richly researched reference, overflowing with fascinating information to make readers think—and reconsider their next camping trip.
After a middle school field trip to Earth, Bigfoot youngster Errl is wandering in the forest, lost. While waiting for his friends to return, he falls in love with a golden-haired beauty. In The Boy Who Cried Bear, New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong keeps readers on the edge of their seats while detective Casey Duncan tries to locate the threat before it’s too late. . . Haven’s Rock is a well-hidden town surrounded by forest. And it’s supposed to be, being that it’s a refuge for those who need to disappear. Detective Casey Duncan and her husband, Sheriff Eric Dalton already feel at home in their new town, which reminds them of where they first met in Rockton. And while they know how to navigate the woods and its various dangers, other residents don’t. Which is why people aren't allowed to wander off alone. When Max, the town’s youngest resident—taught to track animals by Eric—fears a bear is stalking a hiking party, alarms are raised. Even stranger, the ten-year-old swears the bear had human eyes. Casey and Eric know the dangers a bear can present, so they’re taking it seriously. But odd occurrences are happening all around them, and when a dead body turns up, they’re not sure what they’re up against.
In this book, I will present a memoir of the continuation of a Minnesota Bigfoot researcher's 30-year journey since the publication of my last books, as well as my thoughts and observations on other aspects of the whole Bigfoot field. There is a chapter on the Minnesota Iceman case, which actually has only a tenuous connection to the state but which I felt it my responsibility to investigate, and also one on the famous California Patterson-Gimlin film which I am fascinated with and have delved into because of my deep interest in Bigfoot photos and films even though I am an outsider. I hope you, the reader, will both enjoy this account and be able to learn something.
