The Chiropractor: The Philosophy and History of Chiropractic Therapy, Care and Diagnostics by Its Founder by D. D. Palmer Pdf

Daniel David Palmer, the father of chiropractic medicine, sets out the principles of manually correcting disorders of the bones as a panacea for various ills of the human biology. When he founded his practice of chiropractic medicine in the 1890s, Palmer claimed to have received inspiration from a spiritual or divine force. Although Palmer received criticism for frequently voicing this origin, he remained steadfast in his account; for the author, there could be no successful science without religion, and vice versa. The adjustment of the osseous (bone) tissue considered by Palmer to hold spiritual, religious and scientific importance as a remedy. Chiropractic procedures surround manipulation of the musculo-skeletal system, with particular emphasis given to the spine. Such adjustments of the bones are performed with the intent of improving posture, reducing inflammation of tissue, and promoting proper function of the nervous system.

Chiropractic Text Book by R. W. Stephenson Pdf

This book is written for use in the class room. It may, however, be studied just as easily by the field practitioner, and is not too technical in most of its parts to be readily grasped by the layman. It has grown, rather than having been written; it is the expansion of the notes which were tested in the class room for six years, and the writer believes that, with the constant arrangement and betterment to suit the requirements of the students of Chiropractic, this has created a real textbook, rendering easily understood a subject that students have always said was difficult.

Chiropractic by Edzard Ernst Pdf

Of all forms of alternative medicine, chiropractic is the one that is most generally accepted. In the UK, for instance, chiropractors are regulated by statute and even have their own ‘Royal College of Chiropractic’. In the US, chiropractic’s country of origin, most chiropractors carry the title ‘doctor’ and many consumers believe they are medically trained. Despite this high level of acceptance, chiropractic is wide open to criticism. The claims and assumptions made by chiropractors are far from evidence based. Chiropractic manipulations are of doubtful effectiveness and have regularly been associated with severe adverse effects, including multiple fatalities. The advice issued by chiropractors to patients and consumers is often less than responsible. The behaviour of chiropractors and their organisations is frequently less than professional. This book presents and discusses recent evidence in and around chiropractic in a factual and unemotional manner. It amounts to an evidence-based critique of this profession and discloses the often dangerously misleading information published for the lay audience. It thereby contributes to advancing public health and critical thinking.

The Unknown Story of B.J. Palmer and Chiropractic by Joaquin Valdivia Tor Pdf

The study of chiropractic history in Chiropractic Colleges all over the world has been neglected. Currently, most chiropractic students and practitioners only know a few anecdotal fragments from the life of the Palmers and many consider those ridiculous and feel ashamed of their origins. The objective of this book, unlike others, is to provide, besides a biographical account of the life of B.J. Palmer, a vision of his achievements - mainly explained in his own words directly taken from his "Green Books."The book also includes the article "The Last Ten Years of D.D. Palmer, 'As I See It'."

Chiropractic in America by J. Stuart Moore Pdf

In the century since founder D.D. Palmer made his "First Adjustment" in 1895, chiropractic has grown to become the second largest healing group in America (after medical doctors) and the most widespread drugless therapy in the world. Now, in Chiropractic in America, J. Stuart Moore has written the first book to place this unorthodox medical movement in its proper historical setting, examining its relation to other sects, to religious beliefs, and to orthodox medicine. Moore offers new interpretations of chiropractic's central schisms - disagreements between so-called "straights" and "mixers", as well as conflicts between D.D. Palmer and his son B.J. - and of the effects of nineteenth-century professionalization on the fledgling movement. Drawing on previously unpublished archival material, he also examines colorful claims by inventors of such devices as the "Polysine Generator" and the "Semiautomatic White Light Instrument".

The most comprehensive, extensively illustrated book focusing on chiropractic principles, diagnosis, and treatment. A Doody’s Core Title for 2019! 5 STAR DOODY'S REVIEW! "This is the third edition of one of the chiropractic profession's most important and influential books. It is a compendium of hard scientific knowledge about all aspects of chiropractic, from the social and historical to the clinical and research oriented. It is a significant expansion from the second edition, which was published in 1992, quite some time ago. It contains five major sections: Introduction to Principles of Chiropractic, Introduction to Chiropractic Theory, Introduction to the Clinical Examination, Introduction to Specific Treatment Methods, and Introduction to Management of Specific Disorders....The book exceeds all expectations the author had for it....I consider this the most essential of all chiropractic texts, one that all chiropractors should obtain."--Doody's Review Service Developed as the core textbook for the chiropractic student and as a professional reference, this text presents theory, philosophy, and practice principles of chiropractic. Covers both traditional and newer chiropractic techniques as well as the clinical exam and management of specific disorders.
