The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1963, volume 3, contains the messages and fellowship given by Brother Witness Lee from July 13 through September 1, 1963, with the exception of messages he gave in a series on the Gospel of John, which are published in Life-study of John (not included in The Collected Works). The eight sections that constitute this volume are composed largely of messages that were given during the summer training held in Los Angeles and Altadena, California, from July 13 through August 22. The training covered four main areas: life, truth, the church, and service. The messages on life and on truth were given in the evening of each Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, and the messages on the church and on service were given in the evening of each Thursday. The messages given in the evening focused on these four main areas, and the messages given in the morning were devoted to fellowship concerning personal problems, spiritual problems, the church, the local churches, the Lord's Day gathering, practical service, prayer, and Christian practices. The contents of this volume are as follows: 1. Eighteen messages concerning life given on July 13 through August 20 as part of the summer training. These messages have been published under the title Basic Principles of the Experience of Life. One message, chapter 9, is included also in The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1965, volume 3, as chapter 8 of Our Human Spirit. 2. The five messages on truth given on July 13 through 22 as part of the summer training. Four of these messages have been published previously under the title The Building of God. However, in researching for The Collected Works, a fifth message was discovered. 3. Six messages on service given on July 18 through August 22 as part of the summer training. These messages have been published under the title Basic Principles for the Service in theChurch Life. Chapters 1 through 3 are included also in The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1969, volume 1, as chapters 6 through 8 of To Serve in the Human Spirit. 4. Six messages on the church given on July 18 through August 22 as part of the summer training. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1975-1976, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from August 26 through December 30, 1975. Brother Lee remained in Taipei, Taiwan, until September 11, 1975, after which he traveled to Seoul, Korea, and Tokyo, Japan. There is no record of his speaking in the latter two cities. In mid-September he returned to Anaheim, California, and at the end of September he ministered in Berkeley, California. He then returned to Anaheim and ministered there until mid-November, whereupon he visited San Diego, California, and returned to Anaheim until the end of the third week in November. At the end of the month he gave a weekend conference in Dallas, Texas, and he returned to Anaheim in early December and remained there until the end of 1976. The contents of this volume are divided into twelve sections, as follows: 1. Seven messages given in Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 19 through 26, 1975. They were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled The Central Vision for Serving the Church. 2. Two messages given in Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 26 through 31, 1975. They were previously published in Chinese in a book entitled The Testimony of Jesus Christ--the Church in Revelation. 3. Five messages given in Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 27 through 30, 1975. They were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled Serving in the Flow of the Age. 4. One message given in Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan, on September 1, 1975. It is included in this volume under the title The Proper Exercise of the Young People in the Church. 5. Ten messages given in Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan, on September 1 through 5, 1975. They were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled The Revelation of the Mystery. 6. Two messages given in Berkeley, California, on September 27 and 28, 1975. The contents of these messages were taken from personal notes taken by one of the attendees. These messages are included in this volume under the title Miscellaneous Messages in Berkeley. 7. One message given in Anaheim, California, on October 10, 1975. This message was originally published in a separate booklet entitled The Revelation of the Triune God according to the Pure Word of the Bible and is included in this volume under the same title. It was later published together with What a Heresy--Two Divine Fathers, Two Life-giving Spirits, and Three Gods! (see The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1975-1976, vol. 3) in a two-chapter book entitled Contending for the Faith: the Truth concerning the Trinity. 8. Four messages given in Anaheim, California, on October 12 through 28, 1975. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Mingling of God and Man and the Proper Way for the Church to Grow, Function, and Be Built Up. 9. One message given in San Diego, California, on November 15, 1975. It is published in this volume under the title Needing a Proper Heart and Spirit for the Church. 10. Eight messages given in Dallas, Texas, on November 27 through 30, 1975. They were previously published in six chapters in volume 15, numbers 1 and 2 of The Stream magazine in a series entitled "The Lord's Recovery." 11. Four messages given in Anaheim, California, on December 18 and 19, 1975. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Basic Item of the Lord's Recovery Being Life, and the Issue of the Lord's Recovery Being the Body. 12. Three messages given in Anaheim, California, on December 30, 1975. They were previously published in a book entitled The Church--the Reprint of the Spirit.

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1986, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from March 14, 1986, through April 11, 1990. In the first week of March 1986 Brother Lee traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, where he remained until the beginning of June. From Taipei he returned to Anaheim, California, and was there for a few days before traveling to Irving, Texas, after the third week of June. The contents of this volume are divided into five sections, as follows: 1. Nineteen messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on March 14 through June 1, 1986. They were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled Crucial Words of Leading in the Lord's Recovery, Book 1: The Vision and Definite Steps for the Practice of the New Way and are included in this volume under the same title. 2. Three messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on March 14 through 21, 1986. These messages were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled The Vision of the Age. They are included in this volume as chapters 1 through 3 of the section entitled Crucial Words of Leading in the Lord's Recovery, Book 1: The Vision and Definite Steps for the Practice of the New Way. Therefore, they are not reprinted in this section. 3. Twelve messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on March 18 through June 3, 1986. They were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled The Economy of God and the Mystery of the Transmission of the Divine Trinity and are included in this volume under the same title. 4. A message given by phone from Taipei, Taiwan, to a gathering of saints in Stuttgart, Germany, on May 25, 1986. This message is included in this volume under the title God's Economy and the God-ordained Way. 5. Eight messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on June 1, 1986; May 10 through August 6, 1987; and April 11, 1990. They were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled A Blessed Human Life and are included in this volume under the same title.
