The Creators - 3 by J.M.Collin Pdf

In September 1979, during the early days of the Thatcher Government, unauthorised financial speculation places Pat O’Donnell’s company at risk. Jenny, who is now an accountant, works with Pete to save the company. That brings old feelings to the fore, despite Jenny’s generally happy marriage and motherhood of two. But an accident to the husband of Pete’s old friend Liz takes his life in a different direction. A year or so later, Liz and Pete are living together. Pete is now leading Creators Technology, and working part time for the Government as an industrial advisor, whilst Liz is working part time for the miners’ union. That involves them on opposite sides of the Government’s backdown to the miners in February 1981. A few days later, they, Jenny and Carol help a friend from Spain to ensure the military coup there fails. The friend arranges for Creators Technology to have the funds it needs to develop world beating software. Liz and Pete devise a plan to prevent the miners challenging the Government at the end of 1981, when their chances of victory would be greatest. Their plan appears to be working, but is disrupted by the coldest weather on record. Then they face together the greatest challenge, and the greatest sacrifice, against the background of a turning point in national history. Pete’s account ends in June 1982, against the background of national triumph in the Falklands War, and expected business triumph for Creators Technology. He discovers that he is not the only person facing tragedy, and does not go on alone.

The Creators of Inside Money by D. Gareth Thomas,David S. Bywaters Pdf

This second edition updates and extends the original foundations of the loanable funds model. It develops a new monetary model of inside money, which is created by the commercial (or retail) banks, drawing on the events of 2007/08 that led to the Great Recession and fragile economy of today. Coronavirus is likely to cause another downturn of economic activity, from the perspective of late 2020 as this is written. That will represent a long-period of subpar, anaemic growth, which has not been satisfactorily explained by the traditional theory in the form of neo-classical analysis. The reason may lie with the adoption of a body of theory based primarily on a barter system of exchange but sometimes with one commodity used as money to try to explain a dynamic, monetary economy of today. Money has evolved from a system of barter to become a medium of exchange based on fiat money and credit currency underpinned by legal tender, and therefore, a creature of law. If households and firms lose confidence in the banking system, they can withdraw their deposits in the form of cash as a medium of exchange, which must be accepted in exchange for goods and services as legal tender. This book highlights the importance of how money is created or destroyed endogenously and derives the loanable supply of funds in conjunction with the demand within a revised analysis of monetary theory, with a new emphasis on portfolio theory. It applies critical thinking and the realization of a more precise formulation of the loanable funds theory to final year and postgraduate students in particular, with various features systematically added such as the catastrophe framework and Minsky’s theory of changing states in an attempt to derive a fully dynamic model. There is a new framework using aggregate demand and supply analysis to explain inflation. This will be reinforced at each stage by the inclusion of revised and updated case studies, graphs and figures to give an international setting and application

The Creators by Daniel J. Boorstin Pdf

By piecing the lives of selected individuals into a grand mosaic, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Daniel J. Boorstin explores the development of artistic innovation over 3,000 years. A hugely ambitious chronicle of the arts that Boorstin delivers with the scope that made his Discoverers a national bestseller. Even as he tells the stories of such individual creators as Homer, Joyce, Giotto, Picasso, Handel, Wagner, and Virginia Woolf, Boorstin assembles them into a grand mosaic of aesthetic and intellectual invention. In the process he tells us not only how great art (and great architecture and philosophy) is created, but where it comes from and how it has shaped and mirrored societies from Vedic India to the twentieth-century United States.

Creators’ Income Situation in the Digital Age by World Intellectual Property Organization,Alexander Cuntz Pdf

The digital transformation imposes both opportunities and risks for creativity and for creative employment, with implications for trends in income levels and the distribution of income. First, we consider skill-biased technological change as a determinant of income and labor market outcomes in the arts. Arguably, the IT revolution has changed the demand for certain skills, with creative occupations being more in demand than general employment. Second, we consider declines in the costs of generating new works and artistic experimentation due to digital technologies, and their effect on the barriers to entry in labor markets. Third, we touch upon the rise of online contract labor in certain creative professions as a determinant of income. Here, online platforms can change creators’ access to work opportunities and it may alter the way income is distributed. We find that wage trends for creative workers in the digital age outperform general trends in the population: based on various data sources and various ways to identify creators, we see creators losing less or even gaining a better income position in relative terms. From a policy perspective, results do not lend support to the idea that creators’ income situation has systematically worsened with the rise of the internet and its intermediaries. Evidence on changing distributions of income is ambiguous as trends differ from one country to the next.

365 Years of Solitude, Sufferings and the Rise of the Creators: 2020-2384 by Benjamin Katz Pdf

This book tells the grand and horrendous story of the Homo sapiens’ inevitable demise and downfall and the rise of ever-evolving upgraded beings, stemming from them in the next 365 years. The main narrator of this Bible-like tale is the man who devised the vision/mission of the Creators and follows the historical process of them coming to power, first as human beings and thereafter as a downloaded, evolving cyborg. This saga tells how this dethroning of sapiens and the rise of the Creators—advanced intelligent beings—may happen with great probability and the kind of world these Creators will build up on the ruins of the sapiens’ civilization. Although it is fictional, it describes a real and factual development that we already watch with growing alarm: Homo sapiens destroy their life conditions on earth, and being shortsighted and unwise regarding global affairs, they don ́t seem to be able to stop. As everything in the universe is temporary, so are sapiens and their constructs too. This book presents the most viable future solution for evolving advanced intelligent life after sapiens.

Peterson, Jayson Quearry, Zachary J. A. Rondinelli, Suzanne Scott, David Stanley, Sarah Pawlak Stanley, Tracy Vozar, and Chris Yogerst Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’s Watchmen fundamentally altered the perception of American comic books and remains one of the medium’s greatest hits. Launched in 1986—“the year that changed comics” for most scholars in comics studies—Watchmen quickly assisted in cementing the legacy that comics were a serious form of literature no longer defined by the Comics Code era of funny animal and innocuous superhero books that appealed mainly to children. After Midnight: “Watchmen” after “Watchmen” looks specifically at the three adaptations of Moore and Gibbons’s Watchmen—Zack Snyder’s Watchmen film (2009), Geoff Johns’s comic book sequel Doomsday Clock (2017), and Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen series on HBO (2019). Divided into three parts, the anthology considers how the sequels, especially the limited series, have prompted a reevaluation of the original text and successfully harnessed the politics of the contemporary moment into a potent relevancy. The first part considers the various texts through conceptions of adaptation, remediation, and transmedia storytelling. Part two considers the HBO series through its thematic focus on the relationship between American history and African American trauma by analyzing how the show critiques the alt-right, represents intergenerational trauma, illustrates alternative possibilities for Black representation, and complicates our understanding of how the mechanics of the show’s production can impact its politics. Finally, the book’s last section considers the themes of nostalgia and trauma, both firmly rooted in the original Moore and Gibbons series, and how the sequel texts reflect and refract upon those often-intertwined phenomena.
