God Is Real and the Devil Is a Liar by Anna Ellison-Griffin Pdf

As I was writing this book, I began to see some sad moments in my story. One being when I talked to the bishop that Tuesday about what I was going through. He told me to come to church on Sunday. We are talking five days later. My heart breaks knowing that he was having a service later that night and again on Friday. I told him with tears pouring down my face that something evil had entered into my body and that I needed an exorcism to get it out. For all bishops, pastors, and ministers reading this book, when someone calls you for "help," please don't put them off because you have a program to follow. God sent them to you for a reason. I was going through spiritual warfare, and I knew I needed to be at a church, not a mental hospital. My situation could have turned out very badly. The devil could have caused me to hurt myself or someone else. Remember, I thought I was obeying God. I would have done whatever he told me to do. I believe now that God was teaching me to trust and depend only on him, because he is the author and finisher of our faith. If there is one thing you get out of reading my testimony, let it be that no matter what you are going through, God will be there to see you through. Have you surrendered your life to him? If not, read Romans 10:9: If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. Then repent of your sins and ask him to come into your life and make him your Lord and savior.

Take Back What the Devil Stole by Onaje X. O. Woodbine Pdf

Ms. Donna Haskins is an African American woman who wrestles with structural inequity in the streets of Boston by inhabiting an alternate dimension she refers to as the “spirit realm.” In this other place, she is prepared by the Holy Spirit to challenge the restrictions placed upon Black female bodies in the United States. Growing into her spiritual gifts of astral flight and time travel, Donna meets the spirits of enslaved Africans, conducts spiritual warfare against sexual predators, and tends to the souls of murdered Black children whose ghosts haunt the inner city. Take Back What the Devil Stole centers Donna’s encounters with the supernatural to offer a powerful narrative of how one woman seeks to reclaim her power from a lifetime of social violence. Both ethnographic and personal, Onaje X. O. Woodbine’s portrait of her spiritual life sheds new light on the complexities of Black women’s religious participation and the lived religion of the dispossessed. Woodbine explores Donna’s religious creativity and her sense of multireligious belonging as she blends together Catholic, Afro-Caribbean, and Black Baptist traditions. Through the gripping story of one local prophet, this book offers a deeply original account of the religious experiences of Black women in contemporary America: their bodies, their haunted landscapes, and their spiritual worlds.

Commentary on John by Cyril of Alexandria Pdf

Cyril of Alexandria (ca. 378-444), one of the most brilliant representatives of the Alexandrian theological tradition, is best known for championing the term Theotokos (God-bearer) in opposition to Nestorius of Constantinople. Cyril's great Commentary on John, offered here in the Ancient Christian Texts series in two volumes, predates the Nestorian controversy and focuses its theological firepower against Arianism. The commentary, addressed to catechists, displays Cyril's breathtaking mastery of the full content of the Bible and his painstaking attention to detail as he offers practical teaching for the faithful on the cosmic story of God's salvation. David R. Maxwell provides readers with the first completely fresh English translation of the text since the nineteenth century. It rests on Pusey's critical edition of the Greek text and displays Cyril's profound theological interpretation of Scripture and his appeal to the patristic tradition that preceded him. Today's readers will find the commentary an indispensable tool for understanding Cyril's approach to Scripture. Ancient Christian Texts are new English translations of full-length commentaries or sermon series from ancient Christian authors that allow you to study key writings of the early church fathers in a fresh way.

The Devil Wins by Dallas G. Denery II Pdf

A bold retelling of the history of lying in medieval and early modern Europe Is it ever acceptable to lie? This question plays a surprisingly important role in the story of Europe's transition from medieval to modern society. According to many historians, Europe became modern when Europeans began to lie—that is, when they began to argue that it is sometimes acceptable to lie. This popular account offers a clear trajectory of historical progression from a medieval world of faith, in which every lie is sinful, to a more worldly early modern society in which lying becomes a permissible strategy for self-defense and self-advancement. Unfortunately, this story is wrong. For medieval and early modern Christians, the problem of the lie was the problem of human existence itself. To ask "Is it ever acceptable to lie?" was to ask how we, as sinners, should live in a fallen world. As it turns out, the answer to that question depended on who did the asking. The Devil Wins uncovers the complicated history of lying from the early days of the Catholic Church to the Enlightenment, revealing the diversity of attitudes about lying by considering the question from the perspectives of five representative voices—the Devil, God, theologians, courtiers, and women. Examining works by Augustine, Bonaventure, Martin Luther, Madeleine de Scudéry, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and a host of others, Dallas G. Denery II shows how the lie, long thought to be the source of worldly corruption, eventually became the very basis of social cohesion and peace.

The Devil Is a Liar by Mistry Troutman Pdf

I don't know when it happened, I just know it did. At that moment breathing became almost impossible. As the room got smaller, all the weight from my shoulders shifted to my chest. I felt my neck and chest getting wetter as the tears flowed continuously and unchecked. The burning in my chest increased. I prayed for the heart attack to come and take me out instead. That way, I wouldn't have to explain. That way, my family wouldn't have to lie about it later and say that I had been diagnosed with cancer. That way, escape from shame and humiliation would be a certainty. But after a while the burning stopped and was replaced by sharp stabbing pains.....Order now to read more

Jesus the Truth Vs. Satan the Liar by Honolulu Cops For Christ Pdf

In the Gospels, Jesus called Satan the Father of Lies. From the beginning of Mankind until the present, Satan has been lying to mankind in order to destroy us and keep us from eternal life with God. Our first ancestors fell victim to a lie of Lucifer, and because of their fall, all humanity fell under the influence of the devil. Jesus came to earth to break Satan's power over us. Jesus referred to Himself as the Light of the World and as the Truth. He wants to deliver humanity out of the spiritual darkness and deception in which Satan has mankind trapped. A spiritual battle rages between Jesus and Satan for the souls of men. The weapons of Satan are his numerous lies. The weapon of Jesus is the truth of His Word. He said that the truths He taught were a solid and unshakable foundation in a world of shifting and sinking sand. In Jesus the Truth vs. Satan the Liar, this cop for Christ exposes many of the dark lies of Satan that are spread within America's higher education system. They are exposed by the light of biblical truth, giving students the knowledge they need to reject the lies and all who spread them. 84 84

The Gospel According to Satan by Jared C. Wilson Pdf

Not every lie sounds untrue. Some lies are repeated so often they seem to be common sense. That's why lies about God are so dangerous. The Gospel According to Satan examines eight lies the enemy wants us to believe and provides eight lines of counterattack against them. The lies include: God just wants you to be happy; you only live once you need to live your truth; and just let go and let God. Jared C. Wilson reveals why these lies appeal to us, shows how they harm us, and provides ways to counteract them. We can renounce Satan's counterfeit gospel, but first we must see it for what it is. "Enumerates the major ways the Devil uses his cunning and calculating ways of luring us off the narrow road of God's grace. We will all do well to read this book and confront the lies we are being sold."--Kyle Idleman, senior pastor of Southeast Christian Church and author of Not a Fan and Don’t Give Up "A unique, compelling, and even witty look at the devil's current greatest hits--lies we urgently need to unmask." --Sam Allberry, speaker for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries and author of 7 Myths About Singleness and Why Does God Care Who I Sleep With? "One of the most thought-provoking writers in the Christian world today... He doesn’t just describe the tantalizing falsehoods of our age, he exposes how they've slithered into our hearts."--Matt Smethurst, managing editor at The Gospel Coalition and author of Before You Open Your Bible
