The Hidden Dynamics of Path Dependence by G. Schreyögg,J. Sydow Pdf
The theory of path dependence continues to attract great interest in a range of disciplines. An increasing number of scholars have started to explicitly use this theory for studying organizational inertia and institutional rigidities. This volume presents a collection of papers from various international conferences that address these issues.

This book discusses the social, ideological, and political groups in U.S. that support or oppose Israel, examines how they influence policy decisions, and reviews U.S. public opinion toward Israel. It analyzes the politics of supplying arms and economic aid to Israel in historical perspective. .
Dynamics of Economic Spaces in the Global Knowledge-based Economy by Sam Ock Park Pdf
This book addresses how economic spaces dynamically change within the context of the global knowledge-based economy. Specifically, it centers the discussion on integrated views of understanding and conceptualizing dynamic changes of global economy under the global megatrends of globalization, knowledge-based economy, information society, service world, climate change, and population aging. Focusing on East Asia, especially on Korea, it deals with case studies regarding the processes and patterns of these global dynamics, looking at economic spaces of various spatial scales and types of economic actors. This book develops a theoretical model for understanding and analysing the dynamics of economic spaces that are being reshaped within the larger global economy. It also emphasizes the analysis of empirical studies at the level of firm, region, and state by considering an evolutionary perspective over time. In developing its theoretical framework, this book examines regional resilience, intangible assets, service innovation, path dependence, and other notions related to the evolution of economic spaces, and incorporates these elements into real-world case studies. The integrated theoretical framework examined here contributes a new perspective on spatial disparities in the global economy. An integral model of service innovation; the integration of path dependence and regional resilience; the interaction between firm and region for the accumulation of intangible assets; and the roles of governments and global firms: these are all essential to understanding the dynamics of economic spaces in East Asia. The theoretical model and case studies in this book suggest policy implications for developing countries, especially in the Asian and African regions, with regard to regional development and innovation policies.
Analysis and Control of Age-Dependent Population Dynamics by S. Anita Pdf
The material of the present book is an extension of a graduate course given by the author at the University "Al.I. Cuza" Iasi and is intended for stu dents and researchers interested in the applications of optimal control and in mathematical biology. Age is one of the most important parameters in the evolution of a bi ological population. Even if for a very long period age structure has been considered only in demography, nowadays it is fundamental in epidemiology and ecology too. This is the first book devoted to the control of continuous age structured populationdynamics. It focuses on the basic properties ofthe solutions and on the control of age structured population dynamics with or without diffusion. The main goal of this work is to familiarize the reader with the most important problems, approaches and results in the mathematical theory of age-dependent models. Special attention is given to optimal harvesting and to exact controllability problems, which are very important from the econom ical or ecological points of view. We use some new concepts and techniques in modern control theory such as Clarke's generalized gradient, Ekeland's variational principle, and Carleman estimates. The methods and techniques we use can be applied to other control problems.
Psychodynamics of Drug Dependence by Jack D. Blaine Pdf
The self-destruction of drug addicts is incomprehensible and the route to successful intervention unknown. This work aims to aid understanding of the psychodynamics of drug addiction, by illuminating the problem from different perspectives - developmental, ego, self and the interpersonal.
Nonlinear Dynamics and Spatial Complexity in Optical Systems by R.G Harrison,J.S Uppal Pdf
A collection of prestigious postgraduate lectures, Nonlinear Dynamics and Spatial Complexity in Optical Systems reviews developments in the theory and practice of nonlinear dynamics and structural complexity, and explores modern-day applications in nonlinear optics. The book addresses systems including both singlemode and multimode lasers, bistable and multistable devices, optical fibers, counter-propagating beam interactions, nonlinear mixing, and related optical phenomena.
This report considers the biological and behavioral mechanisms that may underlie the pathogenicity of tobacco smoke. Many Surgeon General's reports have considered research findings on mechanisms in assessing the biological plausibility of associations observed in epidemiologic studies. Mechanisms of disease are important because they may provide plausibility, which is one of the guideline criteria for assessing evidence on causation. This report specifically reviews the evidence on the potential mechanisms by which smoking causes diseases and considers whether a mechanism is likely to be operative in the production of human disease by tobacco smoke. This evidence is relevant to understanding how smoking causes disease, to identifying those who may be particularly susceptible, and to assessing the potential risks of tobacco products.
