Defending Freedom of Contract: Constitutional Solutions to Resolve the Political Divide by Patrick Bohan Pdf

The progressive movement that began in the late nineteenth century was a nonviolent coup d tat changing the United States of America from a republic that promoted equal rights for all to a democracy where the majority rules. As a result, moral and social justice was and is used by the federal government to protect the rights of some while mitigating the rights of others. Patrick Bohan, who has studied constitutional law in depth, examines the revolution in detail in this treatise, demonstrating how freedom of contract can be applied to protect the fundamental rights of each citizen equally. The author evaluates hundreds of laws, cases, and examples of justice gone wrong for issues such as slavery, abortion rights, elections, welfare rights, free speech, freedom of religion, civil rights, property rights, contract rights, gay rights, alien rights, and other important topics that polarize Americans.

Solutions for a Wounded Planet by Jim Kingham Pdf

Depressed about the environmental disaster currently rocking our world? Unsure about what to do when climate change is only growing worse? Fearful of what the future might look like with so many world powers refusing to acknowledge the issues at hand? Solutions for a Wounded Planet has the answers. With a comprehensive look at both problems and solutions, Kingham details the present condition of the air, water, and land in our world, describes how human activity has been designed to waste the environment, and then shares actions that can be taken at multiple levels (family, community, municipal, regional, provincial, national, and international) to move towards a more sustainable future. Ever wondered what the biggest threat is to the environment? The answer is more complex than you might imagine, and the solution is closer at hand than it might first appear.

Solutions for a Small Planet, Volume 2 by Pepper Lewis Pdf

We, collective humanity, are one of Earth's resources. We cycle and recycle ourselves through lifetimes upon Earth, learning, sharing and contributing to Earth in a variety of ways. Gaia truly benefits from our company, and her sentience enjoys the varied history we have shared with the planet. That being said, this is a time of great change for humanity and for Earth. We are on the cusp of a New Age, and time is running out on our present -- soon to be recent past -- age. Gaia cannot offer us complete solutions to our difficulties and dilemmas, but she can instill within us the knowingness to see through our predicaments to solve the puzzles of our time.

Getting to Green: Saving Nature: A Bipartisan Solution by Frederic C. Rich Pdf

“Regardless of your place on the political spectrum, there is much to admire in this book, which reminds us that the stewardship of nature is an obligation shared by all Americans.” —U.S. Senator Angus S. King Jr. The Green movement in America has lost its way. Pew polling reveals that the environment is one of the two things about which Republicans and Democrats disagree most. Congress has not passed a landmark piece of environmental legislation for a quarter-century. As atmospheric CO2 continues its relentless climb, even environmental insiders have pronounced “the death of environmentalism.” In Getting to Green, Frederic C. Rich argues that meaningful progress on urgent environmental issues can be made only on a bipartisan basis. Rich reminds us of American conservation’s conservative roots and of the bipartisan political consensus that had Republican congressmen voting for, and Richard Nixon signing, the most important environmental legislation of the 1970s. He argues that faithfulness to conservative principles requires the GOP to support environmental protection, while at the same time he criticizes the Green movement for having drifted too far to the left and too often appearing hostile to business and economic growth. With a clear-eyed understanding of past failures and a realistic view of the future, Getting to Green argues that progress on environmental issues is within reach. The key is encouraging Greens and conservatives to work together in the space where their values overlap—what the book calls “Center Green.” Center Green takes as its model the hugely successful national land trust movement, which has retained vigorous bipartisan support. Rich’s program is pragmatic and non-ideological. It is rooted in the way America is, not in a utopian vision of what it could become. It measures policy not by whether it is the optimum solution but by the two-part test of whether it would make a meaningful contribution to an environmental problem and whether it is achievable politically. Application of the Center Green approach moves us away from some of the harmful orthodoxies of mainstream environmentalism and results in practical and actionable positions on climate change, energy policy, and other crucial issues. This is how we get to Green.

Chemical Solution Deposition of Functional Oxide Thin Films by Theodor Schneller,Rainer Waser,Marija Kosec,David Payne Pdf

This is the first text to cover all aspects of solution processed functional oxide thin-films. Chemical Solution Deposition (CSD) comprises all solution based thin- film deposition techniques, which involve chemical reactions of precursors during the formation of the oxide films, i. e. sol-gel type routes, metallo-organic decomposition routes, hybrid routes, etc. While the development of sol-gel type processes for optical coatings on glass by silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide dates from the mid-20th century, the first CSD derived electronic oxide thin films, such as lead zirconate titanate, were prepared in the 1980’s. Since then CSD has emerged as a highly flexible and cost-effective technique for the fabrication of a very wide variety of functional oxide thin films. Application areas include, for example, integrated dielectric capacitors, ferroelectric random access memories, pyroelectric infrared detectors, piezoelectric micro-electromechanical systems, antireflective coatings, optical filters, conducting-, transparent conducting-, and superconducting layers, luminescent coatings, gas sensors, thin film solid-oxide fuel cells, and photoelectrocatalytic solar cells. In the appendix detailed “cooking recipes” for selected material systems are offered.
