The Egyptian Book of Gates is the second large Pharaonic Book of the Afterlife after The Egyptian Amduat. The revised English translation is based on the German edition, edited by Erik Hornung. The hieroglyphs and transcriptions are given on the basis of a collation of the extant texts found in different tombs. The main illustrations of the text come from the sarcophagus of Seti I. In this book the names of the twelve Hours of the night, the Hour Goddesses, Gates, the Guardians and the numbered Deities (No. 1 - 908) originate from The Egyptian Amduat, The Book of the Hidden Chamber by Erik Hornung and Theodore Abt. However, I made modifications and alterations to some of these names. These alterations are based on my own knowledge of hieroglyphs and insights unless stated otherwise. The photographs used in this book are my own and legally taken. The photographs were legally taken in Egypt in January 2018 with the use of photo tickets.
