Elephant Tears by Richard Trout Pdf

In this thrilling adventure by the author of Cayman Gold, a zoologist and his family must fight criminals and save animals in the African wilderness. In this second novel in the MacGregor Family Adventure Series, zoologist Dr. Jack MacGregor again strives to protect the earth’s dwindling resources and endangered animals, this time by pursuing an international cartel that is exploiting elephants in East Africa. The family’s three teenagers, Chris, Heather, and Ryan, become part of the action and help their father find a solution. They team up with native Africans and a seasoned American aviator to save the animals and bring the exploiters to justice. Mr. Trout’s expansive research, meticulous attention to detail, and the story's exotic locales make Elephant Tears: Mask of the Elephant an authentic and fascinating journey for young readers as they visit Serengeti, Amboseli, Masai Mara, and Mount Kilimanjaro. According to Leah Sparks of VOYA, Mr. Trout “respectfully depicts the native Africans and their tradition without glossing over their problems.” Readers learn environmental issues as they follow the adventures and keen insights of the teens in this fast-paced thriller, and they see how the MacGregor teenagers grow in discipline, self-reliance, and respect for other cultures. Praise for Elephant Tears ACCELERATED READER PROGRAM SELECTION SCHOLASTIC READING COUNTS! “An action-packed journey for young adults through the trials and triumphs of wildlife conservation in the African bush.” —Delia and Mark Owens, zoologists, authors of Cry of the Kalahari and The Eye of the Elephant

The World of Spirits and Ancestors in the Art of Western Sub-Saharan Africa by Elizabeth Skidmore Sasser Pdf

The World of Spirits and Ancestors in the Art of Western Sub-Saharan Africa illustrates for the first time a collection of African Sculpture at the Museum of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The masks and figurative carvings from the late nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century are from two sources: Ambassador and Mrs. Julius Walker's gift to ICASALS (International Center for Arid and Semiarid Land Studies), now on permanent loan to the Museum, and the Elliot Howard Collection. Howard, an artist and authority on antiques, chose examples of sculpture for their "variety and aesthetic appeal". His hope was that the pieces he assembled would provide new discoveries for those unacquainted with the art of Africa and an art experience that would "enhance mutual respect among people". Fittingly, then, a context for understanding is the focus of Elizabeth Skidmore Sasser's book. As the title suggests, The World of Spirits and Ancestors introduces carefully chosen examples of masks and figures as social and spiritual communications imbued with the living history and culture of the various peoples of western sub-Saharan Africa. Sasser emphasizes that geography and climate - ranging from semiarid deserts to tropical rain forests - influence not only the art but also the habitations and ceremonial life of the region. More than 180 drawings and illustrations reflect the creative genius that continues to meet environmental challenges and to express the distinctive contributions of the cultures and the people of western sub-Saharan Africa.

Tusk Tusk by David McKee Pdf

Once, elephants came in two colours: black or white. They loved all other creatures - but each set wanted to destroy the other. Peace-loving elephants ran and hid in the deepest jungle while battle commenced. The war-mongers succeeded: for a long time it seemed that there were no elephants in the world at all, not of any colour. But then the descendants of the peace-loving ones emerged from the jungle, and by now they were all grey. ‘This book was one of my favourites as a kid, I simply relished in the gloriousness of a load of elephants battling it out in a bizarre forest. It wasn’t until I was a bit older that I recognised the importance of the message that lay (not so subtly) underneath.’ OLIVER JEFFERS

Jesus Christ is not a human man, Jesus Christ is a deity. He can transform himself into anything. Jesus Christ and his angels can make human beings experience ectoplasm and can possess you in broad daylight and at night. Any spirit or deity that can shift-shape himself into anything like a fog, smoke, fire, clouds, insects, people or animals is considered not human, suspicious, unknown, scary, sneaky, secretive, and evil.
