The Existence Of Amy by Lana Grace Riva Pdf

Amy has a normal life. That is, if you were to go by a definition of 'no obvious indicators of peculiarity', and you didn't know her very well. She has good friends, a good job, a nice enough home. This normality, however, is precariously plastered on top of a different life. A life that is Amy's real life. The only one her brain will let her lead. What is it really like to live with mental illness? An insight into the reality of life with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety and depression. Five Proofs of the Existence of God by Edward Feser Pdf

This book provides a detailed, updated exposition and defense of five of the historically most important (but in recent years largely neglected) philosophical proofs of God’s existence: the Aristotelian, the Neo-Platonic, the Augustinian, the Thomistic, and the Rationalist. It also offers a thorough treatment of each of the key divine attributes—unity, simplicity, eternity, omnipotence, omniscience, perfect goodness, and so forth—showing that they must be possessed by the God whose existence is demonstrated by the proofs. Finally, it answers at length all of the objections that have been leveled against these proofs. This work provides as ambitious and complete a defense of traditional natural theology as is currently in print. Its aim is to vindicate the view of the greatest philosophers of the past— thinkers like Aristotle, Plotinus, Augustine, Aquinas, Leibniz, and many others— that the existence of God can be established with certainty by way of purely rational arguments. It thereby serves as a refutation both of atheism and of the fideism that gives aid and comfort to atheism.

Collected Articles on the Existence of God by Gaven Kerr Pdf

The twentieth century witnessed an explosion of scholarly interest in the philosophical thought of St Thomas Aquinas. One of the fruits of that Thomistic revival was an uncovering of St Thomas’s original contributions to many areas of philosophy, not least metaphysics. In the twenty first century, there has been renewed interest in Aquinas’s argumentation for the existence of God. This interest flows from an engagement with the work of the twentieth century scholars in presenting Aquinas’s own characteristic metaphysics. What we have seen is an interpretation and presentation of Aquinas’s proofs for God’s existence in terms of Thomas’s unique insights into the nature of being and the metaphysical structure of reality. Gaven Kerr has been one such author who has contributed in numerous ways to the revival of interest in Aquinas’s argumentation for the existence of God and its metaphysical buttressing. Over the last ten years Kerr has published articles on Aquinas’s various proofs for God’s existence and the metaphysics standing behind those proofs; this volume draws together those articles. Herein are included Kerr’s articles on per se ordered series, existential inertia, the proof in De Ente et Essentia, the argument from motion in the Summa Contra Gentiles, and the five ways themselves. Kerr has also written two new articles for this volume: one on the possibility of demonstrating God’s existence, and the other on how to move from God’s existence to God’s nature. This volume offers an overview of Kerr’s thinking over the last decade on Aquinas’s thought on the existence of God.

Proclus: On the Existence of Evils by Carlos Steel,Jan Opsomer Pdf

Proclus' On the Existence of Evils is not a commentary, but helps to compensate for the dearth of Neoplatonist ethical commentaries. The central question addressed in the work is: how can there be evil in a providential world? Neoplatonists agree that it cannot be caused by higher and worthier beings. Plotinus had said that evil is matter, which, unlike Aristotle, he collapsed into mere privation or lack, thus reducing its reality. He also protected higher causes from responsibility by saying that evil may result from a combination of goods. Proclus objects: evil is real, and not a privation. Rather, it is a parasite feeding off good. Parasites have no proper cause, and higher beings are thus vindicated as being the causes only of the good off which evil feeds.

Three Proofs for the Existence of God by Uchemadu Chée Kamanu Pdf

Three Proofs for the Existence of God gives scientific, historic, and prophetic proofs for the existence of God. If we do not think that a computer, or even a bicycle, could have come up by chance, without a designer, could we think that man who made the computer could have come up by chance, without a designer? Chance and design are mutually exclusive: the disproof of the one is the proof of the other. There is no third option! In biogenesis, genetics, dendrochronology, geophysics, and thermodynamics, evolution theory has been disproved experimentally and observationally. By default, therefore, design has been proven! Any attempt by evolutionists to experimentally disprove design, or prove chance, ends up proving design: The one conducting the experiment is the designer of that experiment, and the result is his design. If the experiment is left to chance, nothing happens! With historic data from the Bible added up, we show the year God created man and other things. Acts and relationships between God and his creation show up in other chapters to remind us that the Creator, God, lives and wills. One of these chapters, "Black History in Scripture," disproves the saying that "Christianity is the white man's religion." We show that the scriptures were translated into three African languages, for ten centuries, before there was an English Bible-among other facts. Did Jesus not live in Israel and Africa only?

An Inquiry Into the Existence of Guardian Angels by Pierre Jovanovic Pdf

"When Pierre Jovanovic was a reporter for Quotidien de Paris, he had just finished an interview and was driving home on a Silicon Valley freeway when he was suddenly hurled to the side of the car by a mysterious force. Seconds later, a bullet crashed through the windshield and buried itself in the back of the passenger's seat. Highway patrolmen told him that if he hadn't moved, he would have been killed instantly." "Shaken and curious, he began to compare notes with other journalists, many of whom were war-zone survivors. Most had had some kind of comparable experience of being snatched from death by an unseen hand." "Pierre began to interview authorities on near-death experience: Melvin Morse, Kenneth Ring, and Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. He collected first-hand accounts of the appearance of spiritual beings from adults and children all over the world. Voraciously, he began to read about the lives and Angelic accounts of the saints." "The book is the sum of his investigations and includes eyewitness accounts of the experiences of pilots, doctors, and journalists; interviews with leading near-death researchers and scientists; interviews with modern saints and visionaries on their mystical experiences from the Middle Ages to the present."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. The Existence Principle by Q.B. Gibson Pdf

When we ask whether something exists, we expect a yes or no answer, not a further query about what kind of existence, how much of it, whether we mean existence for you or existence for me, or whether we are asking about some property which it might have. In this book, this simple requirement is defended and pursued into its various and sometimes surprising implications. In the course of this pursuit, such questions arise as `Do appearances exist?' `Do unknowable things exist?' `Do past and future exist?' `Does God necessarily exist?' This novel and non-technical approach to important philosophical questions will be of interest to senior students of philosophy and, indeed, to all general readers with philosophical interests.
