The Federal Raisin Marketing Order (Classic Reprint) by Norris Taylor Pritchard Pdf

Excerpt from The Federal Raisin Marketing Order The California raisin industry includes more than raisin producers and over 20 packing firms who produce and market more than 40 percent of the world's supply of raisins. The typical crop of to tons has a farm value in the neighborhood of $50 million. During its 90-year history, the industry has grown and prospered, but has also suffered serious economic reverses. The dislocations experienced immediately after World War II, including declining domestic per capita consumption, loss of foreign markets, excessive market supplies, and as a result, depressed prices, caused the raisin industry to seek solutions to its economic problems through the Federal Raisin Marketing Order. Inaugurated in 1949, the Order has been in continuous Operation for 15 years. The raisin industry has used effectively the tools provided in the Order to achieve several benefits. These include substantial increases in prices paid to raisin producers and in packers' margins, expansion of sales in foreign markets, and progress toward orderly marketing. The industry has moved from an intolerable situation, prior to 1949, to a workable although not fully satisfactory marketing structure. However, several important problems remain. Some of these can be alleviated in the near future by industry actions within the framework of the Order. These actions include the following: (1) reducing price and market instability and, indirectly, instability Of incomes and production, and (2) expanding total raisin produc tion and sales. Marketing California Raisins (Classic Reprint) by Joseph C. Perrin Pdf

Excerpt from Marketing California Raisins The Thompson seedless variety, originally produced in England, was first grown in Sutter County, Calif., in 1872. It is said that the entire California acreage of Thompson seedless grapes can be traced back to one original Sutter County grapevine. Because it lacked seeds, the Thompson grape made an excellent raisin, and cultivation soon spread to the San Joaquin Valley. The Federal Milk Marketing Order Program (Classic Reprint) by U. S. Agricultural Marketing Service Pdf

Excerpt from The Federal Milk Marketing Order Program The Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937 and its predecessors - the Agricultural Adjustment Acts of 1935 and 1933 - insofar as they relate to milk, grew out of the needs of milk pro ducers for help in achieving and main taining some degree of bargaining power over the prices they received for milk. The characteristics of milk cause an inherent instability in milk mar keting and contribute to producers' bargaining difficulties. Milk is bulky and perishable and must be moved promptly to market. Because milk is produced every day of the year, farmers must continue shipping it to market even when market prices are not satisfactory. What Determines California Raisin Sales by S. W. Shear Pdf

Excerpt from What Determines California Raisin Sales: A Preliminary Report Based on an Analysis of Data for the Crop Years, 1921-1929 This preliminary analysis of the factors affecting California raisin sales was made by the Giannini Foundation at the request of the Federal Farm Board and with its financial cooperation. Its purpose is to make available and to inter pret certain fundamental facts needed by the California Grape Control Board and its subsidiary, the California Raisin Pool, and others interested in, and responsible for California's raisin marketing program. The major facts and conclusions were presented to the Directors of the california.raisin Pool in Fresno on July 31, 1930. It has been possible to present many of the most im portant California data included only because of the generous cooperation of the sun-maid Raisin Growers Association and the independent packers acting through the Dried Fruit Association of California. The authors are also indebted to the following persons for generous assistance in the preparation of this re port: Dr. Holbrook Working and Dr. Alonzo E. Taylor of the Food Research Institute at Stanford University, Dr. E. W. Gaumnitz of the Division.of Markets of the California State Department of Agriculture, Professor Donald Sham of Santa Clar University, and Messrs. L. A. Wheeler of the u.s. Bureau of Agricultural Economics, R. S. Hollingshead of the u.s. Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce, M. E. Brooding of the California Packing Corporation, K. R. Crops and Markets, Vol. 1: May 17, 1924 (Classic Reprint) by United States Department Of Agriculture Pdf

Excerpt from Crops and Markets, Vol. 1: May 17, 1924 The foreign demand for American dried fruits has been very active during the past nine months, the total exports from July 1, 1923, to March 31, 1924, having amounted to pounds, valued at as compared with only 190, pounds, valued at during the correspond ing period the year before. The German market for these commodities, particularly for prunes and apricots, has been the feature of the dried fruit exporting trade since the beginning of the year. Raisins are the only item in our exports of dried fruits that show a decrease during the past nine months, shipments having amounted to only pounds as compared with 000 pounds during the corresponding nine months last year. This decrease was due chiefly to the large decrease in shipments to the British market, to which only 15 million pounds were exported as compared with 36 million pounds the year before. The British market registered a poor demand for American raisins on account of the large quantities available from Greece and Turkey. Exports to the Netherlands were also lower, having decreased by more than two million pounds. This total decrease of some 24 million pounds in exports of raisins to the countries mentioned was partly offset, however, by the increase of 12 million pounds in shipments to China, Japan, Canada, Denmark, and Mexico. The large increase in shipments to China and Japan constitute the outstanding feature of the raisin trade during this period. Property Law by Jerry L. Anderson,Daniel B. Bogart Pdf

Property Law: Practice, Problems, and Perspectives, Second Edition is a truly contemporary 1L Property text. This book is distinguished by its extraordinarily clear and engaging writing, and by the degree to which the authors make the material accessible and enjoyable to students in this foundational course. The authors embrace the task of training lawyers, and as a result, their text regularly asks students to answer questions and solve problems from the perspective of attorneys. The authors delve fully into legal doctrine and address profound policy issues in a direct and understandable manner, drawing upon an outstanding range of case opinions, including those from seminal cases as well those from recent and provocative disputes. The text uses a two-color design and includes a wonderful selection of photographs. Important documents useful to teaching particular cases and material are reproduced throughout. Property Law: Practice, Problems, and Perspectives is more than just a text. It incorporates a truly unique online simulation that features practice-ready materials and professionally-produced, author-scripted videos that illuminate property law issues and disputes. The text regularly references documents used in practice, which are available to students in the simulation. New to the Second Edition: Revised and updated case opinions and textual discussion. For example: The section addressing the Fair Housing Act now includes a discussion of disparate impact litigation after Texas Dept. of Housing and Community Affairs v. Inclusive Communities Project, Inc. The chapter devoted to takings law now includes summaries of Horne v. Dept. of Agriculture and Murr v. Wisconsin. New and sometimes startling images, such as a subdivision-marketing poster from San Diego in 1915 that offers a frightening example of pervasive discriminatory housing practices that existed prior to the Fair Housing Act. Enjoyable new problems drawn from reported case opinions. For example, the problem of “The Obstinate Ex,” involving a couple who live together in a home owned individually by one of them. When that person breaks off the relationship, the other refuses to move out, claiming an interest in the property. Professors and students will benefit from: A blend of property doctrine and real-world practice, featuring a stimulating, challenging presentation that is also transparent. The book retains the subtlety of the classic texts but comments explicitly on the overlapping elements to ensure that students can see all the connections among legal doctrines. A unique interactive element that teaches students how to read a land survey, helping them understand the issues presented by the text in case opinions and problems. The transactional perspective adopted by the authors in relevant chapters, such as real estate transactions and landlord/tenant law. A unique border along the edge of the text in the chapter on the real property transaction, allowing students to place key concepts and doctrinal material in the context of phases of the transaction. A robust electronic version of the casebook, along with online videos and practice-ready materials. A book that is the ideal text for a four-unit course, but includes ample coverage permitting a professor to construct a five- or six-unit course.
