The Fluid-bed Calcination of Radioactive Waste by Anonim Pdf

The treatment of radioactive wastes by a fluid-bed technique has been demonstrated for both aluminum nitrate and Purex low-acid (formaldehyde-treated) wastes. The conversion of the liquid wastes to calcined, stable spherical particles has been achieved by spray injection into a heated, violently agitated bed of similar particles. Volume reduction factors of eight for the aluminum waste and three for the Purex low-acid waste have been routinely realized.
