Building Resilience of Floating Children and Left-Behind Children in China by Guanglun Michael Mu Pdf

The past two decades have seen exponential growth of urbanisation and migration in China. Emerging from this growth is a population of floating and left-behind children which is estimated to be approaching 100 million. Due to their increasing risks of undesirable educational and social, as well as health and psychological, outcomes, there is a great urgency to help floating children and left-behind children beat the odds. This book offers an analysis of how oscillations of government discourse have come to shape central and local educational policies regarding the schooling of these children. It also delves into child and youth resilience in this unique migration context, examining what can be done to build up resilience of floating and left-behind children. In this vein, the book will complement current knowledge and advance context- and culture-specific understandings of child and youth resilience through both school-based and community-based approaches. The book aims to answer a fundamental question: How to help floating children and left-behind children become responsive and resilient to structural deficiencies and dynamics in the migration context of China? This is important reading for scholars, school professionals, community workers, and policy makers to better address the social and educational resilience and wellbeing of floating and left-behind children.

Does the Glass Still Have Color? by Robette L. Boozer Pdf

This book is a poetic flow of emotions going beyond combatting emotional pain and heartache. It is an experience for a larger platform that is bigger than just the concept of grief. Tragedy is discussed poetically in its rawest form and how the aftermath can impact love, despair, and hope, the emotions that people are hesitant to share but carefully keep hidden within themselves. Hope is capsuled within a few hollowed moments, combined with the cries of a soul, using an interesting play of words to help others feel as though they are not alone during the healing process or change the persons perspective on many things as they move forward with their life. It is a collection of free verse pieces that reflect the depths of a broken heart and how love is defined and remains behind when life is impacted by an unforeseen tragedy.

When reading about Native Americans, not many will consider exactly what Native Americans are doing now. That's understandable considering the appalling history of battles for lands, traditions, and their cultures under the white man's hands. No set of peoples or civilisations have ever had to face such trauma as the Native Americans have for hundreds of years. That's the history that is read about, understood, and hopefully learnt from, so that it never happens again. But Native Americans have come through everything that they have had thrown at them over the years, and are now making a new history. A history of renewed interest and learning in their cultures, language, traditions and their turbulent past. With many Native Americans reaching great heights in a very competitive world. This book covers that new Native American history and honours just some of those involved.

Alex, Frederick and Stalin all portray to have very similar qualities in one another. Each has their own professions as teachers, artist and writers. They are all young adults in their late 20’s and early 30’s. However, it is a special bond that they make as friends that help them enjoy and make the most out of life whenever they are in each others company. In spite of their professions, they all relate well to one another. They can all cook well; have great taste in art, nice homes and value friendships. Alex and Frederick show Stalin a great time in Paris. These individuals both have their own places in Paris and they find pleasure in spending time with Stalin who is an African American from the United States. They also visit each others Pub in the city and gear themselves for a fun and adventurous trip. Conflict starts to arise in the story as Stalin figures out that the world and life he is living is too good to be true. Stalin finds out that Alex and Frederick may perhaps be gay and probes them for information regarding their lifestyle. Oddly enough, Alex and Frederick were gay but it did not interfere with Stalin enjoying their company. Stalin meets a beautiful woman named Isabelle who happens to be Alex’s good friend. Stalin finds her extremely attractive and feels she could be the person that he would want to marry. Alex aggressively told Stalin that it is okay for you and Isabelle to be friends but nothing should ever go beyond your friendship with her. Regardless of the comments hurled at Stalin, he still pursued her throughout his stay. When Stalin would go out with his two buddies, he would request to always see Isabelle. Alex and Isabelle have a great friendship. As a matter of fact, Alex cherishes the friendship he has with Isabelle to the point where no one else should interfere, including Stalin. Alex used different alternatives and excuses through his plans to not invite Isabelle around Stalin. Alex felt the need to protect the friendship he has with Stalin as well as Isabelle, even if it meant absolute separation between the both of them. There is always something to do for Stalin each day in the city but he ends up spending too much money throughout his stay and realizes that he may not afford to pay the rest of the rent for his Pub. Stalin asks Alex if he can stay with him until it is time for him to go home. Alex grants Stalin’s request. Stalin’s personality engages him into the drinking habits of Alex and Frederick. They go out everyday to drink, socialize and enjoy the city. Even though Stalin spends most of his time with Alex and Frederick, it did not deter him from working on his writing project. Stalin also finds time to break away from his friends to explore parts of the city. He uses parts of his journey to find places that would propel him further to completing his project. Stalin has high expectations that he will become a famous writer someday. The tireless efforts that are placed into his writing will one day make him become a huge success. Each time Stalin visits Paris, he is marveled by the people of this great city. He likes the fact that interracial couples can be together without any signs of hatred or jealousy by someone else. Stalin also sees how men can greet each other with a kiss on the cheek and it is regarded as acceptable to other people. Life in the city of Paris seems too good to be true. Stalin feels that many people’s culture and lifest

Northland Footprints by Kenneth Conibear Pdf

This is a realistic novel of the Canadian Northwest, situated on Little Bent Tree Lake in Canada's Northwest Territories, in which animals are the chief characters. It describes with humour, drama and pathos a whole community of animals and birds and their unceasing struggle to live. It is neither a fantasy nor a treatise. It is fiction, with creatures of the world playing the main parts in the drama- the beaver, the muskrat, the silver fox, the whiskey-jack, wolverine and many others. Along with all the emotions that make any story worth reading- love, hate, fear, envy- here are such animal/human qualities as heroism, devotion, mother love, fidelity, cunning, all portrayed through the lives of the book's characters. Their loves, hunger, feasts, fights, sadness, gladness, deaths, their interrelations, the part played in their lives by winter, summer, the snows, the winds, the buildings of the beaver, the introduction of fear into their lives because of the introduction of man, the hunter/trapper- these are combined into a unified plot which draws to an exciting climax.
