The Generations of Heaven and Earth by Jon Garvey Pdf

New science has surprised many by showing, contrary to received wisdom, that a real Adam and Eve could have lived amongst other humans in historical times and yet be the ancestors of every living person, as traditional Christianity has always taught. This theory was first published in book form in 2019, but Jon Garvey, familiar with it from its early days, believes it helps confirm the Christian account of reality by giving it a solid foundation in science and history. In this book he argues that the long existence of other people before and alongside Adam was in all likelihood known to the Bible's original authors. This conclusion helps build a compelling biblical "big story" of a new kind of created order initially frustrated by Adam's failure, but finally accomplished in Christ. This "new creation" theme complements that of the "old creation" covered in his first book, God's Good Earth. The two together contribute to a unified, and fully orthodox, understanding of the overall message of the Bible.

The Genealogical Adam and Eve by S. Joshua Swamidass Pdf

Evolutionary science teaches that humans arose as a population, sharing common ancestors with other animals. Most readers of the book of Genesis in the past understood all humans descended from Adam and Eve, a couple specially created by God. These two teachings seem contradictory, but is that necessarily so? In the fractured conversation of human origins, can new insight guide us to solid ground in both science and theology? In The Genealogical Adam and Eve, S. Joshua Swamidass tests a scientific hypothesis: What if the traditional account is somehow true, with the origins of Adam and Eve taking place alongside evolution? Building on well-established but overlooked science, Swamidass explains how it's possible for Adam and Eve to be rightly identified as the ancestors of everyone. His analysis opens up new possibilities for understanding Adam and Eve, consistent both with current scientific consensus and with traditional readings of Scripture. These new possibilities open a conversation about what it means to be human. In this book, Swamidass untangles several misunderstandings about the words human and ancestry, in both science and theology explains how genetic and genealogical ancestry are different, and how universal genealogical ancestry creates a new opportunity for rapprochement explores implications of genealogical ancestry for the theology of the image of God, the fall, and people "outside the garden" Some think Adam and Eve are a myth. Some think evolution is a myth. Either way, the best available science opens up space to engage larger questions together. In this bold exploration, Swamidass charts a new way forward for peace between mainstream science and the Christian faith.

Should Adam Have Taken the Liberty to Rescue All Generations? by Timothy Best Pdf

Should Adam Have Taken the Liberty to Rescue All Generations? is basically about God’s wonderful creation of the heavens and earth and everything in them and Adam’s failure to obey God’s command not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, which brought about the great sins to all generations. Adam’s action also brought about the first of the Great Towel of Babel, the Great Flood and the Great Exodus, after the Great Sin. I also wished that Adam would have prayed to God to possibly be allowed to cut the tree of knowledge of good and evil down in an effort to prevent the great sin. God commanded that Adam shall not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but there is no mention concerning touching it. Eve, who was not present when God gave Adam the command, came along and added the word touch. And if the tree was cut down, Satan of old certainly would not have had an opportunity to tempt neither Adam nor Eve. So basically, I am praying and I wish the whole world would read my book and pray for God to bring back fellowship on Earth with him. What a time that would be and what a time it would have been to hang out with the likes of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and Jesus Christ during these modern-day times if it wasn’t for Adam’s great sin. That’s basically what my book is all about—having no sins, no oldness, and no death, only fellowship with God on Earth.

The Generations of Adam by Bobby W Norman Pdf

Imagine the wonder, when the world was in its infancy and the newly created Adam, formed with a consciousness, beheld the face of God and then Paradise in his first moments. How might Adam have described the perfection of The Garden, and the experience of having his mate formed with one of his bones? Adam's diary would have contained these things and more, including the horrible reality of his fall and the agony he and Eve felt at their sudden separation from God. The Generations of Adam is an imagined look, based on Scripture, at the 930 years of Adam's natural life, and the creation of the world before then as it was told to him by Elohiym. It details the deeds of Adam's descendants, good and bad, teaching us about the path each took toward God, or, in many cases, away from Him. When Adam dies and is reunited with his son Abel in Paradise, imagine his questions for each new visitor to Abraham's Bosom. He searches for information about the family he and Eve started. Did any of the line of Cain reach the safety of Noah's Ark? Had the Seed of the Woman Who God promised been born? How long must the world wait for the One who will break the curse his sin caused? In the fullness of time, the effects of the curse are undone. God's master plan is executed, and we see, through Adam's eyes, how failure, death, and sorrow are rendered void, replaced by purpose, hope, and life. The curse of sin is reversed by the sacrifice of the Creator Himself.

Coming to Grips With Genesis by Dr. Terry Mortenson,Thane Ury Pdf

Fourteen theological scholars address key topics related to the age of the earth, which is the crucial issue of debate in the church today regarding origins. Bringing to bear rigorous biblical, theological, and historical arguments in favor of a six-day creation, the global Flood, and a young earth, they also provide much-needed critiques of a number of contemporary old-earth interpretations of the book of Genesis. This fresh defense of the literal history of Genesis 1-11 nicely complements other studies which focus more on the scientific evidence of young-earth creationism. As such, this book can serve as a versatile supplement to other works, but is also designed to be used as a standalone text for seminary and Bible college professors and students, pastors, missionaries, and others who want in-depth apologetic resources. Coming to Grips with Genesis: Biblical Authority and the Age of the Earthincludes: Forewords by Dr. John MacArthur, President of the Master's Seminary and Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, CA; and the late Dr. Henry Morris, Founder and President Emeritus, Institute for Creation Research Detailed analysis of the verbs of Genesis 1 A defense of the Genesis 5 & 11 genealogies as strict chronologies Reasons for rejecting millions of years of death and natural evil before Adam's sin Careful reflection on Jesus' teachings regarding a young earth

Fertility and Faith by Philip Jenkins Pdf

Demography drives religious change. High-fertility societies, like most of contemporary Africa, tend to be fervent and devout. The lower a population's fertility rates, the greater the tendency for people to detach from organized or institutional religion. Thus, fertility rates supply an effective gauge of secularization trends. In Fertility and Faith, Philip Jenkins maps the demographic revolution that has taken hold of many countries around the globe in recent decades and explores the implications for the future development of the world's religions. Demographic change has driven the secularization of contemporary Western Europe, where the revolution began. Jenkins shows how the European trajectory of rapid declines in fertility is now affecting much of the globe. The implications are clear: the religious character of many non-European areas is highly likely to move in the direction of sweeping secularization. And this is now reshaping the United States itself. This demographic revolution is reshaping Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and Judaism. In order to accommodate the new social trends, these religions must adapt to situations where large families are no longer the norm. Each religious tradition will develop distinctive emphases concerning morality, gender, and sexuality, as well as the roles of clergy and laity in the faith's institutional structures. Radical change follows great upheaval. The tidal shift is well underway. With Fertility and Faith, Philip Jenkins describes this ongoing phenomenon and envisions our collective religious future.
