The Girl from Keller's by Harold Bindloss Pdf

Harold Edward Bindloss (1866-1945) was an English novelist who wrote many adventure novels set in western Canada. Bindloss was born in Liverpool in 1866. He was more than 30 years old before he began writing. Previously he worked as a farmer in Canada and as a cargo heaver, a planter, and at other jobs in southern climes. He returned to London. In 1898, he published his first book, a non-fiction account based on his travels in Africa, called In the Niger Country. This was followed by dozens of novels. He was a popular writer. One reviewer writes: "A new book by Harold Bindloss is always welcome. He tells a story well indeed, but one likes his books best perhaps for the environment which he knows so well how to sketch. He has written charming stories of the Canadian Northwest and one remembers with pleasure his novels Prescott of Saskatchewan and Winston of the Prairie," (Oakland Tribune, 1915). Bindloss' most famous works include: Ranching for Sylvia (1912), The Gold Trail (1910) and Vane of the Timberlands (1911).

The Girl From Keller's (Classic Reprint) by Harold Bindloss Pdf

Excerpt from The Girl From Keller's He was thirty years of age and a railroad builder, though he hardly thought he had much talent for his profession. Hard work and stubborn perseverance had carried him on up to the present, but it looked as if he could not go much farther. It was eight years since he began by joining a shovel gang, and he felt the lack of scientific training. He might continue to fill subordinate posts, but the men who came to the front had been taught by famous engineers and held certificates. Yet F esting was ambitious and had abilities that sprang rather from character than technical knowl edge, and now wondered whether he should leave the railroad and join the breakers of virgin soil. He knew something about prairie farming and believed that success was largely a matter of temperament. One must be able to hold on if one meant to Win. Then he dismissed the matter for a time, and set OR again with a firm and vigorous tread. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Miss Spitfire by SARAH MILLER Pdf

Annie Sullivan was little more than a half-blind orphan with a fiery tongue when she arrived at Ivy Green in 1887. Desperate for work, she'd taken on a seemingly impossible job-teaching a child who was deaf, blind, and as ferocious as any wild animal. But if anyone was a match for Helen Keller, it was the girl who'd been nicknamed Miss Spitfire. In her efforts to reach Helen's mind, Annie lost teeth to the girl's raging blows, but she never lost faith in her ability to triumph. Told in first person, Annie Sullivan's past, her brazen determination, and her connection to the girl who would call her Teacher are vividly depicted in this powerful novel.

Helen Keller by Rachel A. Koestler-Grack Pdf

Robbed of three of her five senses at a young age, Helen Keller worked as a crusader for the education of the deaf and blind, and helped disabled people around the world find hope. At 19 months old, Keller suddenly lost her ability to see and hear, leaving her deaf, dumb, and mute. She was left to live in darkness and silence until a young teacher named Anne Sullivan used groundbreaking methods to teach Keller not only how to read and write, but even how to speak. An intelligent young woman, she was the first deaf-blind person to graduate from college. This miraculous woman's life became a symbol of triumph over adversity, and her story stands as a testament to the idea that any obstacle can be overcome.
