Property and Casualty Insurance Concepts Simplified by Christopher J. Boggs Pdf

This book details key property and casualty concepts rarely discussed or found in print; rather they are often left to be "discovered" over time. These important concepts are now written down for all insurance practitioners to easily access. Examples of the topics and concepts found in this book include rules for reading ANY insurance policy; why losses are excluded; contractual risk transfer; legal liability theories; "COPE" details; and the proper explanation of coinsurance concepts. Also included is a rather extensive glossary of insurance and insurance-related terms. Readers will: 1) Gain a deeper understanding of insurance theories; 2) Be better prepared to explain insurance concepts to their clients; and 3) Develop a greater appreciation and understanding of the claims valuation process.

The Insurance Professional's Practical Guide to Workers' Compensation by Chris Boggs Pdf

This is not your ordinary workers' compensation book. Workers' compensation coverage is relatively easy to understand. It's the legal, procedural and contractual issues surrounding workers' compensation that are complicated. In "The Insurance Professional's Practical Guide to Workers' Compensation," Boggs addresses in clear, jargon-free English many of the concepts, policies and practices in workers compensation that brokers, risk advisors, and corporate risk managers need to know. The chapters, such as on which injuries and which workers are covered, free the reader from having to wade through dense legal and regulatory treatises. Boggs explains to non-lawyers legal aspects of workers compensation. If you need to use the book as little as one time a year, get it, because you'll probably need it much more often.

The Geneva Papers by Christophe Courbage Pdf

In January 1976, Raymond Barre, the first President of The Geneva Association, and Orio Giarini, its first Secretary General, founded The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance with the main goal of supporting and encouraging research in the economics of risk and insurance. At that time, research in the field of insurance was still embryonic and insurance was regarded as peripheral social activity. When sustained economic growth gained traction, the function of insurance gradually emerged as a key contributor to economic development. By integrating uncertainty into economic theory and benefiting from the progress of both financial economics and decision theory, research developed further in the field of insurance economics and risk management, and is now prolific. The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance undeniably contributed to this evolution and its impact on research in insurance has largely exceeded what its two founding members could have expected. This volume is a special collection of papers celebrating 40 Years of The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance. The collection looks back at the storied history of The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance and features papers from some of the esteemed authors who have contributed to the journal in its lifetime. This collection of papers highlights just a few of the many themes addressed in the papers published by the journal since it was created. Nevertheless, the selection exemplifies the richness and variety of topics the field of insurance covers.

Care Without Coverage by Institute of Medicine,Board on Health Care Services,Committee on the Consequences of Uninsurance Pdf

Many Americans believe that people who lack health insurance somehow get the care they really need. Care Without Coverage examines the real consequences for adults who lack health insurance. The study presents findings in the areas of prevention and screening, cancer, chronic illness, hospital-based care, and general health status. The committee looked at the consequences of being uninsured for people suffering from cancer, diabetes, HIV infection and AIDS, heart and kidney disease, mental illness, traumatic injuries, and heart attacks. It focused on the roughly 30 million-one in seven-working-age Americans without health insurance. This group does not include the population over 65 that is covered by Medicare or the nearly 10 million children who are uninsured in this country. The main findings of the report are that working-age Americans without health insurance are more likely to receive too little medical care and receive it too late; be sicker and die sooner; and receive poorer care when they are in the hospital, even for acute situations like a motor vehicle crash.

Financial Management of Life Insurance Companies by J. David Cummins,Joan Lamm-Tennant Pdf

th This book is published to commemorate the 50 Anniversary of the S.S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education. Administered at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the Huebner Foundation was established in 1941 to strengthen insurance education at the collegiate level by increasing the number of professors specializing in insurance and enriching the literature in the field. The financial support of leading life insurance companies has enabled the Foundation to provide post-graduate education for prospective insurance teachers and scholars. Through its fellowship program, the Foundation supports students in the Ph.D. program in Risk and Insurance at the Wharton School. The success of the Foundation is measured by the accomplishments of its alumni. Former Huebner Fellows play leading roles in every major area of insurance education. Fellows teach insurance to tens of thousands of undergraduate and MBA students each year and have written hundreds of books and thousands of articles on insurance. Fellows hold leadership positions at the American College, the Life Office Management Association, and the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program. The Foundation was created in honor of Dr. Solomon S. Huebner, a pioneer in insurance education. Dr. Huebner taught the first organized course on the economics of insurance ever offered at the collegiate level in 1904. An internationally recognized author and teacher, Dr. Huebner had a profound impact on both insurance education and the insurance industry. He served on the faculty of the Wharton School for more than nearly fifty years.
