The Intelligent Nation by John Beckford Pdf

The Intelligent Nation proposes a systemic and radical transformation of the organisation, management, ownership and performance of the services of the state by capitalising on the potential offered by contemporary information capability and fulfilling the rights and obligations both to and of citizens. In this book, John Beckford shows how, by adopting the principles of an Intelligent Organisation, the state can thrive and meet the needs of its citizens. He proposes a complete rethink of the state as the enabler or provider of public services. In particular, he points to the failure of the public sector to significantly emulate the massive gains in productivity and customer focus experienced in both manufacturing and services (e.g. finance, retailing, insurance). Governance and all public services must be redesigned to align to the contemporary needs of the citizen and exploit the power of information to enable a transformation of their effectiveness, redefine efficiency and support human-based services in crucial areas. Each chapter provides the key learning points, a discussion of the problem in theory and practice, integrated case studies, and discussion points. Written in an accessible style, the book provides thought-provoking supplemental reading for masters and undergraduate students reading organisation theory, organisation development, political science, public administration, healthcare, information systems and business and management science.

IQ and the Wealth of Nations by Richard Lynn,Tatu Vanhanen Pdf

Lynn and Vanhanen test the hypothesis on the causal relationship between the average national intelligence (IQ) and the gap between rich and poor countries by empirical evidence. Based on an extensive survey of national IQ tests, the results of their work challenge the previous theories of economic development and provide a new basis to evaluate the prospects of economic development throughout the world. They begin by reviewing and evaluating some major previous theories. The concept of intelligence is then described and intelligence quotient (IQ) introduced. Next they show that intelligence is a significant determinant of earnings within nations, and they connect intelligence with various economic and social phenomena. The sociology of intelligence at the level of sub-populations in nations is examined, and the independent (national IQ) and dependent (various measures of per capita income and economic growth rates) variables are defined and described. They then provide empirical analyses starting from the 81 countries for which direct evidence of national IQs is available; the analysis is then extended to the world group of 185 countries. The hypothesis is tested by the methods of correlation and regression analyses. The results of statistical analyses support the hypothesis strongly. The results of the analyses and various means to reduce the gap between rich and poor countries are discussed. A provocative analysis that all scholars, students, and researchers involved with economic development need to confront.

The Intelligent Organisation by John Beckford Pdf

The Intelligent Organisation proposes a radically different way of designing organisations to capitalise on the potential offered by contemporary information capability. Intelligent Organisations, designed backwards from their customers, recognise information as their key source of competitive advantage. An Intelligent Organisation uses information to drive learning and adaptation at the level of individuals, tasks, processes and the whole organisation, to deliver transformational changes in business performance. This fully updated 2nd edition explores how to enable this change through systemic reinvention. Drawing on proven organisational applications exploiting data, information and management science, and grounded in tested theory, this book is not about incremental improvement, but about fundamentally rethinking the whole. Building on the first edition, two chapters have been added to apply the ideas of the Intelligent Organisation to the individual as well as to the nation. Further discussion on the current issues around technology and ethics have been incorporated, as well as review questions and improved pedagogy. The text contains updated case studies throughout, and is accompanied by a dedicated website, www.intelligentorganisation.com, with support materials for lecturers. Uniquely bridging the gap between information systems and organisational behaviour, The Intelligent Organisation will be of particular significance to Masters and Undergraduate students of Information Systems, Knowledge Management and Organisational Theory.

The Smart Nation Act by Robert David Steele Pdf

"There are immediate benefits to both national security and national prosperity of creating a government-wide open source intelligence program--preferably not managed by the intelligence specialists, who have repeatedly demonstrated their complete disdain for open sources of information. Those benefits would include the provision of an insurance policy for intelligence coverage of Third World security issues; an immediate increase in the timeliness, coverage and political utility of overtly available information; an immediate increase in open source information sharing across the departments and with the private sector; and finally, the provision of a foundation for a web-based OSINT exchange with allies, other nations and international groups" -- p.33

SALES TRAINING: The art of selling to intelligent people by Anonim Pdf

How will this book benefit you? Sales people often think: If I’m hard-working and honest with my customers, why do I need a better understanding of things like “neuroscience”, “the psychology of trust” and “reverse psychology”? The answer is simple: there are some truly amazing sales people, who go the extra mile to collect their customers at the airport, entertain them at restaurants, tell funny jokes on LinkedIn and then after doing all these things to impress customers, they find out that the customer bought from their competitor who did not do any of these things to impress them. Sometimes the customer can even perceive dedicated sales consultants as being desperate, causing them to lose the deal. Other sales people still attempt to use mental strategies to persuade their customers to buy their products or services and by doing so they seem to forget that resistance to persuasion is a common reaction in all human beings. This results in salespeople failing to close straightforward sales that should have been very easy to close. This is precisely why salespeople need a deeper understanding of how customers think, whom they trust, and why they decide to buy. Appreciating these concepts will give you a real edge as a salesperson: you will gain the confidence and proficiency to take your sales performance to the highest level. All the techniques found in this book focus on smarter sales, not harder sales. Hopefully, by the end of this book you will have understood that sales success does not depend on your desire to sell or on how hard you try. Rather, it depends on your ability to understand the mechanisms that underlie the buying process. You will learn to be a smarter salesperson, who is confident and relaxed and can dextrously use a handful of strategies leading to success. What this book is NOT about Now let’s be clear about something: some people think that this book is about the dark side of sales. However, this is not the case. Au contraire, if you are stuck in a pattern where you are currently using questionable sales techniques that are making good money but is bad for your reputation, you’re about to learn new methods that are more effective and will give you an excellent reputation instead. The methods described in this book are insightful rather than dubious. Who is this book for? There are three groups of people who will benefit tremendously from reading this book. Firstly, if you already work in sales and perform well, but somehow find that over time your reputation is suffering in the process. Secondly, if you are totally new to sales and would like to get it right from the start, with this book you can learn to master the psychology of selling so that you never struggle in this profession. Thirdly, if you work in sales, have a good reputation, but you need to increase your conversion rate to see better performance, this book will allow you to fine-tune your selling approach. Cautionary notes The tactics explained in this book are best used when selling a credible product or service to the right prospect. Please don’t abuse these tactics to try and manipulate buyers into spending their money on inferior products that they will regret buying. After all, it is your responsibility to preserve your long-term reputation as a sales professional.
