The Joy of Fitting in your Old Pants by Dinkar Pdf

There are some moments in our life which are hard to forget. The joy of being in love for the first time, the moment when you receive your first salary, the kiss of a loved one, the birth of your child, your baby’s first steps and the subsequent fall….and the moment you can fit in your old pants after weeks of starvation and jogging around. Only to gain it back slowly in a few months. You know we get busy- work, life, the boss gets in our way and our dreams, as inches slip slowly by, when one fine day you try to fit in again in those old pants for your cousin’s weddings and reality comes staring back at you in the bathroom mirror. ‘Too many laddoos this Diwali, Sigh’. Another Diet Book. Why? Yet another diet book. Yep, I understand. There are already hundreds of them out there. Why do I need another one? There are as many books out there as there are diets. Many are excellent, some are good and some are outrightly bad. The problem is that which are excellent are tough to read. With footnotes going in pages and half the books dedicated to references, they are not much fun either. Simplicity is difficult. Try explaining how an airplane flies to a six-year-old and see if you can do it. Damn! It is difficult even for aeronautical engineers. So when scientists talk to other scientists, they can talk in their language and explain everything to each other. But who will teach us normal everyday people what the hell is going on with our bodies? I will tell you who- another layperson. But why fun? Because six-year-olds refuse to learn anything if it's not fun enough. But why a vegetarian book? Because it is so out of fashion that nobody is talking about it. People are talking about veganism, they talk about carnivores, about low carb, keto but nobody likes to talk about plain old vegetarians. As if these people don't exist.

Mending Matters by Katrina Rodabaugh Pdf

This guide explores visible mending techniques in both hands-on projects and thoughtful insight about how mending relates to mindful well-being. Mending Matters explores sewing on two levels: First, it includes more than twenty projects that showcase visible mending—styles that are edgy, modern, and bold, yet draw on traditional stitching. It does all this with just four simple mending techniques: exterior patches, interior patches, slow stitches, darning, and weaving. In addition, the book addresses the way mending leads to a more mindful relationship to fashion and to overall well-being. In essays that accompany each how-to chapter, Katrina Rodabaugh explores mending as a metaphor for appreciating our own naturally flawed selves. She also examines the ways in which mending teaches us new skills, self-reliance, and confidence, all gained from making things with our own hands.

The 40 Days 2 Light Challenge by Jason Knight Pdf

In 40 Days 2 Light Challenge: A Life Transformation Guide, author Jason Knight recounts both his journey from atheism to Christianity and his path from Obesity to good health. While seemingly distinct stories, they come together as one in the 40 Days 2 Light Challenge. Just as Jesus implored each of us to build our spiritual homes on rock, not sand, here we are shown the importance of building our weight loss goals on a solid foundation. To not just eat less and work out more, but to incorporate prayer and Bible study into our daily routine to provide us the strength and discipline necessary to succeed...not just within the confines of the 40 Day Challenge, but throughout the rest of our lives. This book is a reminder that life transformation is much more than physical. We can only truly succeed when we have help from above. Portions of the proceeds from book sales will benefit a variety of ministries both local and national.

Hungry Heart by Lorene Masters Pdf

Hungry Heart is filled with the honest searching of a girl's coming of age and beyond, looking for love and acceptance. At times the journey to adulthood is seen through revealing journal entries and poetry; at other times it sounds the desperate inborn cry of the human heart from infancy to adulthood-the need to be loved and cherished. Hungry Heart tells the story of the search for love through food, men, more food, more men, and finally finding the hunger quenched by the greatest love of all. "What I remember most about Lorene is that she always had a smile on her face no matter what the situation was. It was hard to tell if she was on top of the world or hurting terribly inside. She was never unkind to anyone, even those that didn't treat her well. I truly believe she has a spirit that can't be broken. I know there was a lot of pain in those days but she never let it totally defeat her. It is very evident now that she has raised above all that to become very successful and works tirelessly to inspire others." - Mark Perkins, Director of Bands and Technology, Scranton High School, Scranton, North Dakota.

As far as I know, it is the first time that working class gays have given us an insight into their lives.... A singular contribution." --George L. Mosse "Lemke's interviews with 14 gay men, mainly working class, not only encompass a range of gay lifestyles... but reflect almost a century of German history.... Ultimately, love and a steady partnership are upheld as the ideal." --Publishers Weekly "These narratives provide helpful insight into daily life in the GDR--a state that highly valued conformity--as lived by a minority rarely acknowledged." --Library Journal "... vividly portray the men's trials, tragedies, and triumphs... these memoirs are engagingly provocative.... will serve as a treasure house for future historians, sociologists, and other researchers." --Lambda Book Report "Not just gay men, but anyone with a little humanity will find it rewarding to spend a few hours listening to these men." --Hungry Mind Review "... a rare, intensive glimpse into another community and another culture." --A Different Light Review "The 14 compelling interviews... chronicle gay male experience prior to the dramatic events of the last two years." --On the Issues Jürgen Lemke's collection of interviews with East German homosexual men caused a sensation in the East, where it was hailed as "a milestone in the history of homosexual men in the GDR." Together they provide a penetrating view into the lives of gay men in Germany from the time of Hitler until the final year of the separate socialist state.

Fit at Mid-Life by Samantha Brennan,Tracy Isaacs Pdf

"[Fit at Mid-Life] reinforces the message that fitness can and should be for everyone, no matter their age, size, gender, or ability." ––SELF What if you could be fitter now than you were in your twenties? And what if you could achieve it while feeling more comfortable and confident in your body? In Fit at Mid-Life, bloggers and philosophy professors Samantha Brennan and Tracy Isaacs share the story of how they got the fittest they'd ever been by age 50––and how you can, too. Their approach to fitness is new and different—it champions strength, health, and personal accomplishment over weight loss and aesthetics––and explores the many challenges, questions, and issues women face when seeking fitness in their forties, fifties, and beyond. Drawing from the latest research, Brennan and Isaac deliver a wealth of concrete advice on everything from how to keep bones strong to what types of fitness activities give the biggest returns. Taking a feminist perspective, they also challenge society’s default whats, whys, and hows of every aspect of getting fit to show how women can best take charge of their health—no matter what their shape, size, age, or ability. "Fit at Mid-Life combines personal stories with scientific evidence, feminist reflections and how-to advice for both women and men who don’t want fitness to fade away in their middle years."––The Toronto Star

But when he is presented with a mysterious legacy, he is forced to revise his estimation of his own nature and place in the world.

Damn! by Rob Chirico Pdf

Swearing, cussing, or cursing, out of anger, excitement, or just because, is something most of us do, at least to some degree. Turn on the television or open a magazine, and there it is. Damn! is an insightful and entertaining look at our evolving use of profanity over the last half-century or so, from a time when Gone with the Wind came under fire for using the word "damn" to an age where the f-bomb is dropped in all walks of life. Writer and artist Rob Chirico follows the course of swearing through literature, the media, and music, as well as through our daily lives. From back rooms and barracks to bookshelves and Broadway; and from precedents to presidents, the journey includes such diverse notables as George Carlin, the Simpsons, D. H. Lawrence, Ice T, Barack Obama, Nietzsche, and, of course, Lenny Bruce. If you have ever stopped and wondered WTF has happened to our American tongue, don't get out the bar of soap until you finish Damn!

People and Things from the Cullman, Alabama Tribune 1914 - 1920 by Robin Sterling Pdf

By the turn of the 20th Century, Cullman was firmly established as the preeminent settlement in the hill country between the Tennessee Valley and the mineral region surrounding Birmingham. The Cullman Alabama Tribune continued to record news of the development of the city, county, and surrounding region. As with the first two books of this series, microfilm was obtained from the State Archives in Montgomery and a page by page examination of the newspaper was conducted and every birth, death, marriage, obituary, and news important to the history and development of Cullman County was recorded. This volume also contains rare first person accounts of the Civil War activities of George Martin Holcombe and Elijah Wilson Harper ("Killacranky"). This book is important to any genealogist or historian with connections to Cullman County and contains many rare accounts and mentions of the earliest settlers of the region.
