The Leader's Handbook A Christian's Guide to Strategic Leadership by Justin D. Loyd DSL Pdf

Leadership is never easy, and tomorrow's leaders will need to be the very best possible to deal with the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) realities they will awaken to every day. The COVID-19 pandemic has been called by some a black swan event--something extremely rare that only happens once and could not have been foreseen. Meteorology, however, tells us that those once-in-a-lifetime storms are beginning to happen once a decade as the historical patterns seem less relevant with each passing season. Similarly, leaders will need to be more strategic now than ever to deal with challenges ranging from diversity to AI to hybrid work environments. Their ability to synthesize their belief system, cultural experience, and worldview will be necessary as they operate in authenticity and humility at the head of their organizations and strive to leave a legacy and long-lasting impact. This book offers support to leaders of all seasons and experience levels. No matter where you are in your leadership journey, it can help you with the next step. With an emphasis on blending the science and art of leadership, it provides tools and techniques to help deal with the most difficult leadership challenges. Part coaching manual and part field manual, it combines case studies, philosophy, motivation, and step-by-step instruction in a clear and concise, easy-to-read book that you will reference repeatedly. Pulling examples off the front page of today's new normal while expounding on biblical stories to demonstrate real-world truths, it seeks to draw the leader into a deeper relationship with God and strengthen their call to leadership. This book is broken down into three sections: "The Past," "The Present," and "The Future." Each of which examines relevant topics on the leader's journey, enabling them to use it as a resource for a specific topic or to read it through for a holistic approach in their own journey. Today's Christian leader was put here on this earth for such a time as this, and this book seeks to provide strategic tools to help them be the leaders that change the world and usher in the kingdom of heaven.

The Leadership Jump by Jimmy Long Pdf

Leadership is changing. Not only are established leaders passing the baton to up-and-coming leaders, the very nature of leadership is being transformed. Veteran leader and cultural observer Jimmy Long has discerned how leadership positions and roles have changed in light of societal shifts. Authority is no longer derived from positional status but is earned from relational credibility. Leaders focus not only on tasks but on community. And leadership is less about directing followers to a particular destination, and more about empowering others on a shared journey. Existing leaders cannot write off emerging leaders because they work differently. Nor can younger leaders dismiss the contributions of those who have gone before. Here is a book that offers a positive vision for intergenerational partnership and leadership transference rather than competition. The practical tools outlined here will help existing and emerging leaders understand each others' leadership styles and collaborate fruitfully for the sake of the kingdom.

Leadership in Christian Perspective by Justin A. Irving,Mark L. Strauss Pdf

This book brings the best of leadership theory and research together with biblical reflection and examples of leadership in action to offer a practical guide to Christian leaders. Combining expertise in leadership studies and biblical studies, Justin Irving and Mark Strauss explore how leadership models have moved from autocratic and paternalistic leader-centered models toward an increased focus on followers. The authors show how contemporary theories such as transformational leadership, authentic leadership, and servant leadership take an important step toward prioritizing and empowering followers who work with leaders to accomplish organizational goals. Irving and Strauss organize their book around "nine empowering practices," making it accessible to students, church leaders, and business leaders. Integrating solid research in leadership studies with biblical and theological reflection on the leadership ideas that are most compatible with Christian faith, this book is an important resource for all Christian students of leadership.

The Praeger Handbook of Faith-Based Schools in the United States, K–12 by Thomas C. Hunt,James C. Carper Pdf

Exploring a subject that is as important as it is divisive, this two-volume work offers the first current, definitive work on the intricacies and issues relative to America's faith-based schools. The Praeger Handbook of Faith-Based Schools in the United States, K–12 is an indispensable study at a time when American education is increasingly considered through the lenses of race, ethnicity, gender, and social class. With contributions from an impressive array of experts, the two-volume work provides a historical overview of faith-based schooling in the United States, as well as a comprehensive treatment of each current faith-based school tradition in the nation. The first volume examines three types of faith-based schools—Protestant schools, Jewish schools, and Evangelical Protestant homeschooling. The second volume focuses on Catholic, Muslim, and Orthodox schools, and addresses critical issues common to faith-based schools, among them state and federal regulation and school choice, as well as ethnic, cultural, confessional, and practical factors. Perhaps most importantly for those concerned with the questions and controversies that abound in U.S. education, the handbook grapples with outcomes of faith-based schooling and with the choices parents face as they consider educational options for their children.

Preach the Word by Myles MacBean Pdf

How should we help equip the church leaders of Africa today? There remains a well-documented lack of theologically sound, Bible-centric preaching in Sub-Saharan Africa. The majority of sermons are preached by untrained (or undertrained) church leaders. Following a practical theology praxis, this book develops a conceptual framework for the evaluation of existing “alternative” approaches to “grassroots” preacher training. It also proposes broad principles for effective preacher training, and offers a practical solution. The 20th century had seen the Christian church in Africa grow 36 fold to 360 million. This amazing growth is arguably “the largest religious change in human history in such a short period.” It has shifted the focus of Christianity from North to South. This rapid growth is – debatably – considered by some missiologists and theologians to have resulted in an African church “a mile wide and an inch deep.” That is, a church of great size but lacking in spiritual depth. The rapid growth has led to insufficient numbers of trained leaders being available to oversee their congregations. Most leaders are unpaid. Untrained or undertrained leaders have an inadequate knowledge of scripture, and lack understanding of its interpretation. They also lack the skills they need to communicate its truths. Even so, they preach up to 90% of the sermons in rural Africa. Despite a tremendous hunger for training among many of those preachers, “traditional” college based theological education cannot keep up with the demand for trained pastors and preachers in an affordable or culturally appropriate manner.

Authentic Managerial Leadership by Robert A. Orr Pdf

Robert A. Orr lives a fulfilling life which began with his birth in Argentina, his boyhood and teenage years in Brazil, and his college education and pilot's training in Canada. He served as a trainer and pilot for seventeen years in Brazil and returned to Canada where he and his wife Adriana now live. With a passion, burden and commitment to address and meet the blatant need for authentic leadership and management training, Robert continues to teach and mentor Christian leaders and "leaders-in-the-making" around the world. Three of his objectives are: 1. Provide this resource material in many languages, 2. Make this resource tool widely available to Christian workers, missions, ministries and the Church, 3. Assist in meeting the crying need for a new, strong, youthful, motivated, energetic and visionary authentic managerial leadership characterized by godly principles and learned managerial skills. What a massive amount of research has gone into this very fine guide. I wish I could have had a copy of something like this 30 years ago! I trust that it is getting into the hands of a large number of leaders and managers in our Christian community who can certainly use the guidance and direction you supply. I was most pleased to note the number of times you quoted me and my writings in the manual. I'm complemented! I was pleased to note that it is being translated into other languages for leaders in other cultures. I trust that God will continue to use you and this type of training material to His glory for many years to come. (Dr. Ted W. Engstrom, President Emeritus, World Vision)

Championing Organization Wellness by Anthony L. Simmons DSL Captain USN (retired) Pdf

Championing Organizational Wellness leverages the hands-on experience of a proven leadership coach who models transforming aspiring leaders into first-rate leaders. In this book, a four-time at-sea commander shares his twenty-plus years of executive experience, leading across global expanses, to model how to connect leaders and aspiring leaders of disparate cultures and social backgrounds to move in lockstep to achieve optimal success. Dr. Anthony Simmons uses a coaching triangulation model consisting of ends-means-ways approach to move the coach (leader), coachee (aspiring leader), and organization to their zenith. Championing Organizational Wellness affords the blueprint for any leader anywhere to navigate blind spots to see through cultural differences and empower all groups through a coaching organization. Dr. Simmons used his nautical acumen as he developed and presents his model of organizational wellness called coaching triangulation. Triangulating is a means of determining location and "fixing" one's position. Dr. Simmons's coaching triangulation model presents a coaching platform that locates the client, assesses the culture, and helps the leader navigate blind spots. He uses coaching as a platform for connecting coach and organization members so both may share a common perspective and an expanded vision for optimal organizational performance. The book demonstrates a methodology of organizational development and organizational sustainment, which yields organizational wellness. Dr. Simmons uses personal stories to demonstrate application of coaching theory and practice. Truly a fascinating work suggesting organizational wellness is possible and presenting a means for achieving it! --Dr. Diane Wiater Dr. Anthony Simmons's invigorating work offers exceptional methodologies to help align coaching and leadership attributes. Based on his extensive military service including four at-sea commands and "leadership engagements and visits to sixty-three countries," Anthony's book offers practical insights to find true north using his coaching triangulation model. Drawing from extensive research, including a literature review and scriptural integration, Anthony's model "fosters a platform to facilitate organizational development and organizational sustainment as the aggregate of two realizes organizational wellness." Dr. Simmons's coaching triangulation model is comprehensive in structure and substance with proven viability by over twenty-five of his "understudies who attained positions as at-sea commanders." As we continue to maneuver turbulent times of uncertainty and organizational wellness vulnerabilities, Dr. Simmons's book offers far-reaching opportunities to close existing gaps between operational tensions. This is a "must read" for military and organizational leaders alike at the local, state, national and global levels. --Dr. Virginia Richardson
