The Success Formula by Andrew Kakabadse Pdf

What do successful organizations and smart leaders have in common? They deliver outstanding value to their stakeholders. Interviews with over 80 leading organizations in private, public and third sectors from all over the world have led Andrew Kakabadse to a fascinating insight: organizations where stakeholder engagement was highest were not those led by charismatic and visionary leaders, but by a culture of delivering outstanding value. Through his research, he found two different approaches at work. In strategy-led organizations, senior management has a clear notion of how value can be created and enacts a strategy to achieve it with the support of key managers and board members. Value-delivery-led organizations approach value creation differently. In these organizations, the leadership gathers evidence from internal and external stakeholders to determine the value the organization is delivering today and can deliver in the future. A strategy is then put in place to support those findings – and is deliberately exposed to challenges from stakeholders to create engagement. The Success Formula demonstrates how value-delivery-led organizations are outperforming their strategy-led counterparts and how the world's best organizations deliver value to their stakeholders, with examples drawn from Anglo American, Deutsche Bank, Citibank, Jaguar/Landrover, Microsoft, BMW and Alfa Bank. This authoritative guide shows leaders how to improve the way they gather meaningful evidence to create a value-delivery culture that maximizes the benefits for their organizations and stakeholders.

The Leadership Formula by Juan Sanchez Pdf

We have a leadership problem, and we all know it. When we look at our churches, we see two glaring problems: a lack of qualified leaders, and a general mistrust of leadership as a response to sinful leadership. But churches need leaders. What do we do? The answer is in The Leadership Formula. In the New Testament, qualified leaders are identified by character, conviction, care, and competency. When these four qualities are observed over time, the result is credibility. Pastor and author Juan Sanchez helps readers know what to look for in leaders, how to identify them, and how to commission them in the church, for the sake of the world.

ghSMART, the bestselling team behind Who: The A Method for Hiring, returns with a breakthrough formula for how the best leaders and teams deliver results. “ghSMART is the world’s top firm for helping leaders hire talented teams and run them at full power. Nothing is more important.”—Marshall Goldsmith, bestselling author of Mojo and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There “The most useful book about leadership.” That is what we hope you and your team will say after finishing Power Score. The idea has been battle-tested for more than two decades by leaders in every major industry. It works. Successful leadership starts with three key questions: 1. Priorities—Do we have the right priorities? (Only 24 percent of leaders do.) 2. Who—Do we have the right people on the team? (Only 14 percent of leaders do.) 3. Relationships—Do we have the right relationships that deliver results? (Only 47 percent of leaders do.) Learn how to calculate your team’s Power Score, and how to improve each of the three key areas of leadership. Learn what to do, and what not do, from compelling statistics and inspiring stories of those leaders who have succeeded and those who have failed. You may be surprised how easy it is to read this little book. And you may be even more surprised by how fast this approach will boost your team’s results. When you dial up your team’s Power Score, you will make a greater impact as a leader, help your team earn more money for your cause (whatever your cause may be), and enjoy greater career success. Effective Leadership Formula by Dr Skc Ogbonnia Pdf

Leadership is, first and foremost, a complex human endeavor and has existed since Adam and Eve. It manifests everywhere and in everyone. It is also interpreted in different ways by different people. Similarly, the path to effective leadership has led to divergent opinions, different theories, and approaches. Yet, a serious limitation on the study of leadership is lack of serious attention on the impact of culture. For instance, despite the scholarly distinction attained thus far by the Contingency Leadership Model, the contemporary leadership paradigm remains deeply influenced by a peculiar code of Western philosophy inspired by outdated theories or mundane misconception of classic theories. This book squarely addresses such limitations. The framework involved a comparative analysis of patterns of leadership in human societies, particularly the United States of America (USA) and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The choice of USA and Nigeria is instructive. Basic similarities exist between the two countries. Among them are abundant natural and human resources, British colonization, ethnic diversity, and presidential system of government, to name a few. However, even though the two countries are usually mentioned in opposite trajectory in terms of development, each of them has its share of leadership problems. On the one hand, even as the USA is generally viewed as a bastion for good leadership, the country is facing critical problems in breakdown in moral values, mounting crime rates, falling academic standards, job flights, increasing unemployment, reckless loss of lives through gun violence in American cities, vain wars, huge national debt, corporate greed and huge corporate losses and shutdowns. On the other hand, despite her abundant resources, Nigeria is beset with leadership crisis in all fronts. In this book, an attempt was made to utilize the fundamental principles of contingency leadership theory to identify the root of the problems. The main questions focused on why individuals, organizations, and nations are not able to provide effective leadership for an extended period. The study explored the ideal conditions for developing and sustaining effective leadership in different environments. It entailed analyzing relevant leadership models, diverse culture and peoples, and systems, and relating them to practical examples. Remarkably, the study critically evaluated the three common propositions in contemporary discussions of leadership, viz., Great Leader, Great Society, and Institutions. Thereafter, it examined common patterns between USA and Nigeria and similar societies on important aspects of human, national, and societal development. The method consisted of reviewing existing literature on the nature and processes of individual, organizational, and national leadership. It required interviewing leaders, holding focus groups, and analyzing innocent opinions from a diverse group of elites. The information from the different cases was organized into a cross-case comparative format, common patterns and themes. These patterns and themes are compared throughout the book with relative data from different nations, particularly the USA and Nigeria. In so doing, the study identified critical deficiencies of many influential theories. Finally, this book provokes a sturdy framework to explore novel approaches to leadership. Readers will be particularly interested in the stimulating findings from the critical analysis of the relationship between freedom, control, and leadership. Most strikingly, the Effective Leadership Formula is a rich stew of pragmatic proposals, including empirical definitions for effective leadership as well as effective democracy. Best of all, the book features a new leadership model for producing and sustaining effective leadership in any given environment.

The Formula by Albert-László Barabási Pdf

In the bestselling tradition of Malcom Gladwell, James Gleick, and Nate Silver, prominent professor László Barabási gives us a trailblazing book that promises to transform the very foundations of how our success-obsessed society approaches their professional careers, life pursuits and long-term goals. Too often, accomplishment does not equal success. We did the work but didn't get the promotion; we played hard but weren't recognized; we had the idea but didn't get the credit. We convince ourselves that talent combined with a strong work ethic is the key to getting ahead, but also realize that combination often fails to yield results, without any deeper understanding as to why. Recognizing this striking disconnect, the author, along with a team of renowned researchers and some of the most advanced data-crunching systems on the planet, dedicated themselves to one goal: uncovering that ever-elusive link between performance and success. Now, based on years of academic research, The Formula finally unveils the groundbreaking discoveries of their pioneering study, not only highlighting the scientific and mathematic principles that underpin success, but also revolutionizing our understanding of: Why performance is necessary but not adequate Why "Experts" are often wrong How to assemble a creative team primed for success How to most effectively engage our networks "This is not just an important but an imperative project: to approach the problem of randomness and success using the state of the art scientific arsenal we have. Barabasi is the person."-Nassim Nicholas Taleb, author of the New York Times bestselling The Black Swan and Distinguished Professor of Risk Engineering at NYU
