The Lost Chapter by Caroline Bishop Pdf

A timeless tale of female friendship and past secrets, set in modern-day small-town England and a 1950s finishing school in France—for readers of Joanna Goodman and Santa Montefiore. England, present day. At eighty years old, Florence Carter is content with her life. A widow in her twilight years, she spends her days making intricate lino prints in the company of her dog and cat, and her neighbour’s daughter Alice, a shy young woman troubled by a recent trauma. But when Flo learns that a long-lost friend has written a novel based on their time at finishing school, she’s forced to confront a secret from her past... France, 1957. In post-war Lyon, Florence and Lilli meet at a strict finishing school for girls. Florence—or Flo as she’s known—is a demure young Englishwoman who is expected to enter society and make a good marriage. Lilli, meanwhile, is a brash American with an independent spirit and thirst for adventure. Despite their differences, they forge a firm friendship that promises to last a lifetime—until a terrible betrayal tears them apart. Now, as Flo reads Lilli’s book, she struggles to separate fact from fiction. Desperate for answers, she decides to take a road trip to France to find Lilli, and she invites Alice and her mother Carla to join her, in hopes the change of scenery will lift their spirits. But when they reach Lyon, it’s Flo who needs help as the buried truth from long ago threatens to overwhelm her. The Lost Chapter is a poignant novel about the power of friendship and a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to start writing a different story.

The Lost Son by Jagdish Arora Pdf

Paula stared out of the window; her gaze fixed on nothing in particular. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, orange glow over the quiet neighbourhood. Five years had passed since the day her world had shattered into a million pieces, and yet the ache in her heart was as raw as ever. James had been just a little boy of eight, his laughter filling the air like a melody. He was her golden-haired boy, full of life and boundless energy. She could still remember the sound of his laughter, the way his small hand felt in hers as they walked to the park. But then, in the blink of an eye, he was gone.....

Trauma Texts by Gillian Whitlock,Kate Douglas Pdf

These chapters gathered from two special issues of the journal Life Writing take up a major theme of recent work in the Humanities: Trauma. Autobiography has had a major role to play in this ‘age of trauma’, and these essays turn to diverse contexts that have received little attention to date: partition narratives in India, Cambodian and Iranian rap, refugee letters from Nauru, graffiti in Tanzania, and the silent spaces of trauma in Chile and Guantanamo. The contexts and media of these autobiographical trauma texts are diverse, yet they are linked by attention to questions of who gets to speak/write/inscribe autobiographically and how and where and why, and how can silences in the wake of traumatic experiences be read. These essays deliberately set out to establish some new fields for research in trauma studies by reaching out to a broader global context, into various texts, media and artifacts, representing diverse histories with specific attention to different voices, bodies, memories and subjectivities. This collection addresses the contemporary circuits of trauma story, and the media and icons and narratives that carry trauma story to political effect and emotional affect. This book was previously published as two special issues of Life Writing.

Christian Identity by Chester L. Quarles Pdf

The Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Nations, and many ultra-right-wing racist "religious" organizations adhere to a doctrine called Christian Identity. Christian Identity is not a denomination, but a loosely organized movement embracing a range of beliefs. Its foundation is the theory that Anglo-Saxons (and Aryans, in most cases) are the true descendants of the Lost Tribes of Israel, and are the chosen people of God. Christian Identity is a bloodline religion: a belief system irrevocably tied to race. As such it lends itself to the violence, racism, and anti-Semitism of its more militant practitioners, and its growth and links to domestic terrorism warrant a better understanding of the movement. This survey of the Christian Identity Movement traces its development and beliefs, from its origins to its modern manifestations. It examines the doctrines and visions of the future of Identity communities and organizations in America. The initial chapter explores British Israelism, forerunner of most bloodline Identity groups; the oral traditions behind the movement are reviewed in the second. The third chapter outlines the American Israel, Israel Identity and bloodline Identity movements, including major figures and groups. The following chapters provide an introduction to Christian Identity itself, its general religious tenets, and post-Creation beliefs upon which much of the theory is based. Subsequent chapters describe militant bloodline and Identity groups, and individual militant Identity leaders. The final chapter explores the "Third American Revolution" predicted by these groups, a forthcoming war based on race and religion.

Addiction—God’S Healing by Duly Noted Pdf

I was just your run-of-the-mill alcoholic who God saw fit to rescue! For close to forty years, I struggled with addiction, and as time went on, it always got worse quicker and got more intense after any period of clean time. It was not until this unprofessional writer put God like I never had him before in my life and also after a proven twelve-step program that I was able to get and stay soberone day at a time. I was bankrupt in all waysfinancially, emotionally, mentally (at times I couldnt remember my name), and almost spiritually. I turned a perfectly good life into a perfect messby choice. Why? I ended up at a few homeless shelters. Family and friends were asking (begging) me to get out of my hometown, Buffalo, New York, because I was going to die as the whole city turned into a people, places, and things place that people are warned about in recovery. Today I tell God, people at recovery meetings, family, and friends, I have the best life of anybody I know, and I believe it! God gets and deserves all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise that my family and friends give to me. God blessed me with one grandchild (daughter) and another one on the way. At recovery meetings, they say, Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. That is so true! According to Matthew 6:33, Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added onto you. Thank you! God bless you! Glenn
