Behind the Man Behind the Badge by Bev Brannon Pdf

"Behind the Man Behind the Badge" is a collection of short stories recounting what I did as the wife of a Special Agent in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Or, as the world knows it today---NCIS. A special agent's job is not only very demanding but at times the cases are extremely sensitive and secretive. So, as a wife living in this environment, I had to find my own way in each new country where we were assigned. Since, NCIS is attached to various military offices in each country, many of the stories involve activities with both American and foreign military personnel. I also explain how I had to adjust to military life as a civilian, one who had never been exposed to military life before. When my husband retired and we finally returned to the United States, friends and relatives would listen to my husband's intriguing tales of adventure. Then invariably they would turn to me and say, "And what did you do?" Occasionally, I would have the chance to tell one of my favorite stories. But before long they were eagerly asking my husband to tell them another story of intrigue. My own tales of intrigue, though none of them are super-secret types, cover---The Week I Went to War, To Sir With Love, My Nights in the Brothel, One for the Grinch, Modern Conveniences, Titillating Tidbits---just to name a few. The stories are written with subtle humor, compassion, and honesty, and relate my adventures of living in foreign countries. So, now, this is my way of telling what it was really like, "Behind the Man Behind the Badge."

Yahshua, the Man Behind the Glory by Jarid Miller Pdf

Yahshua is known most by another name, Jesus. This is not His name. Widely known by Jesus, yet least known as Yahshua. This eye-opening book breaks the TRADITIONS set by most Churches today. Traditions like: He was born Dec, 25th; there were only three wise men who visited a baby in a manger; He was in Nazareth working as a carpenter for the missing 18 years of His life; His disciples were older men; there were only two criminals crucified beside Him, etc. More of this and much more is found in the pages of this shocking but turthful book on Yahshua and His times.

S Chandrasekhar: The Man Behind the Legend by Kameshwar C Wali Pdf

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar — known simply as Chandra throughout the scientific world — has become a legendary figure for his prolific contributions to physics, astrophysics, and applied mathematics. Before his death in 1995, Chandra had forbidden a memorial of the conventional sort, celebrating his life. This book, which contains some thirty articles by his former students, his associates, and his colleagues, is in a sense a memorial volume. It says little about Chandra's great scientific achievements, but shows his human side and the various facets of his brilliant personality, his incredible memory, his wit, and the breadth of his knowledge of art, music, literature, and the humanities in general. The contributors to this highly interesting book are among the few who broke the seemingly forbidden barrier surrounding the very private Chandra and came to know him well in one context or another. They include Lalitha Chandrasekhar, Roger Penrose, Richard H Dalitz, J W Cronin, Robert G Sachs, Abhay Ashtekar, and Robert Wald. Contents:“My Everlasting Flame” (L Chandrasekhar)S Chandrasekhar: A Personal Portrait (A Ashtekar)Exploring General Relativity with Chandra (V Ferrari)Chandrasekhar and the End of Time (R Penrose)Some Memories of Chandra (R M Wald)Chandra in Focus (S Kumar)Reminiscences of Chandra (J W Cronin)Some Personal Recollections of S Chandrasekhar at Chicago and Oxford (R H Dalitz)A Towering Figure: Reminiscences and Reflections (L Mestel)Reminiscences About Chandra (R G Sachs)and other papers Readership: General. Reviews:“Not a biography, this, but an album of verbal portraits of an austere, proud, cultured and deeply humane astrophysicist.”New Scientist “The present effort is a fine one, and I recommend the book with enthusiasm.”Physics World

The Man Behind the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by William H. Martin,Sandra Mason Pdf

Its lines and verses have become part of the western literary canon and his translation of this most famous of poems has been continuously in print in for almost a century and a half. But just who was Edward FitzGerald? Was he the eccentric recluse that most scholars would have us believe? Is there more to the man than just his famous translation? In The Man Behind the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam William Martin and Sandra Martin go beyond the standard view. Drawing on their unique analysis of the more than 2,000 surviving letters of FitzGerald, together with evidence from his scrapbooks, commonplace books and materials from his personal library, they reveal a more convivial yet complex personality than we have been led to suppose."

John Keats - The Man Behind The Lyrics: Life, letters, and literary remains by John Keats Pdf

This carefully crafted ebook: "John Keats - The Man Behind The Lyrics: Life, letters, and literary remains" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. John Keats (1795-1821) was an English Romantic poet. The poetry of Keats is characterized by sensual imagery, most notably in the series of odes. Today his poems and letters are some of the most popular and most analyzed in English literature. During the 19th century, critics deemed them unworthy of attention, distractions from his poetic works. During the 20th century they became almost as admired and studied as his poetry, and are highly regarded within the canon of English literary correspondence. T. S. Eliot described them as "certainly the most notable and most important ever written by any English poet." Keats spent a great deal of time considering poetry itself, its constructs and impacts, displaying a deep interest unusual amongst his milieu who were more easily distracted by metaphysics or politics, fashions or science. Table of Contents: Biographies: Life of John Keats by Sidney Colvin Life, letters, and literary remains, of John Ketas by Richard Monckton Milnes Complete Letters: To Messrs, Taylor and Hessey To Jane Reynolds To Charles Wentworth Dilke To Joseph Severn To John Taylor To Benjamin Robert Haydon To Benjamin Bailey To John Hamilton Reynolds To George and Thomas Keats To Fanny Keats To James Rice To Leigh Hunt To Richard Woodhouse To Thomas Keats To James Elmes To Mrs. Brawne To Charles Cowden Clarke To George and Georgiana Keats To Percy Bysshe Shelley To Mrs. Reynolds To Georgiana Keats To Mariane and Jane Reynolds To Mrs. Wylie To Charles Brown...
