The Historical Novels of Mark Twain by Mark Twain Pdf

The Prince and the Pauper is a novel by Mark Twain first published in 1881 in Canada, before its 1882 publication in the United States. Set in 1547, it tells the story of two young boys who are identical in appearance: Tom Canty, a pauper who lives with his abusive father in Offal Court off Pudding Lane in London, and Prince Edward, son of King Henry VIII. A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is an 1889 novel by Mark Twain, originally published in book form in 1896. The novel is a satirical comedy that looks at 6th-Century England and its medieval culture through the eyes of Hank Morgan, a 19th-century resident of Hartford, Connecticut, who, after a blow to the head, awakens to find himself inexplicably transported back in time to early medieval England at the time of the legendary King Arthur. Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, published in 1896, is the remarkable story of the saint's life as told by the fictional Sieur Louis de Conté, Joan's page and secretary, in the form of a memoir written in the twilight of life. The character has had the privilege of growing up with Joan of Arc, accompanying her during the excitement and pageantry of her military campaigns, and being present at each of her three trials. Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835 – 1910), better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American author and humorist. He wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), the latter often called "the Great American Novel."

Louisa May Alcott: Little Women, Little Men & Jo's Boys (Illustrated Edition) by Louisa May Alcott Pdf

Little Women and Good Wives, published in 1868 and 1869 respectively, is a story following the four March sisters and their friend Theodore "Laurie" Lawrence in Massachusetts in the 1800's. The four girls each exhibit individual flaws and much of the plot is concerned with their journey to correct themselves, always supporting each other in the end despite their numerous squabbles. Margaret "Meg" March is the eldest sister and at the beginning of the tale is very preoccupied with materialistic possessions, Josephine "Jo" March is a tomboy with a fiery temper, Elizabeth "Beth" March is shy and gentle and Amy, being the youngest March sister, is spoilt and therefore prone to temper tantrums. Little Women follows the sisters for about a year, but Good Wives skips forward in time regularly so that by the end they are all of adult age. Little Men, or Life at Plumfield with Jo's Boys is a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott, first published in 1871. Little Men follows the adventures of Jo March and her husband Professor Bhaer as they try to make their school for boys a happy, comfortable, and stimulating place. Jo's Boys was first published in 1886. The novel is the final book in the unofficial Little Women series. In it, Jo's "children," now grown, are caught up in real world troubles. Louisa May Alcott (1832 – 1888) was an American novelist best known as author of the novel Little Women and its sequels Little Men and Jo's Boys.

Biblical Theology by Geerhardus Vos Pdf

The aim of this book is no less than to provide an account of the unfolding of the mind of God in history, through the successive agents of his special revelation. Vos handles this under three main divisions: the Mosaic epoch of revelation, the prophetic epoch of revelation, and the New Testament. Such an historical approach is not meant to supplant the work of the systematic theologian; nevertheless, the Christian gospel is inextricably bound up with history, and the biblical theologian thus seeks to highlight uniqueness of each biblical document in that succession. The rich variety of Scripture is discovered anew as the progressive development of biblical themes is explicated. To read these pages--the fruit of Vos' 39 years of teaching biblical theology at Princeton - is to appreciate the late John Murray's suggestion that Geerhardus Vos was the most incisive exegete in the English-speaking world of the twentieth century.
