The Phantom Tree by Nicola Cornick Pdf

Browsing an antiques shop in Wiltshire, Alison Bannister stumbles across a delicate old portrait—identified as the doomed Tudor queen, Anne Boleyn. Except Alison knows better. The subject is Mary Seymour, the daughter of Katherine Parr, who was taken to Wolf Hall in 1557 and presumed dead after going missing as a child. And Alison knows this because she, too, lived at Wolf Hall and knew Mary...more than four hundred years ago. The painting of Mary is more than just a beautiful object for Alison—it holds the key to her past life, the unlocking of the mystery surrounding Mary’s disappearance and how Alison can get back to her own time. To when she and Mary were childhood enemies yet shared a pact that now, finally, must be fulfilled, no matter the cost. Bestselling author of House of Shadows Nicola Cornick offers a provocative alternate history of rivals, secrets and danger, set in a time when a woman’s destiny was determined by the politics of men and luck of birth. A spellbinding tale for fans of Kate Morton, Philippa Gregory and Barbara Erskine.

The Phantom of Witch's Tree by Mark Lunde Pdf

October 1912 Deputy Matt Hargreaves is assigned to serve a warrant miles from home, but a simple mission soon goes tragically wrong, and a father and child lay dead. Consumed with guilt, Hargreaves flees from the carnage and begins a downward spiral leading to gut-wrenching hallucinations and a strange passage through an alternate reality. At the same time, Jody Simms is transporting a prisoner. As they pass through an abandoned mining site with a grim history, Simms spills a sick fantasy to his prisoner before realizing his now-revealed secret could destroy him. There’s only one answer to his dilemma: a loaded pistol in a box under the seat. Not far away, a train is crossing the badlands. Among the passengers is Rachel Adler, a stubborn young woman who has spent her childhood in an insane asylum. Now, she has fled Montreal high society and is determined to see the Old West. Her precognitive mother has warned Rachel that a demonic force awaits her in the wilderness, and Rachel’s rail journey will soon lead her to a devil of a man with a plan of his own. So begins The Phantom of Witch’s Tree, a novel that shatters all the shoot-’em-up conventions of the traditional western as it shifts seamlessly between dark fantasy, horror and the supernatural, unleashing a wild ride through an Old West never before experienced.

Indrajal Comics 61 - 75 The Phantom by Lee Falk Pdf

Indrajal Comics began publishing self-titled monthly issues in March 1964. Each of the first 10 issues had 16 pages of Phantom comics. The stories had to be edited to fit this short format. The remaining 12 pages were dedicated to other content, similar to Gold Key's style. In the next 19 issues it became 20-24 pages. As the series continued, different characters would share the spotlight. Characters such as Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, Bahadur, Kerry Drake, Rip Kirby, Garth, Mike Nomad and Buz Sawyer appeared - as well as Disney characters Robin Hood and Mickey Mouse along with Goofy, but the majority of the series spotlighted The Phantom. So much so that the series is often erroneously referred to as "The Phantom" instead of the correct "Indrajal Comics". In due course the publication became fortnightly and then weekly by 1981. The numbering of books which was simply sequential in the beginning then changed to have the typical volume and a number. Indrajal Comics #444 was labeled as Vol.20 and No.1. The front cover design changed with distinct banner containing the title "Indrajal Comics" with a small circle showing the face of the main charracter. A total of 803 Indrajal Comics were published, excluding #123 and #124 which were not printed due to industrial strike action. More than half of these issues contained Phantom stories. The publishing stopped in 1990. The cover artwork for the first 50 or so issues of Indrajal Comics was done by B.Govind, with the back cover featuring a pin-up poster. His artwork became very popular and even said to have matched the artwork on the covers of international phantom publications such as Gold key or Frew. To avoid confusion among Indian readers, there were some minor changes done to the name of the Phantom's location and some characters in stories published in Indrajal Comics. The term " Bengali" or "Bengalla" or "Bengal" was changed to "Denkali" and in some issues "Dangalla" as well. This was since there is a state called "Bengal" in India and this may lead the readers to wonder about the "Pygmy" people that don't exist in Bengal. The name of the "Singh Brotherhood" was changed to "Singa Brotherhood" and the killer of the father of the current (21st) Phantom was changed from "Rama" to "Ramalu" although the latter too is one of the common names in India. Apart from English, Indrajal Comics published the stories in at least a dozen other Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Kannada. Contents: 61 The Story of Hero (Part 1 & 2) 62 The Lost City 62 The Pearl Raiders 63 The Big Fight 64 Diana's Deadly Tour 65 The Jade Palace (Golden Sands of Keela-Wee) 65 The Casino Gangsters 67 The Sea God 69 The Hunters 71 The Mysterious Ruins 73 The Hairy Monsters 74 The Curse of Lago 75 Wambesi ki Pukar (Call of the Wambesi) This collection was only possible thanks to all the comic fans around the world! Please note that these are scans of old comic books & as such will show wear & tear with age, most fans feel this only adds to the experience but if you are looking for perfect copies unfortunately they do not exist, we believe this is the best available.

The Phantom Vietnam War by David R. Honodel Pdf

David R. “Buff” Honodel was a cocky young man with an inflated self-image when he arrived in 1969 at his base in Udorn, Thailand. His war was not in Vietnam; it was a secret one in the skies of a neighboring country almost unknown in America, attacking the Ho Chi Minh Trail that fed soldiers and supplies from North Vietnam into the South. Stateside he learned the art of flying the F-4, but in combat, the bomb-loaded fighter handled differently, targets shot back, and people suffered. Inert training ordnance was replaced by lethal weapons. In the air, a routine day mission turned into an unexpected duel with a deadly adversary. Complacency during a long night mission escorting a gunship almost led to death. A best friend died just before New Year’s. A RF-4 crashed into the base late in Buff’s tour of duty. The reader will experience Buff’s war from the cockpit of a supersonic F-4D Phantom II, doing 5-G pullouts after dropping six 500-pound bombs on trucks hidden beneath triple jungle canopy. These were well defended by a skillful, elusive, determined enemy firing back with 37mm anti-aircraft fire and tracers in the sky. The man who left the States was a naïve, self-centered young pilot. The man who came back 137 missions later was much different.

A Guide to the Phantom Dark Age by Emmet Scott Pdf

Scott confronts conventional historians and looks at the evidence, archaeological and textual, for the proposition that three centuries, roughly between 615 and 915, never existed and are "phantom" years. The author shows in detail how no archaeology exists for these three centuries, and that the material remains of the seventh century closely resemble those of the tenth, and lie directly beneath them. This is the first book on this topic in the English language, though Heribert Illig's books on the same topic, 'Das erfundene Mittelalter' and 'Wer hat an der Uhr Gedreht?' have been best sellers in German-speaking Europe.

The Long, Long Life of Trees by Fiona Stafford Pdf

A lyrical tribute to the diversity of trees, their physical beauty, their special characteristics and uses, and their ever-evolving meanings Since the beginnings of history trees have served humankind in countless useful ways, but our relationship with trees has many dimensions beyond mere practicality. Trees are so entwined with human experience that diverse species have inspired their own stories, myths, songs, poems, paintings, and spiritual meanings. Some have achieved status as religious, cultural, or national symbols. In this beautifully illustrated volume Fiona Stafford offers intimate, detailed explorations of seventeen common trees, from ash and apple to pine, oak, cypress, and willow. The author also pays homage to particular trees, such as the fabled Ankerwyke Yew, under which Henry VIII courted Anne Boleyn, and the spectacular cherry trees of Washington, D.C. Stafford discusses practical uses of wood past and present, tree diseases and environmental threats, and trees’ potential contributions toward slowing global climate change. Brimming with unusual topics and intriguing facts, this book celebrates trees and their long, long lives as our inspiring and beloved natural companions.

The Flight - The Phantom - Tamanrasset by Simon Weipert Pdf

Three women, three short stories, three voyages into the unknown: Catherine, a young physicist, is one of the first people to set foot on Mars. In the remoteness of space, she and the rest of the crew are soon caught in a life-threatening situation. Daniela, a teenage dropout, is found unconscious in the forest. Could she possibly be involved in a series of crimes? Susanne, a philosophy student, gets lost in the Sahara along with her expedition team. She witnesses unexplainable events, during which one team member after the other disappears without a trace. Simon Weipert’s short stories are expeditions into unexplored terrain in both a literal and a figurative sense. They are not only thrilling adventure stories in which the reader follows the heroines into fascinating and dangerous landscapes, but also voyages into the characters’ souls. For all three women, their adventure means a profound change in their lives, and in the face of danger all of them are suddenly confronted with emotional conflicts, such as the end of a relationship, a career crisis, or doubts about religion. In a clear and precise language, the author combines three extraordinary adventures which ponder life’s deepest questions.
