The Cost of Disobedience by Keisha Dream Pdf

The Cost of Disobedience, is designed to give us an understanding about how God feels about his instructions, and how important it is for us to obey them. However, this topic is a sensitive subject to talk about, and is directed to every human being, especially those who believe and has a relationship with the Lord Almighty. This subject is sensitive because we can't blame or look to anybody but ourselves in regards to our choices. No one can obey God for us, it is something we have to do deal with individually. It is also the very thing that we can hide from other's and appear as if we are pleasing God completely. None of us want to hear that we are being disobedient to anything, and or anybody especially God. However, obeying God is something we need to hear and be reminded to do, since disobedience appears as a silent blessing stealer; and is the core reason why so many of us have not received our promises, even though we are doing a lot of things God has instructed us to do as believers. Remember obedience is better than sacrifice. This book is not designed to condemn us but to give us knowledge about God, and truth about the consequences of our disobedience towards God. God wants us to walk away after reading this book with a strong desire and drive to obey him, so we can receive everything he has promised. God said if we love him, then we should follow his commands. So obeying God is even an act of worship and reverence to God. It shows God, and proves to ourselves that we truly love him. God wants us to always know that he loves us, he is our father, and anything he ask of us is for our benefit. God not only instructs us, but he helps us, we don't have to do it alone, and apart frm God we won't beable to obey him, and be the person he has designed us to be.

Disobey by Frederic Gros Pdf

Exploring the philosophy of disobedience The world is out of joint, so much so that disobeying should be an urgent question for everyone. In this provocative essay, Frédéric Gros explores the roots of political obedience. Social conformity, economic subjection, respect for authorities, constitutional consensus? Examining the various styles of obedience provides tools to study, invent and induce new forms of civic disobedience and lyrical protest. Nothing can be taken for granted: neither supposed certainties nor social conventions, economic injustice or moral conviction. Thinking philosophically requires us never to accept truths and generalities that seem obvious. It restores a sense of political responsibility. At a time when the decisions of experts are presented as the result of icy statistics and anonymous calculations, disobeying becomes an assertion of humanity. To philosophize is to disobey. This book is a call for critical democracy and ethical resistance.

The Price of Disobedience by Eric Grove Pdf

"Naval scholar Eric Grove reassesses the first British naval encounter of World War II - the Battle of the River Plate. In late 1939, a force from the Royal Navy engaged the German battleship Graf Spee, which had been raiding commercial shipping in the southwest Atlantic. Though the Graf Spee was outnumbered, it inflicted serious damage to the British ships before taking refuge in the harbor at Montivideo, Uruguay. Four days later her commander, assuming a much superior force waited for him, scuttled his ship and then committed suicide. This controversial story of risk and naval strategy has been told before, but Grove has unearthed previously unpublished sources to provide a definitive account of the battle and throw new light on the motivation of the Graf Spee's captain. A thought-provoking book, it will attract naval historians and others with an interest in World War II."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Intelligent Disobedience by Ira Chaleff Pdf

Torture in Abu Ghraib prison. Corporate fraud. Falsified records at Veterans Administration hospitals. Teachers pressured to feed test answers to students. These scandals could have been prevented if, early on, people had said no to their higher-ups. Ira Chaleff discusses when and how to disobey inappropriate orders, reduce unacceptable risk, and find better ways to achieve legitimate goals. He delves into the psychological dynamics of obedience, drawing in particular on what Stanley Milgram's seminal Yale experiments-in which volunteers were induced to administer shocks to innocent people-teach us about how to reduce compliance with harmful orders. Using vivid examples of historical events and everyday situations, he offers advice on judging whether intelligent disobedience is called for, how to express opposition, and how to create a culture where citizens are educated and encouraged to think about whether orders make sense. --

At the Cross by Richard H. Allen Pdf

In volume two of At the Cross, Richard Allen focuses on the sanctification that follows a believer’s initial commitment to Christ. The cross of Christ represents the spiritual, physical, and metaphoric reasons for our existence. At the Cross is a line-by-line examination of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John as these apostles describe events from the Garden of Gethsemane to the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. This bookis written for both new and seasoned believers so they may find direction for, and discover the ramifications of, that commitment. At the Cross is also written for nonbelievers so they can see why believers, from the martyrdom of Christ to the most recent Chinese Christian jailed and tortured for his faith, would forfeit their lives and liberty rather than deny their Savior.

Sharp's Dictionary of Power and Struggle by Gene Sharp Pdf

From the 494 B.C. plebeians' march out of Rome to gain improved status, to Gandhi's nonviolent campaigns in India, to the liberation of Poland and the Baltic nations, and the revolutions in North Africa, nonviolent struggles have played pivotal roles in world events for centuries. Sharp's Dictionary of Power and Struggle is a groundbreaking reference work on this topic by the "godfather of nonviolent resistance." In nearly 1,000 entries, the Dictionary defines those ideologies, political systems, strategies, methods, and concepts that form the core of nonviolent action as it has occurred throughout history and across the globe, providing much-needed clarification of language that is often mired in confusion. Entries discuss everything from militarization to censorship, guerrilla theater, pacifism, secret agents, and protest songs. In addition, the dictionary features a foreword by Sir Adam Roberts, President of the British Academy; an introduction by Gene Sharp; an essay on power and realism; case studies of conflicts in Serbia and Tunisia; and a guide for further reading. Sharp's Dictionary of Power and Struggle is an invaluable resource for activists, educators and anyone else curious about nonviolent alternatives to both passivity and violent conflict. "Gene Sharp is perhaps the most influential proponent of nonviolent action alive."--The Progressive "Sharp has had broad influence on international events over the past two decades, helping to advance a global democratic awakening."--The Wall Street Journal "[Sharp's] work has served as the template for taking on authoritarian regimes from Burma to Belgrade."--The Christian Science Monitor

The Joy and Glory of Obedience by Lily Appleby Pdf

This book is not filled with any new ideas or concepts. It is, simply put, a small spotlight shining on an ancient truth. This was written by a homemaker, not a theologian or famous preacher—an ordinary person who found an intimate relationship with the Trinity and deep peaceful joy in all circumstances through obedience. The everyday life examples are simple, homey, and easily understood. Based on the scripture, they weave a thread from Genesis to Revelation. This book doesn’t give easy formulas or sugarcoat the difficulties but shows that obedience is possible with God’s indwelling presence, bringing great peace, blessing, and glory. Truly embracing obedience has the power to transform your life and potentially the world you live in. Jesus embraced it and changed the history of mankind! Why not take this step toward personal transformation? This could be your new beginning.
