The fugitives are here reclaimed - the nameless ones re-chris tened and several, which now make their first appearance in print, are added as worthy of a place with their associates. He has no explanation or apology to offer for presenting them to the public in their present form. They have generally been penned in the hours of relaxation from severer duties, and if they shall be found worthy of preservation, the author will of course be gratified, -it' otherwise, he will be content.
