The Science of Dry Fly Fishing and Salmon Fly Fishing by Fred; G. Shaw Pdf

Excerpt from The Science of Dry Fly Fishing and Salmon Fly Fishing It had been my intention to issue the second edition of this book in its original form, and to write a new work entitled "The Science of Salmon Fishing"; but finding that the "Science of Dry Fly Fishing" could with great advantage be revised, and that this revision would make it practically a new work, I determined, on the advice of a literary friend, to rewrite the whole of the trout fishing section, and to add to it the subject-matter which I had proposed to form into a new book. This consists, in the first place, in the life-history of the salmon, from the time it is deposited as ova by the parent fish in the redd until it attains its fullgrown state. I have ventured, when dealing with this interesting matter, to introduce some original theories as regards those questions which are still a subject of controversy. In the second place, I have dealt with the different methods of casting, and by plates and diagrams have endeavoured to show the various casts for presenting the lure to the salmon, and explained the methods to be adopted when actually fishing. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday Pdf

An extraordinary, beguiling bestselling tale of fly-fishing and political spinning, of unexpected heroism and late-blooming love... This is the story of Dr Alfred Jones, a fisheries scientist - for whom diary-notable events include the acquisition of a new electric toothbrush and getting his article on caddis fly larvae published in 'Trout and Salmon' - who finds himself reluctantly involved in a project to bring salmon fishing to the Highlands of the Yemen - a project that will change his life, and the course of British political history for ever. With a wickedly wonderful cast of characters - including a visionary Sheikh, a weasely spin doctor, Fred's devilish wife and a few thousand transplanted salmon - SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN is a novel about hypocrisy and bureaucracy, dreams and deniability, and the transforming power of faith and love.

Island Salmon Fisherman by Robert H. Jones,Larry E. Stefanyk Pdf

Vancouver Island offers the finest salmon fishing found anywhere in the world. Some destinations are easily accessible, while others are in remote wilderness settings. This informative book reveals where they are, when to go, and how to fish once you arrive. In writing this book, experienced saltwater anglers Larry Stefanyk and Robert Jones tapped the expertise of over fifty professional fishing guides, resort operators, lure manufacturers and local highliners to compile the kind of knowledge that is usually gained only through years of on-the-water experience. The greatest strength of Island Salmon Fisherman is that in addition to the latest in fishing techniques, it offers insider knowledge where the fish are to be found. In all, it documents 826 hotspots and important locations--each accompanied by GPS coordinates for easy reference on a marine chart or GPS device. Coverage runs down the west coast from Quatsino Sound, Kyuquot Sound, Zeballos, Nootka Sound, Clayoquot Sound, Ucluelet, Alberni Inlet, Bamfield, Port Renfrew, Sooke, to Victoria. East coast coverage includes waters around Port Hardy, Telegraph Cove and Blackfish Sound, Sayward, Campbell River, Heriot Bay, Comox Valley, Qualicum, Parksville, Schooner Cove to Nanaimo, the Gulf Islands and Sidney. Each destination is covered in thorough detail, all lavishly supported with pictures, illustrations and maps.
