The Second One Thousand Years by Richard John Neuhaus Pdf

The story of the last millennium is, in largest part, the story of the rise of the Christian West. This fascinating book, assembled by the editors of the journal First Things, explores the religious and social development of the West during the past one thousand years by looking at ten people who defined the millennium. Written by a team of renowned scholars, the book treats the second millennium century by century, choosing one historical figure as the prism through which to view each period. While the individuals chosen are not necessarily "representative" figures--in some instances they are people who opposed the "spirit of the times"--the compelling personalities limned in these chapters help us to understand better where we have come so far. Insightful, authoritative, and a pleasure to read, these narratives not only open intriguing windows on key dimensions of the Christian West but also provide a panoramic view from which to comprehend all of modern history--a view well worth pondering as we begin the third one thousand years.

One Thousand Years with Jesus by Matthew Bryce Ervin Pdf

The time is coming when the world will be radically changed for the better. It will last for a thousand years, bookended by resurrections, first of the just and then of the unjust. Satan will be chained in the abyss, no longer free to influence the nations. The saints will reign alongside the King of kings, Jesus Christ. This is a time that will begin after the return of the Messiah and end with Satan's total defeat and the judgment of sinners. It is the very culmination of history, a transition away from the fallen world into the perfection of the eternal state. This is a time known as the Millennium and the Messianic Kingdom. An understanding of this critical age makes the Bible come together as one metanarrative. It helps tell the story of the Scriptures.

Understanding Christian Religion Correctly by Setyawan Halim Pdf

This book discusses the fundamental principles of Christianity that all Christians must know but the fact is that almost all Christians (as well as Bible scholars) around the world do not know or do not understand what the Bible says with true and then causing doctrinal failures and deviating from actual teachings. Everything written in the NT must be based on the OT without conflict, not upside down. Therefore, the OT and the NT must be in harmony without conflict or confusion. The NT teaches the same with the OT to love also to love your enemies, abundant forgiveness, not revenge or vengeance, the OT also teaches unconditional love (agape) same with the NT, and all the teachings in the NT are actually the OT teachings. Because in fact, the OT and the NT tell the same principle without conflict. Truly, modern Christian doctrine commonly today is not fully the same as the teaching of the twelve apostles of Christ Jesus in the 1 century AD. This book discusses (to obtain) in an easy-to-understand way, what the apostles of Christ actually teach in the first century AD, as well as every reader (newbie or scholar) can understand what the Bible says with true. By reading this book the readers can understand that the Bible is the word of God which are amazing than any written work. The discussion of this book is able to guide the reader's mind to God's real purpose. All of us today know that there are many different teaching or doctrine of churches but, ALL DISCUSSIONS in this book are based on ancient Jewish and Christian documents, especially until the 2nd century AD, that the OT teaching is the same as the NT without any clashing and deserves consideration by Christian scholars! Below is a glance at this book: 1. There is a lot of evidence from ancient Jewish documents explaining who is the Jewish Messiah in the OT. 2. This book also explains clearly that Rom 5:15 is actually the law of soul for soul in Exod 21:24. Without the law of soul for soul, there is no redemption of sins by Christ. 3. Amazing for about the law "should be cut off" as in Exod 12:19, which seems harsh and as if God is easy to punish but in fact is very generous, long-suffering, merciful. Contrary to what Christians mean today. 4. Ancient Jewish teach that the Temple in Jerusalem are human bodies and were written by the apostle Paul in the NT, one example is 1 Cor 6:19-20. 5. Explaining the concept of the trinity in the understanding of the 1st and 2nd century AD churches. The trinity verses in the NT that do not appear in the OT, such as John 1:1, Col 1:15, etc. are actually based on the OT and were teach by ancient Jewish a long time before the 1st century AD. 6. Wars in the OT as evidence of God's love to restore the destruction because of sin, and it is based on Exod 21:24. The war still continues until the end of the world and all humans from all generations are involved, no one excluded. 7. Clearly that the law of soul for soul, eye for eye, tooth for tooth as written in the book of Moses is not scary, harsh, or without love. On the contrary, it proves wonderful love. This law is the NT teaching also included in Luke 6:27 to love your enemies. 8. Based on the church document in the 1st or 2nd century AD, this book explains NT passages that are difficult to understand, such as Rom 3:20 and Rom 7:6 that it is as if Christians no longer need to keep the law. Rom 2:13 are saved by keeping the law while Rom 3:20 are not saved by keeping the law? Also explains Eph 2:15 (it seems contrary to Matthew 5:17-18) based on the letter of Barnabas in the 2nd century AD describes Eph 2 is the teaching in the OT to keep the law of Moses, but (maybe) different from what the Christian church teaches today. 9. Based on the church documents in the 1st or 2nd century AD, this book also explains Col 2:16 and Rom 14 about food and drink and certain days, such as the Sabbath, and all of them are the OT teachings. Many more...

The Sola Scriptura Challenge by Brian E. Barnes Pdf

Before it was written there were a wide variety of views about the end of time held across different Jewish movements. Historically there have been four main methods of interpretation in both Judaism and Christianity, of which we see all on display in the New Testament. The controversy around interpretation of prophecy existed in the days of Jesus, led some to reject Christ, was not resolved by the Protestant Reformers, and still divides our churches today. This book looks at how we got here and proposes a way we should all move forward together. Using only the Scriptures, the sola scriptura approach challenges us to understand what the original audience of the letter from John would have understood. By identifying singularities and parallels within the book, built from years of research and verse-by-verse exegetical study, we will see how it is the fulfillment of the hopes and expectations of the Hebrew prophets and the early church.

The Rapture Code by Craig S. Luchin Pdf

Can there only be one Rapture? The Rapture Code—Part One of an—Eight-Book Coded Series! This is the first book of an Eight-Book Coded Series, concerning Christian living. I’ve been a Christian for 34 yrs., and for over 30 of those years, I have tried to augment the Rapture of the Church; with additional biblical evidence. I started out all those years ago; to accomplish this one task. Well, God has greatly blessed me, in that I found not—one code—concerning the Rapture, but a coded series of eight codes total. Thus, each one relating to the Christians walking out their salvation, in one aspect or another. (Doctrinally, this first book pertains to the Rapture of the Church in a Pre-Millennial position, that promotes as true; The Seven-year Tribulation, the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ; here on earth, the “little season” of Satan, and then the New Heavens and Earth.) What I have uncovered is a deeper answer that gives good reasons for all three rapture positions, which are: Pre-, Mid-, and Post-Tribulation—being three different raptures all taking place during this 7 year time period. Thus, there being three separate raptures instead of just one. I see there are—three raptures of—three different groups of peoples in the Tribulation Period. Instead of the one group—of the one—Rapture of the Church—in only one—of the three rapture positions offered us. Namely, the rapture positions of: Pre-, or Mid-, or Post-Tribulation. Thus again, I see three different raptures taking place as follows: Rapture of the Church—Rapture of the Two Witnessess—Rapture of the Elect of Israel (Pre-Tribulation) (Mid-Tribulation) (Post-Tribulation) Israel is always the key to proper biblical prophecy. Without Israel in existence today as a nation; there would be no final: End Times. Israel and the Church are separate in the Scriptures, and so it only makes sense (especially after seeing the evidence that I have accumulated in this book) that Israel would have it’s “OWN” rapture. Further, Christians, are making the same error of judgment pertaining to Christ’s Rapture of the Church (seeing only one rapture); that Israel made concerning Christ’s First Coming. Israel, perceived wrongly that there was only one Coming of Christ, which they were sorely mistaken, and we now know that there are two Comings of the LORD, one 2,000 yrs. ago and one in the near future. But Christians are making the same error in thinking that there is only one rapture of one major group of people: The Rapture of the Church. When in fact, there are—two raptures of—two major groups of peoples, as noted above. (Note: The Two Witnesses are not a group, though, I feel, with some Scriptural evidence; that the 144,000 may go up with the Witnesses.) In which the “Left Behind” notion will be proved wrong. Also, I have found a “word pattern order” exclusive to the KJB, that shows forth this order in many OT verses as well as the NT. I have found the threefold pattern of these three raptures in the “Breastplate of the High Priest,” in the “Seven Feasts of Israel,” in the books of “Daniel and Revelation,” in the books of “Matthew, Mark, and Luke,” and in many other places! In addition, these truths will strengthen the “Eternal Security” of any Believer. Finally, I have discovered many new “study aids” for advance studies that only appear in the KJB, which will strengthen the Christian for the ongoing battle for the Bible—The King James Bible, in which these study aids can and will be demonstrated throughout this Eight-Book Coded Series, by which these eight codes are based in Acts 3. The codes are there in this chapter; four times—in a four times over—repeating order—perfectly. This co

1000 Years of Joys and Sorrows by Ai Weiwei Pdf

In his widely anticipated memoir, Ai Weiwei--one of the world's most famous artists and activists--tells a century-long epic tale of China through the story of his own extraordinary life and the legacy of his father, Ai Qing, the nation's most celebrated poet. Hailed as "the most important artist working today" by the Financial Times and as "an eloquent and unsilenceable voice of freedom" by The New York Times, Ai Weiwei has written a sweeping memoir that presents a remarkable history of China over the last 100 years while illuminating his artistic process. Once an intimate of Mao Zedong, Ai Weiwei's father was branded a rightist during the Cultural Revolution, and he and his family were banished to a desolate place known as "Little Siberia," where Ai Qing was sentenced to hard labor cleaning public toilets. Ai Weiwei recounts his childhood in exile, and his difficult decision to leave his family to study art in America, where he befriended Allen Ginsberg and was inspired by Andy Warhol. With candor and wit, he details his return to China and his rise from artistic unknown to art world superstar and international human rights activist--and how his work has been shaped by living under a totalitarian regime. Ai Weiwei's sculptures and installations have been viewed by millions around the globe, and his architectural achievements include helping to design the iconic Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing. His political activism has long made him a target of the Chinese authorities, which culminated in months of secret detention without charge in 2011. Here, for the first time, Ai Weiwei explores the origins of his exceptional creativity and passionate political beliefs through his own life story and that of his father, whose own creativity was stifled. At once ambitious and intimate, 1000 Years of Joys and Sorrows offers a deep understanding of the myriad forces that have shaped modern China, and serves as a timely reminder of the urgent need to protect freedom of expression.

The Spirit of the Matter by D. L. Watson Pdf

The Spirit of the Matter is born from a love of truth and a love of God's word. When these two loves come together, we find the Scriptures are not only reliable and consistent, but a brilliantly designed set of instructions for life, reaching a depth of profundity that most Christian teachings fail to address. This book carefully examines the Christian notion that the Mosaic Law (Torah) no longer is applicable to believers and guides readers through an understanding of how and why the words of God spoken to the Old Testament writers are intensely relevant to people today. Readers will take a thought-provoking journey through topics such as: -Are we supposed to believe a literal seven-day account of creation in the book of Genesis? -Is it possible that the New Testament instructs those who believe in Jesus Christ to also obey certain commands in the Torah? -Is it conceivable that the Sabbath day as established in the creation story could also hold truths for the events of Revelation and the end times? This book will encourage you with a confidence that God's word holds much more for believers than most have been taught to expect.

"A Knot Worth Unloosing" by John H. Duff Pdf

In the study of Christian eschatological thought, virtually no attention has been given to past interpretations of the biblical phrase the new heavens and earth. John Duff uncovers the interpretations of this phrase that were extant in seventeenth-century England. These interpretations fall into two basic camps—those that understood the phrase metaphorically and those that understood the phrase literally. Some English divines believed the new heavens and earth referred to the new age of the gospel that commenced in the first century CE. At that time, God flung open the doors of salvation to Gentiles while at the same time bringing judgment to the Jewish nation for its failure to recognize and embrace Jesus as Messiah. This epic transition was fittingly described as a new heavens and earth.A second group of English interpreters believed the phrase stood for a yet future time when the political and religious circumstances of the world would change for the betterment of the church for one thousand years. The new heavens and earth stood for a future millennium in which Christ would establish his reign over the world prior to the day of resurrection and final judgment. Theologians who accepted a literal understanding believed the new heavens and earth described the renovation of the physical creation at the final judgment. Among this group, differences of opinion existed with respect to how much of the world would need cleansing, what creatures would be restored and of what use would a renovated world serve. The idea that the earth, and not heaven, would be the final abode of the saints emerged among a few obscure writers.

Commentary On Genesis 1:1-11:26 by D.J. Letscher Pdf

As no part of the Bible is to be considered more important than any other part and there are no words of Scripture that we can do without, the words of Genesis 1:1""11:26 are not considered any more or less important or noteworthy than another set of eleven chapters randomly found in Scripture. These eleven chapters do, however, form the beginning of God's word to us and we are presented with history on a universal scale. In my opinion, it is the most sensible place to begin learning about our heavenly Father and about His eternal plan. This approach will give a Bible student the fundamental knowledge that is essential to understanding all remaining Scripture. This commentary will cover topics such as: 1. The Creation of the Heaven and the Earth by God in Eternity Past (Gen. 1:1) and the Ruin in which they Ended (Gen. 1:2). 2. The Six Days of Creation in Time Present (Gen. 1:2""31), Including the (Sixth Day) Creation of all "mankind," both "male and female" (Gen. 1:27), and the Blessing by God of the Seventh Day (Gen. 2:1""3). 3. The Generations of the Heavens and of the Earth (Gen. 2:4-4:26). 4. The (Sixth Day) Formation of Adam (Gen. 2:7), the Creation of Eve (Gen. 2:22), and Their Stay in the Garden of Eden (2:8-25). 5. The Beguiling of Adam and Eve by Satan (Gen. 3:1-7); the Punishment Determined by God upon Satan, Eve, and Adam (Gen. 3:8-24). 6. The Promise of a Savior (Gen. 3:15). 7. The Birth of Cain and Abel; the Murder of Abel by Cain, and the Lineage of Cain (Gen. 4:1-24). 8. The Lineage of Adam and the Antediluvian, or Pre-Flood, Patriarchs (Gen. 5:1-31). 9. The Fallen Angels and their Progeny; the Giants (Gen. 6:1-7). 10. Grace found only in Noah (Gen. 6:8). 11. The Pedigree of Noah; the Ark, and the Flood (Gen. 6:9-9:29). 12. The Generations of the Sons of Noah (Gen. 10:1-31). 13. Nimrod and the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:1-9). 14. The Generations of Shem (Gen. 11:10-26). In addition, below each verse of the eleven chapters covered selected words will be highlighted and both the equivalent Hebrew translation of the word, as well as its definition will be given. *Definitions given are from The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible
