The Templar Papers by Oddvar Olsen Pdf

Delve into the myth and mystery of the Knights Templar with essays by Lynn Picknett, Robert Lomas, Stephen Dafoe, Sandy Hamblett, and other experts. Much has been written about the group of fourteenth-century warrior monks known as the Knights Templar. Some authors, such as Dan Brown in The Da Vinci Code, portray them as folk heroes wrongly accused. Others disagree, saying the Templar story is ultimately one of greed, deception, and idolatry. Just who were the Knights Templar? And what is their legacy? In The Templar Papers, author and historian Oddvar Olsen has assembled a veritable Who’s Who of experts to unravel the mystery. Instead of rehashing previous scholarship, this book delves into new aspects of Templar lore, such as the origins of the order and its supposed survival after 1314. It attempts to answer the following: Were the Templars devil worshippers who venerated a mysterious head? Was the head that of John the Baptist? What exactly did they find in Solomon’s Temple? Did they keep, and later hide, the Holy Grail and the Ark of the Covenant? You’ll also discover the Templar link to Mary Magdalene and the Freemasons, including answers to questions such as: Were Jesus and Mary lovers or, in fact, husband and wife? Did Mary give birth to a child after Jesus’ death? Did Freemasonry originate from the Templars? The Templar Papers offers the inquisitive reader several lifetimes of research and insight. This is a distinctive and truly unique compilation that will stimulate your mind and settle the controversy.

The Temple Antiquities by Oddvar Olsen Pdf

The Templar Papers II is the follow up to the successful The Templar Papers. The second compilation represents the best articles from issues 7-12 of The Temple. To further the questers/students knowledge of the grand order of the Knights Templar; The Templar Antiquities deals not only with the two hundred years of the orders existence but also studies relating to the Templars both before and after 1118 -1307. In error many authors see the Templars as an isolated order; however in this compilation the editor has compiled substantial material to give the reader a broader understanding of the Templars, related subjects and the formation of society as one knows it today.

The Templars and their Sources by Karl Borchardt,Karoline Döring,Philippe Josserand,Helen J Nicholson Pdf

Even 700 years after the suppression of the Order of the Temple and the execution of the last grandmaster, Jacques de Molay, there is no shortage of publications on this influential military order. Yet unlike other medieval institutions the Templars are subject to speculative fiction and popular myth which threaten to swamp the fruits of scholarly endeavour. Fortunately, recent years have produced a thriving academic scholarship which is challenging these myths. More and more sources are currently being edited, particularly those for the trial of the Templars (1307–1312). Others are still awaiting indepth study, among them, surprisingly, the greater part of the charters that cover more than 150 years of the Order’s history. The papers in this volume step into this gap and critically evaluate new directions in Templar studies on the basis of as-yet unedited source material. Open issues and desiderata regarding the sources are discussed and from a range of inspiring results a new status quaestionis is proposed that will not only provide a better understanding of the Order’s archaeological, economical, religious, administrative and military history, but also set new points of departure for the editing of charters and administrative documents. The papers here are grouped into six sections, focusing on the headquarters of the Order, its charters, manpower and finance, religious life and finally the suppression and the Order’s afterlife.

The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury Pdf

The first thrilling novel in Raymond Khoury’s New York Times bestselling Templar series. In 1291, a young Templar knight flees the fallen holy land in a hail of fire and flashing sword, setting out to sea with a mysterious chest entrusted to him by the Order's dying grand master. The ship vanishes without a trace. In present day Manhattan, four masked horsemen dressed as Templar Knights stage a bloody raid on the Metropolitan Museum of Art during an exhibit of Vatican treasures. Emerging with a strange geared device, they disappear into the night. The investigation that follows draws archaeologist Tess Chaykin and FBI agent Sean Reilly into the dark, hidden history of the crusading knights—and into a deadly game of cat and mouse with ruthless killers—as they race across three continents to recover the lost secret of the Templars.

Templars by Sanford Holst Pdf

Mysteries about the Knights Templar are at the heart of this exploration into the lives of extraordinary people who shaped this legendary order. Their intriguing stories shed new light on the forces that propelled Hugh de Payens and his Templars to positions of exceptional influence in the Medieval world. Templar links to Solomon's Temple have emerged as being more important than previously thought, and even added to the incredible wealth that filled their coffers. The rise of these knights also increased the power of the Vatican, whose later attacks on the Templars came back to haunt it. Walter de Clifton and other real-life Templars left testimony that revealed how they survived the arrests and executions that decimated their brotherhood in 1307. Living as outcasts, these once-powerful knights contributed to the fall of kings in Europe and the Vatican's loss of its dominant position. Their actions still influence our lives today.
