It has pleased God to put in place governmental authority within the whole of His creation. There are realms of authority in heaven which is clearly taught in the word of God, and when God created the world He placed Adam in control of the earth even before sin. He was crowned with glory and honour and set over the works of God's hands. Because of their failure to be faithful to the Lord they were removed from power and the government of this world was placed in Gentile hands, this was under Nebuchadnezzar and is recorded for us in Daniel Chapter 2. This began the "Times of the Gentiles" The main thrust of the book of Daniel is to reveal the end of Gentile rule and this is the purpose of the book as seen in the four prophecies revealed to Daniel himself from chapters 7-12. In these tremendous revelations the Lord is unfolding the rise of the final world despot who will move in opposition to God, and under Satan will corrupt humanity as he brings men into rebellion against God. In these chapters we see the rise, the character he bears and the control he will manifest during the tribulation period. There is more said in the word of God about this coming "Man of Sin" than any other person beside Lord Jesus, and the book of Daniel takes a leading role in revealing what God says about him. As there are many who would study the prophetic truths I trust this addition to the many volumes written on the subject will prove helpful to understand the mind of God. The volume does not follow in detail all that has been written by others but it has been written after many years of careful study and I trust that those who peruse it will at least give it some careful thought. May the Lord use this to encourage others to study the subject and discern the mind of God in those things which He has revealed.

More than 2500 years ago the Heavenly Messenger said to the prophet Daniel, "Seal the book, even to the time of the end". Daniel 12:4. By the sure word of the servant of the Lord we understand and know that the time of the end began in 1798, for since that date, "since 1798 the book of Daniel has been unsealed, knowledge of the prophecies has increased, and many have proclaimed the solemn message of the judgment near." In Bible times, when Daniel wrote the book that bears his name, there were no verse and chapter divisions. Daniel 12 is a continuation and explanation of the prophecy of Daniel Eleven. A portion of chapter 12 is a recapitulation and further explanation of 11:31. The 1290 and 1335 days of 12: 11-12 begin when 11:31 meets its historical fulfillment, sometime in the future, when the "Sanctuary of Strength" is defiled and the "tamid" is taken away. That is to say, the "continuance" of Daniel 8: 11 (tamid ) is taken away. For when the ten Tribes were captivated, a Priest or the captivity was sent back to Bethel, by order of the King of Assyria, to instruct the new inhabitants of Samaria, in the manner of the God of the land; and the Samaritans had thePentateuch from this Priest, as containing the law or manner of the God of the land, which he was to teach them. For they persevered in the religion which he taught them, joining with it the worship of their own Gods; and by persevering in what they had been taught, they preserved this book of their Law in the original character of the Hebrews, while the two Tribes, after their return from Babylon, changed the character to that of the Chaldees, which they had learned at Babylon.
