The Treat Family by John Harvey Treat Pdf

Excerpt from The Treat Family: A Genealogy of Trott, Tratt, and Treat for Fifteen Generations, and Four Hundred and Fifty Years in England and America; Containing More Than Fifteen Hundred Families in America After ten years of constant labor, the Genealogy of the Treat family has been completed and published. It was a work of love on my part, and has required not only much time, but quite a sum of money has been expended, for which no remuneration is asked. It was intended at first to publish the Genealogy in octavo form, but it was found that this would result in a large book of about one thousand pages, and it could not be bound in two volumes without dividing a family: so by increasing the size to a royal octavo. And using smaller type in the family records and notes, the number of pages has been much reduced without omitting anything. The number of copies was limited to four hundred, and the price placed at the bare cost of publishing, yet scarce two hundred copies have been subscribed for. Some who were very anxious to have a family history, and made great promises, did nothing or next to nothing, not even subscribing for a book; many willingly furnished records, but did not subscribe; others who would not even notice my letters of inquiry, did subscribe for a book. To such as assisted me my warmest thanks are due, and I have no hard feelings towards those who neglected to aid me. The loss, if there be any, is theirs, not mine. When my attention was first directed to the subject of genealogy, my purpose was to trace out my own line of' descent, and nothing more. Becoming interested, I determined to hunt up all the descendants, male and female, of the Rev. Samuel Treat, of Eastham, Mass., the oldest son of Gov. Robert Treat of Conn., from whom I am descended. To that end a considerable collection was made, and some autographs obtained, which are here printed. At length it was thought best to publish a complete record of the entire Treat family. The record will be found to be very full. No pains have been spared to make the work a complete One. Places of interest have been personally visited. Records of all kinds - town, church, and probate - have been carefully searched, and the old bury ing grounds have been examined. No Way to Treat a Child by Naomi Schaefer Riley Pdf

Kids in danger are treated instrumentally to promote the rehabilitation of their parents, the welfare of their communities, and the social justice of their race and tribe—all with the inevitable result that their most precious developmental years are lost in bureaucratic and judicial red tape. It is time to stop letting efforts to fix the child welfare system get derailed by activists who are concerned with race-matching, blood ties, and the abstract demands of social justice, and start asking the most important question: Where are the emotionally and financially stable, loving, and permanent homes where these kids can thrive? “Naomi Riley’s book reveals the extent to which abused and abandoned children are often injured by their government rescuers. It is a must-read for those seeking solutions to this national crisis.” —Robert L. Woodson, Sr., civil rights leader and president of the Woodson Center “Everyone interested in child welfare should grapple with Naomi Riley’s powerful evidence that the current system ill-serves the safety and well-being of vulnerable kids.” —Walter Olson, senior fellow, Cato Institute, Robert A. Innovative Approaches for Difficult-to-treat Populations by Scott W. Henggeler Pdf

Innovative Approaches for Difficult-to-Treat Populations makes recommendations for developing and disseminating innovative mental health services. It is geared toward clinicians, administrators, and policy-makers struggling to develop both clinically effective and cost-effective mental health and substance abuse services, and it focuses on services for individuals who use the highest proportion of mental health resources and for whom traditional services have not been effective. These target populations include youth with serious behavioral and emotional disturbances and adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses. The innovative approaches reviewed include diverse treatment methods for differing clinical populations. These varied approaches have several common elements: * Social-ecological theory frameworks* An emphasis on delivering flexible, comprehensive, pragmatic, and goal-oriented interventions in persons' natural environments* Increased accountability on the part of service providers* The transition from centralized to community-based care is discussed, and normalizing a patient's daily routine as an important factor in the success of state-of-the-art community support programs is emphasized Innovative Approaches for Difficult-to-Treat Populations offers mental health professionals and students a firsthand look at the future direction of clinical services. Policy issues necessary to developing and disseminating progressive treatments are addressed, including the downsizing of state psychiatric hospitals, strategies for reforming state mental hospital systems, and ethical issues in research on child and adolescent mental disorders.

Addiction Therapy and Treatment by Larry Fritzlan, LMFT,Avis Rumney, LMFT Pdf

Addiction is a national mental and medical health crisis, responsible for untold costs to society and severe suffering to innumerable people. Yet addiction treatment, as it is now practiced, fails half the time. The current treatment approach has changed little in the last 80 years and is a hodgepodge of often shady treatment approaches. This book presents a radically different addiction treatment paradigm, based on science, evidence and best practices, and has a success rate approaching 100% when followed closely. This model should profoundly upend the current addiction treatment industry. Nearly every addict lives in a social system--a family, workplace or community--that enables and supports, often unconsciously, the addict's addiction. Instead of the current addict-focused approach, this model extends treatment to the entire support system, starting treatment with the concerned family members. This model also proposes a single provider, the family recovery therapist, who manages treatment for the addict and the family from the first phone call through the first year of continuous sobriety. This book offers simple recommendations to both addiction treatment providers and family members impacted by this disease. It serves as a beacon of hope for families.
