The Ultimate Exodus by W. J. Sturm Pdf

The book of Revelation is filled with Old Testament images and its language of fulfillment, reminding readers of the exodus of God's people from the land of Egypt. In reviewing God's Word, however-both Israel's epic deliverance and the events of the last days foretold in the New Testament-Pastor Bill Sturm has concluded that there is no biblical basis for believing God will remove His people before He judges the ungodly in the end times. How can Christians make sense of this? What should be our response? This verse-by-verse commentary on Revelation explores these themes within the King James text (assisted by easy-to-understand Greek reflection) so that you can ready yourself for what's to come-remaining steadfast in the time of trouble until the ultimate Exodus at Christ's 2nd Coming.

Exodus und Erzeltern in Deuterojesaja by Anja Marschall,Andreas Schüle Pdf

[Ancestor and Exodus Traditions in Second Isaiah] The contributions to this conference volume place Pentateuch studies and Isaiah studies together in a constructive and critical dialogue. Similarities and differences between texts of the Pentateuch and Deutero-Isaiah are discussed under various aspects. Specific connections between the two areas include the »Ancestor« traditions and the »Exodus« as a notion of the Israelites' exodus from Egypt. The articles discuss the relationship between the Pentateuch and Deutero-Isaiah in terms of theological content and literary history: Are there literary dependencies, and if so, to what extent? What ideas and references does Deutero-Isaiah presuppose when speaking of Egypt, of Abraham and Jacob, of the Exodus from Babylon or the waters in the wilderness?

That the Scriptures Might Be Fulfilled through Perfect Worship by Nathanael R. Polinski Pdf

The hour of Jesus is a fundamental theme running throughout John’s Gospel (2:4—19:27) referring to Jesus’ glorification (7:39; 12:16, 23, 28; 13:31, 32; 16:14; 17:1, 5) in his passion and death (3:14; 8:28; 12:32, 34). Immediately after the culmination of Jesus’ hour (19:25–30) John provides a unique account of things that took place following Jesus’ death (19:31–34), apparently important to his audience (19:35), in which he recognizes scriptural fulfillment (19:36–37). At first glance, the fulfillment attested by the scriptures explicitly provided seems straightforward and of little significance, simply corresponding with the fundamental elements of the narrative in 19:32–33. Yet such an understanding runs contrary to John’s limited use of explicit Scripture citations (compared with the other evangelists) at a most critical moment in the Gospel. Rather, consistent with his allusive and engaging style, the evangelist relies on his audience to utilize the context he provides and the contexts he has presumed throughout his Gospel to perceive the depth and the expansiveness of the fulfillment he has recognized in Jesus’ hour. It is through these contexts that we gain greater insight into the fulfillment attested by John 19:36–37, illuminating Jesus’ hour and the entire Gospel.

How to Read Exodus by Tremper Longman III Pdf

The book of Exodus is a key to understanding the Bible. Without it, the Bible would lack three early scenes: deliverance, covenant and worship. Exodus provides the events and narrative, the themes and imagery foundational for understanding the story of Israel and of Jesus. You can read Exodus on your own, and its main themes will be clear enough. But an expert can sharpen your understanding and appreciation of its drama. Tremper Longman provides a box-seat guide to Exodus, discussing its historical backdrop, sketching out its literary context, and developing its principal themes, from Israel's deliverance from servitude to Pharaoh to its dedication to service to God. And, for Christians, he helps us view the book from the perspective of its fulfillment in Christ.

I Will Surely Multiply Your Offspring by Jamie Viands Pdf

After creating man and woman, God's first recorded blessing upon them is "be fruitful and multiply." Like the blessings of food and health, the human experience of procreation is so common that we may overlook its importance within the biblical narrative. However, I Will Surely Multiply Your Offspring, a comprehensive examination of the progeny blessing, demonstrates that this motif is both prevalent and significant within the Old Testament by tracing its development throughout the redemptive-historical narrative. Viands identifies different progeny blessing traditions associated with the Abrahamic covenant, the Sinai covenant, and the new covenant, and describes their interrelationships as well as their relationship to the universal blessing first found in Genesis 1. This study lays the foundation for a biblical worldview of human proliferation, contributing to contemporary discussions concerning whether humans are obligated to bear children as well as procreation ethics.
